there really is nothing quite like cartier. I received a tank louis cartier as a high school graduation gift and have been infatuated ever since. the baignoire allongee, configured exactly like the one shown in this collection, is the closest thing i have to a grail watch these days
To me, in 1984 when I was 18 years old, my square Cartier Santos steel & gold was the most elegant sport watch on the planet. It's slim and beautiful. I would love to see a picture of the original "Santos" model made by Louis Cartier for his friend Santos Dumont.
And people still call cartier watches a " fashion watch company," it is true that they have lost a lot of ground on the watch market. However, cartier have the same of even more horological history than the over priced Rolex.
They've gained a ton of it back in the last several years. In-house movements, more investment into grand complications and fine watchmaking, long-needed refreshes, etc. have made them super competitive in the watch market again.

Cartier watches are so ugly by themselves, but on the wrist on the wrist? My god they are beautiful. Especially if you dress and have a fit figurine.
I sold a Cartier watch that I inherited when I was in my early 20's. It would be worth about $20k today. I'm still sick over it.
Cartier is not my personal cup of tea stylisticly but it's intresting to learn about other brands.

Because they won't pay a sound professional to edit and mix their videos and the picture editor has no idea how to deal with dialogue. It sounds ridiculous.

They've poorly implemented noise reduction. They were probably in a noisy room and didn't know how to deal with it
What was he saying? Tank normal? First tank name? How did it become called the tank?
The Tank line is named so because it draws inspiration of the aerial view of a tank. The Tank Normale is the purest form (and sadly no longer in production) in the sense that there are no outstanding features. You'll find the other Tanks will be more distinctive in some way shape or form, for example the Tank Americaine is more elongated and slightly curved.

I love classic watch brands but I wish I knew why I dislike Cartier watches so much.
Cartier invented the wristwatch in 1904.
The examples are quite beat up. You would think Cartier would have mint condition examples of their watches for their archives.
Only thing mint is if 1)new or 2) never worn. A watch it to be worn. It will tell time and time will leave its imprint on it too through the daily wear
"Purest shape possible for a watch.." I hate to disagree with a watch historian, but I feel a round shape offers so much more, and is the simplest and purest.
