    I have the 8gig paperwhite and I've nearly used all the storage without using audiobooks. I have a lot of manga and it takes up much more space than normal books. Just telling others who may have the same problem. However, you can remove downloads without deleting the books and the space is freed up. So 8 gigs is still okay, I just might upgrade to the signature edition at some point.

    I have never owned a kindle before or really knew much about them, but I am considering buying one. the one I am looking at is the scribe because sometimes I highlight things in a book, and the reason is so I can lend it a friend to read certain sections of information without having to read a whole chapter or book if they are only seeking that particular knowledge, also for me to reference back on. I was curious if the device can be updated as far as software/operating system without buying a new unit. thank you for the review. I am going now to watch your video on the scribe, maybe I should have done that first to see if my questions were answered lol.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  Год назад +2

      The Scribe is probably one of the fastest updating devices at the moment, because it had a couple of features note taking missing that are important for such a device. So it got new features with the official updates over the past couple of months and all existing owners can use them as well. I've done 3 videos on those updates, so you can see what has changed over time, if you like to check them out.
      If you're asking, if you can change the operating system, then the answer is no.

    FOR ALL MANGAnime´s you can compress the manga books you have so it´s smaller in file size. for example an original manga pdf with its huge size of an gb to almost 200kb in its extreme compressed condition. still readable and you can have almost all your mangas in your kindle or for those who likes quality, just use an flash drive with usb to move books from harddrive to reader or vice versa.

    I am curious as to know which have newer technology . The basics are most important for me, like how quickly they download books and how responsive they are to "turning pages". I have an older kindle that can randomly be hypersensitive to "swiping/turning pages and I will find it has skipped ahead by quite a bit, leaving me with no way to know how to return to where I was. Not having actual page numbers is a "fail" as far as I'm concerned ! . I thought to upgrade with a paperwhite in 2021 but soon sent it back as it was a bit glitchy and definitely slower in just about every aspect. (Page turning and down loading was incredibly sluggish) After some research I found out it did not have newer technology that would enable it to be faster ! At that time the Fire tablets had newer technology, but they were expensive and large !

SMH. This video helped me decide which one to buy. I used your affiliate link and purchased the regular paperwhite; 16 GB; black; with ads. It was only $10 more to up the storage to 16 GB. I also added a screen protector and clear case that just covered the back (no front cover). The whole bundle including tax was just shy of $180 USD. Thanks for all your help. 😊

    Only buy the standard paperwhite if you’re getting the 8gb option w/ads. If you’re getting it with 16gb without ads, the price is only $10 cheaper than the signature series that has double the storage, wireless charging, and the neat auto-adjusting light.
    *This is considering you’re getting the black variant as there was a sale on Amazon devices when this comment was made.

    Hi Chalid: nice review!. Regarding the Oasis: my reason for NOT getting that one is the lack of pocketability - it is virtually impossible to put in a pocket. now that the Kindle has a 6.8" screen in virtually the same size as the Kindle, but much less wide than the Oasis, the pocketability aspect gets even more important. Obviously the scribe does not fit either, but that at least offers asignificantly larger screen.

    I am so torn between getting Kindle Basic 2022 and the Paperwhite 11th gen (2022)
    I have small hands so I like how portable Kindle Basic is, however I am also a fan of warm light which is only present in Paperwhite.
    And to add, I am not sure if a flushed screen or not is better for me.
    I have the Paperwhite 3, upgrading because it has got a crack on it's screen and it doesn't have the bluetooth feature.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  Год назад +6

      Changing from the Kindle Paperwhite 3 to the Kindle Basic 2022 is basically a sideways trade. Both are almost identical in the most important aspects, so if you're happy with the reading experience now, I doubt you'll be disappointed with the new Basic model. Just keep in mind, that it might feel a bit cheaper.
      I personally would still recommend the Kindle Paperwhite. It's better in every aspect, and it's not so big that it's a problem imho. It's still compact, in terms of portability, just not as much as the Kindle Basic. I think the Paperwhite is simply the better choice for most people.

      It's not a dedicated comparison video, but I do point out the key differences and also show them side by side, which should give you a good idea of what to expect.
      I'd say the biggest advantage is the color-temperature adjustment of the new model. If you can live without it, stick with your current Paperwhite. If you always wanted to have it and often read at night, the upgrade is definitely worth it in my opinion.

      Besides dark mode you'd also get a much better screen resolution (300 ppi vs. 167 ppi). That's a difference you'll most likely notice right away.

    I read so much on my kindle. I have the 2015 paperwhite that I still use but I am considering upgrading on prime day. Kindle scribe seems stupid when the ipad and other tablets exist.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  11 месяцев назад

      Depends on what you want to do. With an iPad you can obviously do a lot more. But for reading and notetaking the Kindle Scribe is a good device (after these last updates).
      If that's not your thing though, the new Paperwhite is a great upgrade. Can't really go wrong with it imho.

      I'd say the Kindle Scribe, simply because of the larger screen. That makes it much better in that regard - and with the 300 ppi resolution even small text is readable.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  Год назад

      The Kindle Paperwhite is the most reasonable, but my favorite is the Kindle Scribe. The Kobo Libra 2 is the best from Kobo in my opinion. The more expensive Kobo options do offer handwritten notetaking, but the Libra 2 has the better battery life and best screen.
      So my suggestion would be to have a closer look at the Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Libra 2.

    Hi do you think kindle will come out with a colour version?

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  Год назад

      Not anytime soon in my opinion. Amazon tends to play it safe with their ereaders. The E-Ink Kaleido screens aren't especially great for reading and E-Ink Gallery 3 is still at a very early stage. If I had to guess, I'd say we won't see a color Kindle before 2025.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  Год назад +1

      I'd pick the 10th gen Paperwhite: The frontlight is a bit more even, I like the flush display more and it has water protection, which the Kindle Basic lacks. So if the price difference isn't to large, I'd go for the 10th gen Paperwhite if with it being older and having micro-USB.

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  5 месяцев назад

      No, not at the moment. All Kindle ereaders are black & white and the moment. I think Amazon initially wanted to establish the Fire tablets as the color-variant of their Kindle (because they also launched with the Kindle brandname), but later chose to market them separately.
      I suspect it will take a few more years for Amazon to release a color E-Ink ereader, given the state of the tech right now.

      Yes, you can use the highlighting function and export the notes either by sending them to the e-mail address that is registered in your Amazon account or by copying the "My Clippings.txt"-file that is automatically placed in the internal storage of the device.

    Do you think it’s worth trading in my Kindle Oasis for a Scribe? Amazon offering £60 trade in?

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  Год назад +2

      Entirely depends on your needs. I wouldn't recommend it, just to "upgrade". For reading I personally prefer the portability and handling of the Oasis. Also the light distribution is a bit better imho.
      It can be a good deal if you find the screen of the Oasis to be too small (because you read PDF-files/comics/mangas or use large text sizes) or want to do handwritten notetaking.
      Simple notetaking on the Scribe is pretty convenient. I use it more often than I thought I would be, simply because it takes so little effort.

      @@davemeadows6688 I only have the original flip case here, so can't really recommend anything. The original cover is nice overall, but I don't like that it's noticeable larger to the sides than the ereader itself. I showed what I mean in my Remarkable 2 vs. Scribe video.

    What are your thoughts on paper white vs kids version?

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  6 месяцев назад +1

      Sorry, I suspect you needed the answer for the Black Friday week ... maybe it still does you any good: The Kindle Kids Edition and Kindle Paperwhite Kids Editions are great deals - even for adults - because you get a case and extended warranty. When using them in Kids-mode they are ad-free. But when using them normally, they now also have ads - same as the regular versions. Not a huge deal, but that was different the in previous years.
      You can't really go wrong with any of those - weather it's the Kids Edition or not.

    Does the kindle paper white have the Text To Speech feature??

    • @ChalidRaqami
      @ChalidRaqami  11 месяцев назад

      Short answer: No.
      Long Answer: Yes, but not exactly. There's VoiceView, that can read all contents on the screen. It's only available in English and is an accessibility feature for people having problems with their eyesight. But it makes navigating the device a bit slower, because it will read everything you tap (via Bluetooth speakers/headphones). So it's not a TTS function exactly, but can be used as one with some drawbacks.

      Yes, but Kindles aren't the best PDF viewers you can get. The Scribe is the best Kindle for PDFs thanks to it's size and note taking features.
      But for PDFs I'd recommend checking out either PocketBook or Boox devices, depending on what exactly you want to do.
