Reading thru the comments I'm learning the I'm not the only person obsessed with my kindles and love watching other people showing & talking about their kindles!
My husband has the paperwhite and I'm jealous of some of his features... but I prefer the smaller size of my basic. I'm impatiently waiting until they make a small paperwhite the size of the basic. I'd be ALL over that. I'd love to be entered for the extra sticker :)

For what it's worth, the 10th gen paperwhite kindle has a 6" screen and the device as a whole is very slightly bigger than the 11th gen basic. The 10th gen pw is waterproof with flushed bezels but it uses the micro usb charger and doesn't have the warm light option (which I don't really need personally)
I have an older paperwhite! I love that mine is smaller than the new paperwhites. The warm feature is cool, but the lack of it doesn’t appear to affect my sleep anyway
I just got the basic about a week ago and I have been loving it so much! I can read comfortably for longer now and have already finished a book 600 pages long and it has been amazing!!!

This video made me realize that I do actually have a Paperwhite and not the Basic. The battery life is actually insane. It's a modern marvel! lol Also: your new mic sounds SO freaking good. It's so crisp and clear. :)

I have heard alot that the new basic one having 300ppi, non flushed screen has sharper text than paperwhite 5 and gives more of reading from a book feel. The flushed screen gives an impression of reading on tablet compared to basic one due to waterproof flushed screen covering the display. Is it true? If this is true then this may be reason for your preferring to read on basic
This could be part of it, I think I just like the basic for the more compact size, but I also love the paperwhite too! They’re good in different settings!

I remember I’m reading on an e-reader more on the basic, but again that *could* be the setting I’m using them in! I vote paperwhite if text clarity and book experience is what you’re after! The warm light helps too with eye strain especially at night.
I bought a little wireless adaptor for my basic. It plugs into charging port on basic, and slide under my case, and gives me wireless charging cost - $14 cnd

My dad told me to pick out a kindle for my bday! I was originally going to get a paperwhite but I feel like it isn’t worth $50 more :( so I opted for a basic! I read in dark mode anyways, I heard the basic is more portable and comfortable to hold I’m very excited
I found myself pulling out a tape measure to get a feel for the size, but it's still a bit hard to picture. Side by side is best, so thanks. I'm 54 and reading on my phone is getting a little blurry without cheaters, and I don't like wearing glasses when I'm laying down to read at night. So I'm trying to see if a paperwhite will help. Too few words per page on the phone as I increase the text size. haha
The basic is barely bigger than my phone so I would go for the paperwhite. Definitely room for bigger text and more words. I hope you love it, and thanks for watching!
I’m currently using a basic and I love the size,weight and features. I primarily listen to my books on audible but wanted to have options and didn’t want to increase my daily carry load by bringing books along - and was curious about the e reader experience anyway. I been using free books via the various library apps and use it for viewing PDFs for work. Would like to be entered in the drawing for extra stickers.

I’ve been looking all day for differences and pros and cons for each version but I’ve been overwhelmed and confused with the models and everything so thank you for explaining so in depth the differences! I thought of getting the basic version but no one explained the way I wanted if it’s worth it until now! 😂😂
The kindle basic has my vote for its form factor. Been using the 10th gen model since 2020 and i love how it fits in my pocket without feeling heavy. Great analysis btw ☺️
This was very helpful. The price difference was so huge. I needed help to pick which one was going to be the best for me. I already have a nook so I think the basic Kindle would be perfect for me.
I ended up getting the paperwhite (not signature edition) because it was £40 off and not much more than the basic which wasn't on offer I believe, and to be honest, I was worried the basic would be to small of a reading experience. However since receiving my paperwhite it's not as small as I thought so I think I could still use the basic model fine. All this to say is, there's a good chance I'll buy a basic too especially if they're planning on upgrading the features. As I believe this would be perfect for travelling to and from work with. Then save the bigger paperwhite screen for night time reading, (closer to a book experience). I was hoping to save money but looks like I'll spend twice as much, and who can resist also buying the odd physical book, certainly not me! 😅. Great video BTW!.

This video is so helpful! I’ve never had a kindle or ereader so I am just learning about all the different ones/features and this video finally helped me pick which one will work best for me. I think I am just gonna go with the regular kindle paperwhite! I do like the size of the basic more, but I really need mine to be waterproof because I am insanely clumsy and will spill/drop it in water at some point. I love the pretty green too it fits me really well!
I think you’ll love the paperwhite!!! I know I said I loved the basic in this video but my paperwhite is my “daily driver” and the one that I reach for most. The green is so pretty. You’ll have to let me know what you think. I’m so excited for you! 🎉😍
@SummerSayre me too, best believe they know what they're doing by not making the basic waterproof! People will pay the extra just for waterproof alone. I hate it because it'd save me $50 plus that extra light on the Kindle paperwhite (not paperwhite signature) is, in my opinion, worth the extra
@SummerSayre my mom is a big book reader too she's trying to get me to wait and save up for a kindle signature but I don't really think I need 32 gb of storage but I'm not really sure how much storage 16 gb is for a kindle and what all it can hold
@@Talkbookishwithme yeah, the 16 is plenty honestly unless you want audiobooks on there! You can also offload books you don’t want on there if you want to save storage, but I have hundreds of books and I’ve never even come close to having a storage problem!!!!
There is a screen refresh rate but it’s pretty fast in person. On camera it definitely looks worse than I’ve ever seen it in real life, so it’s not bad at all.

And any of my book I've took on the helicopter ride here has damage my book as you have put in you suit leg. Thank you very much for replying summer. I'm happy to here any suggestions you may have.
The raised edges helps the reader to not press the screen and page turn by mistake. They guide your hand placement. The flush screen seems to be a downgrade except when one needs to clean the screen.

Try Kobo Clara 2e or the new one Kobo Clara BW. It's like a Kindle Basic but with warmlight.

I'm still hooked to my Oasis. I fancy a signiture but going to hold off until a colour kindle.
I agree - the oasis is amazing! I wonder how they'll do with colour e-ink... the kobo has been interesting but I still prefer the kindle!

Nope! I do not use one on either one of my kindles, but there are some great matte options out there if you do want one!

Oh no! It’s not too bad but it’s definitely got an inset screen! Luckily I think you can return it and swap it out :)
