    This is my friend's second Kindle. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOnUR4NaproSbBbD2sdI4XcDZ58Jz8GOx The first one which is about 5 or 6 years old quit charging because the bottom connector went bad. When I saw they upgraded to a USB C connector I knew it was time. I think the old USB Micro connectors are a PIA. Her new one is great. It synced right out of the box and connected to WiFi immediately. The thing is perfect! Sooo mine will arrive tomorrow. (Been reading off an old Fire) What bugs me are the reviewers that give this product one star because it didn't work out of the box or they were too dumb to figure it out. If it doesn't work send it back and get another one. It couldn't be easier with Amazon. Giving it one star because it didn't work says nothing about a good one that does work. I bet a bad one is one in a thousand or more. Give it a break...just get another one.

    I've had a Kindle for over 10 years now. The Paperwhite 11th generation is the best value in my opinion, especially if you purchase it on sale. The basic is good, but I think the warm lighting is a game changer if you do a lot of reading.

    As an Oasis owner, I'd say it's well worth the cost. I used to own a Paperwhite (admittedly a much older one missing a lot of the nice features they have now), and honestly, it didn't feel like a big upgrade over reading on my phone. I almost gave up entirely on the idea of having a dedicated device. Eventually, though, i was convinced yo give the Oasis a try, and it was a total game changer. It is so comfortable to hold that I don't want to read on anything else anymore. Compared to the cost of books, it's not really that expensive either. It's sad that Amazon seems to be ignoring the oasis, since i don't think I've ever seen a comparable device.

    Love the fact that you _still_ have (what looks like) an old 4th Gen Kindle. That was my very first, which I bought over 12 years ago and kept it in an OEM case, until that fell apart. I actually found that I liked the feel of it "naked" but sold it on eBay and bought the 10th Gen Basic White (which has a light, though I rarely use it) which I also keep in a case, though again, am tempted to free it! 😉😉
    I did see the 11th Gen Basic (Denim) in store yesterday and it does feel great and is even _more_ dinky. But, I am totally OCD about fingerprints.
    Sadly, I have heard/read that the Oasis is being discontinued, with no plans for a "refresh."

I love the way it feels when I'm holding it, its so thin, and the note-taking is amazing! It is my preferred reader now. Awesome, glad to hear you enjoy it. What is it that makes you more likely to pick it up, the stylus or the larger screen? You say you still choose the Oasis when getting ready for bed, is that Because of the amount of light from the scribe?

    • @richeleortiz5181
      @richeleortiz5181 Год назад +5

      The larger screen is awesome. But mostly its the feel of it in your hand. Its very well balanced and nice and thin and light. Its the best reading experience of all the Kindles yet in my opinion. and yes the stylis is very similar to a regular pen or pencil. I like to hold it without a case which is another plus because the case from Amazon is magnetically attached so its very quick to take it on and off. I have never been a fan of the Oasis odd grip. It would be nice if they would model a new Oasis off the scribe. The reason I use the Oasis at bedtime is I usually read in the dark until I fall asleep so the Oasis just falls to the pillow next to me so no worries. I've had the Oasis for 4 years and have enjoyed it, and feel very fortunate that I could purchase the Scribe. For a new purchaser it really boils down to personal reading habits. For an occasional reader even the Oasis is probably not worth the money. But for avid daily readers then a premium kindle is definitely worth it. All in all their all good.
