    I have a kindle from the ancient times of 2010, and it not only still works, but I still love it.
    Seeing these reviews has been very helpful. I was considering upgrading because it's so old, but it sounds like I'm not missing anything by continuing to enjoy my reliable workhorse of a kindle. :)

    I have had a paperwhite for 1 year but recently there was a deal on the sribe and i decided to jump in and buy it. I think it's a very great value if you use it for its intended purpose. Im an engineering student and im often out there reading pdf and taking notes. I still use the paperwhite for reading but after having a scribe i couldn't ever go back to pen and paper. Its way cheaper to buy that than to print pdf in the long term. If we talk about competition all alternatives are more costly (kobo elipse, remarkable, noox, etc) and for conventional tablets, im just not able to read for a long period of time on a normal screen, the e-ink screen is a killer.

    Hi Dylan! I bought my first Kindle this October Prime Day. I chose the Kindle Paperwhite Signature since it was the same price as the regular Paperwhite. I like that it is small (it actually fit in the smallest purse that I have), but I don’t like that it doesn’t support Hoopla. I guess if it did, then no one would have KU. Libby is good, but I have always liked Hoopla better. I guess I have to keep my Amazon Fire a little bit longer 😢.

    Any reader, used a lot... With a light (let's be honest without the light, unless you're outside... The screen looks grey and kind of sucks to read. It's not going to last month if you're regularly reading a book in 3 days... It won't let s month on that scenario. Maybe it will last for three books.

    i just got a kindle basic on prime day! Your videos were the biggest help in comparing all the different models. i was mostly between the paperwhite and basic, as i wanted something simple and compact. in 2020, i switched from physical reading to almost exclusively reading on my phone and the main - no, ONLY - reason i went with the basic over the paperwhite is the size! it's SO cute and tiny, similar to reading on my phone but is BY FAR an elevated experience from distracting, colorful, headache-inducingly-bright, shiny screen phone reading. 😆i LOVE my basic so much...but if they released a waterproof version of the basic/aka paperwhite mini, i'd buy it in a heartbeat! i wouldn't even have it in me to wait for a sale. 😂

      The Kindle Basic is an excellent device! In fact, I just bought one to complement my Paperwhite. It has 95% of the features of the Paperwhite. And it still has a 300-PPI screen resolution like the Paperwhite. (According to my calculations, for a 4:3 aspect ratio and 300 PPI 6" inch display, the screen resolution is precisely 1440 x 1080 on the basic Kindle.) So it's definitely worth the $99.99 price tag. I have the paper white signature edition and I love it. It also has a stand that you can set it on to charge and I feel like the battery life is INSANE. I always see people talk about kindles in a bad way because you’d have to charge them, and they don’t want to have to charge while reading, but I’ve had mine for over a year now and have never had an issue with needing to charge it while reading.
    Regarding the ergonomics, I actually bought a $15 pillow thing and a $25 clicker and those have definitely been a game changer. The kindle has honestly made me question if I still need books since it’s just so much more comfortable (for me) to read then a regular giant fantasy book.

But I didn't realize I would also be able to read other books I can't find in my country or that are written in other languages. And if I don't know what a word means, I can see the meaning without changing devices. I got a clear case and a popsocket for it, and it's the most comfortable thing I've ever owned to read with, I can take it everywhere (plus it's a bonus that I love the way it looks, so I want to use it even more). You bring up a really good point with the Scribe - if you aren't going to use the note-taking ability then I would say it isn't worth it. I do find it a bit more cumbersome than my Paperwhite for just plain reading, however I use my Scribe more because I do take notes. I've been using it for bible study, annotating non-fiction books I wanted to read, and with the new update of "write in" books (albeit a very slim selection as of now) I have been greatly enjoying doing crossword puzzles. The writing experience is the best I've had from a "tablet" and I love it, so it was worth the money for me. Thanks for your in-depth coverage of all the devices!

    The Scribe is an amazing beast and my currently most used e-ink device.. BUT it is best suited as a productivity device. The display is amazing (great for Manga!), but it is huuuuge and not well suited for casual/bedtime reading. I use it for note taking, studying, holding public speaking notes, lunchtime reading using the official stand-up cover (magazines through Kindle Unlimited, mostly), and light Manga reading.
    My bedtime reader is a Kobo Libra H2o, which I chose over the Kindle Oasis due to ergonomics, price, and far better public library integration.

    The Oasis was updated in 2019, not 2017. The warm light was added. The battery kinda sucks on the Oasis but it does have more lights on it - 25 LED's on Oasis vs 17 on the Paperwhite. I have both the Paperwhite and Oasis - my main preference for the Oasis is that I can disable the touchscreen and then let my hand rest anywhere on the screen without having the page change like so often happens to me on the Paperwhite. There are rumors that the Oasis may get an update this year - fingers and toes crossed!

    I will not like the scribe because of portability. I carry my kindle with me all the time the scribe is too big already and it is not practical. Also i do not take too many notes in my kindle. My favorite Kindle ever was the voyage. I used for 8 years and the Oasis did not sounded or looked as practical as that one. I currently have a 2021 Kindle and I like that is a bit larger, not too much but enough to be more confortable to read.

    I love the Paperwhite and the basic too. I take the basic version if I am going somewhere and use the Paperwhite mostly at home. They both are great. For me, I love the smallness of the Basic. It just is more comfortable to hold one handed. I have a case on both and a pop socket on the Paperwhite's case. They both have great battery life although the Paperwhite does hold a charge longer. I think you ranked them about right. I sold an Oasis that I had and never had the Scribe. The Scribe would just be to big for me for a regular eReader.

    I had a paperwhite that broke after having for years. I looked into all of the other options, and stayed with the paperwhite. The others were too much of a jump in price for extra features that didn't make it worth it for me. And, the basic is made of cheaper materials, and not waterproof. I was going to pay to remove the adds, but then decided against it as it isn't worth it for $20. If the adds were popping up while reading or something then I would have paid it, but just for the screensaver wasn't worth it. I do like to make notes as I read a lot of history, and political science, but the scribe is too pricy and the highlighting feature mostly gets the job done.

It was easier to hold and more compact. I find that I use the PW most often because of the warm light feature. I’m visually impaired and this makes reading much easier for me. I don’t see myself ordering the Scribe as I like a smaller device. Thanks for doing this video. 😊

    i got my paperwhite 11th gen just some months ago but i absolutely love it!!! i found its size the best since oasis' square shape and big black line on the size kind of annoys me (also i like touching the screen more than using the buttons to flip the page) and normal one is being a little small for me. i also read with a slight yellow tint (since my wattpad days around 2014 so almost 10 years sheesh) so i was never too much into buying a kindle since apple books had the yellow background i like to use but then i learned the 11th gen has the warm light feature so i insta bought it lol. i am so happy with my kindle. paperwhite is the best!!!!!

    If kindle Oasis is upgraded, I will definitely buy it. I like the ergonomics.

    Haha, Dylan. Funny video! I hope the viewers get the joke! Are you sure you won't find any special needs/developmentally disabled, who don't know they can read Kindle books on their phones or tablets, with the Kindle Reading App? Intelligent teenagers should be able to see the humor, but still some of the pre-teens might not be sophisticated enough to see the joke.
    Or they can read it off their computer screen with the web viewer. I have my computer hooked up to my TV, so I have a 49" screen.
    You sure seem sincere and kind, so that would add to the potential for people to get a good laugh. The whole point of opening up your wallet and letting the butterflies fly out is how these devices compare to reading off a tablet. Which you don't mention, you savage you!
    All in all, a strange video! The commenters seem to be winking at you, as well!

    I love my Oasis but I do think the battery SUCKS compared to my old paperwhite. I have to charge it every two weeks and I do agree it's kind of pricey given that they haven't updated it in years. However, and this is how I got mine, Amazon has a trade in program where you get 20% off for sending your old device along with a $50 gift card to use towards the new kindle. So I ended up paying 250 for it. I love the feeling of it, the materials, the screen and of course the buttons, but I do wish the battery life was better.

  • @ramspencer5492
    @ramspencer5492 8 месяцев назад

    Are they really not going to update the Oasis? I think a really smart move would be to take Barnes & nobles example and make it 7.8 in! Then go ahead and give it a little more battery... Maybe lose the hump or at least reformat it. Give it a capacitive back button as well, like the Nook.
    I think it's ridiculous the Kindle basic doesn't have a warm light! The only way the thing is readable at night is if you wear tinted, blue light reading glasses. What's the point in making it inadequate, When you want to people to buy and read more books! It's a really stupid thing to leave off in my opinion.

    • @BookloverFantasy92
      @BookloverFantasy92 Год назад +1

      like you said, its an expensive device, but if it removes the need to carry notebooks on hand all the time (I'm a writer) and it converts handwriting to text, can edit your own documents and transfers easily to the computer for export, then that would be a major plus for me, as it would save time, which is limited.

    I’ve had an Oasis for several years and I’ve liked it. But I had to buy a stand for it and that’s been a pain. I finally decided to buy a Paperwhite (16gb) a few months ago and I love it. I rarely ever used the physical buttons on the Oasis so going to the PW has been an easy transition. And I like the Origami cover for the PW because I mostly read at bedtime with the Kindle setting in front of my face horizontally and the origami case can fold either for horizontal or vertical.

    I don't know what they put in them that could justify the price. It's hard for me to do so when I know you could get a brand new Nintendo Switch for the price of the Scribe and the Oasis. Also, one of the things I love the most is being able to hold my device with one hand while reading, and that seems to be out of the question with the Scribe. I guess the Scribe is for doing certain kinds of activites and/or work on the kindle.

I feel the oasis isn't a great value - kinda pricey IMO - but I like the feel of it and the buttons for page turning. I wish they buttons were farther in and less 'space' on that side but oh well. I love my Kindle Paperwhite I feel like it's the most practical. The size is perfect and it holds a lot of books! Easy to adjust and it's migrane friendly atleast for me thankfully! 😊 I have sometimes totaled the amount of money for the books I might have paid with out the ability to read for basically "free" with kindle unlimited ($12 a month) and libby app (library) and its typically somewhere between 50-130 dollars a month. I've used mine so much its been paid for many times over. To upgrade to the oasis seems like its not worth the money for the page turning buttons and lack of battery despite knowing I would get my money's worth in use. Great review and I love your personality 😊

  • @user-bc7cb8uu7e
    @user-bc7cb8uu7e Год назад +1

    I think the question is value is a didn't one. For me, the basic Kindle isn't enough better than reading a phone, so I just ended up not using it. Therefore, it is probably the worst value to me. The Oasis, on the other hand, feels like a significant improvement in reading experience, so once you spread the cost over all the books you read in several years, it is a very good value to me. Fitting my hand so well is huge and makes reading much more comfortable. Add in the perfectly evenly lit screen (at least some of the older Paperwhites had not so even front light, not sure about the latest gen, though), and I'm totally sold. The page turn buttons are yet another really nice bonus. Being able to rest my thumb on the page turn button throughout reading is a nice touch.
    I haven't used a Kindle Scribe yet, but I suspect that it's a rip off at the price it's being sold for.

  • @Mohammad_Ali__

    Honestly, if an Scribe was much less expensive, I’d probably go for the buy. My experience with the Paperwhite is not that bad, except that it could get a bit difficult for highlighting text. Too big text, and it would be necessary to go to the next page. If text is too small, highlighting could go several lines ahead the expected area you want to highlight. The material is not good for technology like this although it does reduce a lot of weight that gets on the hands. Writing is not possible on the Kindle Paperwhite for taking notes, so if you’re a student that needs an e-reader, taking notes for exams won’t be possible. From my experience, I would either go for a Kindle Scribe or a non-Amazon Kindle product such as a reMarkable 2 for a note taking ability to get an advantage.
