I have both e-readers and I really have no preference reading wise. But I like the way the nook looks and love the page turn buttons. B&N has a free book every Friday, plus if you’re a member you get one free ebook a month.
There's a short on RUclips where this girl cut some paper and put it into her kindle case after she put her stickers in the case to give it a white background type of look. There's another video (made y someone else entirely) where the lady spray painted her kindle white. I have seen some wild videos in my e-reader research lol
Team Nook! I have a Glow light 4 plus and you can connect a wireless device to it. I use my wireless headphones all the time to listen to audio books. The screen is almost the same size as the paper white. Basically depending on the model you have the screen size and wireless functionality differs.
Nook can read Libby books by sideloading them. I also like that if you physically go to a B&N store you can read any book in the store for an hour for free. Let's you sit in the coffee shop and dig into a book a lot better than standing in the middle of an aisle. No ads, lower price, and physical buttons are the deciding factors for me. Been using a Nook Simpletouch for 11 years and am finally upgrading to the 4e. Good review video!
i have a basic kindle 11th gen, i reached out to amazon customer support chat and let them know i was upset at the inappropriate ads my child was seeing in her kindle it was adult content and they removed the ads for free. And no this is not for a child's kindle, its me, i am the child
Something to note RE: fonts. You can load fonts onto your kindle. Just download your favorite font files and drag and drop them into the fonts folder of your kindle. Game changer.
This was helpful 👌🏻 I wanted the Nook more for the page turn buttons because I loved those on my old Kindle, but it’s more important for me to be able to easily check out ebooks from Libby 🤷♀️
I have an Oasis and a Paperwhite signature edition. I also have a Nook 4 and a Nook 4 plus. I have a vast library of books that began with the Nook Color back in 2010. I love all my ereaders. 😊
I surprised my wife with that pearl pink nook for Christmas! I have a paper white signature. Only thing I really like more is the option to display my book covers on the kindle lock screen. Cool comparison video.
The Kobo devices connect to Libby directly and is the best device for borrowing books, and the Kindle Voyage has power button on the back and physical haptic page turn buttons
I think they're both a delight to read on, but if prices for eBooks are same on both don't really have a preference. Kindle store has everything I could ever need at what seems to always be the lowest price (or tied for lowest) so I stick with what I know :)
I was an original adopter of the Nook when it was first released years ago. At the time, I could borrow books from the library via Overdrive via side loading while before one was able to do so on a Kindle. I eventually converted over to Kindle because of the catalog and the option of reading ‘free’ books via Unlimited. Now I use Barnes and Noble to shop in person for books and use Amazon (and Libby for library books) to access ebooks.
I love that the nook still has the page turn buttons. That being said and where I’ll stick with my Kindle 6.8 16gb Agave Green is I love “Kindle Unlimited” and being able to use my local library and get books through “Libby”. Also when I do get a book on audible I can listen to it on my ereader. And I’m also right handed I just got a clear case some stickers and a pop socket.
Have had a Nook forever and contemplate switching simply because Amazon provides more "deals" so this video was really helpful. Love my page turning buttons and would really miss that. I download my library ePub books either from the library itself or from Libby and convert them via Adobe Digital Editions and read them on my Nook. It takes no time at all - an extra step but it works so I can get free ebooks regularly. Maybe I'll also get a Kindle as well so I can access both.
Great comparison video! Sounds like the nook has some cool features. I have had the PPW for a few years & I can’t imagine not having Libby or my indie author books! I feel like I would spend more money if I had the Nook while I rarely have to buy books on the kindle between Libby & kindle unlimited
My 7 inch Nook color tablet has the Google play store.I downloaded Libby and the Kindle app. On my tablet, I can send my Libby books to be read on the Kindle app on my Nook. I enjoy seeing the book jackets in color. Unfortunately my Nook size is no longer sold in store. I wish Nook would get it together and come out with another color tablet. My previous Samsung Nook was great until it was no longer supported. I also have the Fire tab but am disappointed that Google play isn't automatically available.
Great video! 👏🏻 There seems to be an uptick of people talking about getting a new reading device, which is great! 🤓 So glad your wife has an e-reader that she really likes - gotta love the white! 📚
Kindle actually had the book lend function that worked there exact same way except it was 14 days. Unfortunately Amazon quietly sent a press release and ended the feature last year with no explanation why.
I agree. The Kindle paperwhite is the best. I like the text-to-speech function on my Kindle (it sounds like an actual human voice when it reads). I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned in the video. Just a sidenote: when you say in your videos that the Libby app can be connected to your Amazon account and Kindle, please specify that this option is only available to U.S. residents. I live in South Africa and have both a Kindle paperwhite and Libby, but Amazon made it clear I can't connect the two if I live outside the U.S. Very disappointing, but it is what it is, I suppose. 😊
I have both. I bought a nook used on unclaimed baggage to compare the two. I gravitate towards my kindle but I have been adding free books to it that I get in my email everyday so I can start a library on it. I do believe it’s waterproof but I’m not 100% sure. But I like that it does have buttons.
I don't have the latest Nook, but last I knew, a Nook didn't come with a web browser. With the help of its web browser, the Kindle enables me to look up information on Wikipedia, as well as follow links to websites that may be in some books. I also like that the Kindle lets me add custom fonts. This lets me use the fonts I want to use instead of the ones that come on the Kindle, and it makes it easier to read different books in different fonts, which helps simulate the experience of reading books with different typefaces. I also appreciate how the Kindle has a larger area to tap on to turn the page. So, with a Kindle, I'm less likely to accidentally turn back to the previous page when I meant to go to the next page.
This was very helpful thanks. I’m considering getting an E-reader even though I really like paper books. I’ve been trying to get back into my love of reading and put down the social media and all that more. Based on what I’ve seen so far I would prefer a kindle paperwhite. Good enough battery life for me and I’m fine with buying an Amazon thing if it means more books I can buy from and using Libby and all that. So if I do I probably will pick a kindle
Always enjoy your videos. The nook display in most Barnes and Noble stores is dismal to say the least. I question if the support and development is continual compared to other devices.
It is not. B&N drops support for their devices over time as demonstrated with their earlier devices, which they have functionally bricked out by my experience.
Am leaning towards a kindle, but I have concern about what Amazon may do regarding pricing and policies moving forward (given that I'm only 30 & Amazon may exist the rest of my life). The $20 fee to remove ads could be just the beginning of a higher fee for new buyers, which may turn into an ad free trial that may become its own subscription. They would likely discount the fee by bundling it in with Amazon Prime or something, which I currently have no need for. B&N could easily do the same thing, but considering the track record of each company, Amazon would clearly be sooner to start this trend.
I have a kindle basic, which is the same size as the nook at 6 in. Literally the only think I really dislike about it is the power button location and that lack of page turn buttons, as my last kindle was the keyboard gen, which I got when I was 14, broke when I was 19, and finally replaced this year at 27 with the basic. I remember the power button used to be a slide button, and I really miss that, it didn’t matter if you hit it or not since you had to actually slide the button to turn it off. I just wish Amazon would bring back page turn buttons for a decent price point cause 250 for PAGE TURN BUTTONS?! That’s insane.
I like so much about the Nook. But it appears NOT to have a dark mode/white on black. Would you happen to know? I finally have to update from an ancient Kindle Fire, so time to get an official e-reader. Thanks for the review (and super scientific comparison).
I have the new Nook. Having had the older one, I miss having the book covers in color. They all look the same on this new Nook. I do like the size of the new one though.
I have a Kindle Fire, Kindle Paperwhite Signature and Nook 4e . I enjoy them all though I tend to read for my Paperwhite the most. I am hoping to read my Nook more this year as the buttons are for sure a big plus and I like that it's slightly more compact. I didn't realize that there was Lend Me option which is really cool. Amazon used to have that option but took it away :( .
Interesting video, lots of information, good options for sure. At the end of the video it was said that the Nook is 10 dollars more expensive as of the making of this video and that is inaccurate, the Kindle is 10 dollars more expensive because the nook doesn't have ads, if you remove the ads from the kindle it is 10 dollars more expensive. Just saying.
I had a Nook years ago. Gave up on them when I had to return 3 of them because some the lights around the edges started dimming so there were bright spots and shadows.
I have just got the nook glow light 4 e as a gift from my wife and i like it..if money grew on trees I'd like to obtain a boox e reader as they look great.. I'm torn if I'd get a Kindle the Kobo e readers look good as well.. I'm going ti eventually get other e readers I'm sure.. I was considering a used Kindle but I don't know I'll want to pay subscriptions on top of the purchase is going to deter me from possibly buying one.
Did you mention in the video how to get the ads removed for free like you said you’d do, I think? I saw a post about calling Amazon to ask for it. Is that the way?
My husband read on Reddit you can complain to Amazon saying your kids saw some inappropriate ads for saucy reading material not age appropriate. He called and they were quick to get the ads removed for free. (We have no kids lol)
It wasnt mentioned what version is that. So that plum kindle paperwhite is the 10th gen right? Without the warm lights. Thats not the 6.8 inches kindle paperwhite 11th gen theres no plum variation of paperwhite 11th gen
I have both kindle paperwhire2012 and book 2013 and the book is significantly slower. They are both fine when reading but the kindle wins because of its connectivity to Libby. The book page turn buttons are fine but really loud when reading at night.
I wonder if any ebook can allow writer publish ebook without need computer or internet ..i was so hopeless that intent to goes to typewriter and microfith reader
Libby by OverDrive is built into Kobo devices by default. If you log into your library account on the device (under a menu called OverDrive), the eBooks you have borrowed AUTOMATICALLY show up on the Kobo. You do not need to "send" them, nor do you need any other special account.
honestly i do think it's kinda silly when people say amazon charges for ad removal. like it's really just a cheaper ad subsidized version of the device. the ads-free one is the "default," for the same price, in many countries. people just go for the ad supported version, and then complain that it's ad supported.
I have an Oasis and Nook GL4 Nook 4 is much better for reading 📖 Unlike the Paperwhite: Nook 4 has the power button on the top where it should be. This was the reason I ditched my PW for the Oasis. Awesome 👏 Next is the Kobo Libra Colour !!
I don't understand caring about audible on an eReader. It just seems something a phone handles better.I guess some people really care. I just don't get it. Kobos also allow boring books through Libby. It's built in too the device. You browse through Overdrive directly on the device. Books, I like the hardware, but probably would recommend a Kindle over it. I prefer Kobo over both. It is a shame B&N haven't worked to improve their software.
Some times its good to be in Canada Amazon Canada dose not have ads on the front screen at all on any of the kindles tables so that's on less con for me :P
The nook looks like the original cheap Kindle from 5+ years ago with the raised bezels, I really don't see it as a competitive device to more modern kindles.
Hi, Dylan, I bought a new Kindle paperwhite after haven’t used one for two years and I found that all my English books have stupid notices trying to „explain“ to me basic English words. It’s annoying as hell and I can’t read such trash! How do I remove those? I speak more than one language and my device language is German because I didn’t want to register my book in England nor in USA.
If you're just using your reader for novels, yes, you don't need a ton of space. However, if you want to use it for cookbooks, graphic novels, or anything else that is illustrated, you'd be surprised how much space they can eat up. Last I looked, I had ~27GB in my library. Of course, neither of these would be ideal for graphic novels or cookbooks anyway, so perhaps it's a moot point.
I just got the nook glowlight 4+ because so many articles I read said it was just as good as the other e-readers when it comes to reading borrowed books. Lies!!! Imagine my horror when I had to learn how to sideload books from my laptop onto the nook. I literally cried because none of the instrctions were working. I did finally get my book to load but it was a huge hassle and took me over an hour to figure out. Im considering switching to a kindle now, but damn it im sick of supporting Jeff Bezos !!! Anyways helpful review! I wish I watched it before I purchased my Nook.
Guys, if you have the kindle with ads, reach out to customer service and ask them if they could please remove it. 90% of the time they'll do it for free.
wont lie, when you factor in audiobook even 32gb is not alot at all, i meand its managable but for someone who listens to books and reads them, its not enough
I think another con it seems like there won’t be any more kindle upgrades or devices as they are no longer going to be focusing on kindles if I read correctly not sure.
If I get ad's activated on a device I purchase I give it terrible reviews and suggest people just don't buy it, I shouldn't have to manually fix it or pay more to get no ad's.
I’m a kindle paperwhite girl all the way. I have the highest storage just in case. Its better to have and not need then to need and not have. The power button has never been an issue. Maybe I’m holding it wrong…which I’ll continue to do😂.
I watch all the reviews only after I have already purchased the device, because I prefer to live on the edge.
lol me too
me 2 lol more of us out there apparently!!!
Lmao I do this too!! Nice to know I’m not the only one
That's super hot😍

The Nook definitely has some neat features! I really, really like the page turn buttons. And that's really cool, I'll have to check that out!
How do you get the free book every Friday? Do you need a Nook for that?
That's nice to know
I like how natural your lighting is and those colorful books on the back
The color can be really important. I wish Kindle had left the option of white color.
Agreed! I really do like to look of the Nook
I used to have a white Kindle Paperwhite, but it distracted me from reading. Now I owe the black one and this is way too better for me😊
There's a short on RUclips where this girl cut some paper and put it into her kindle case after she put her stickers in the case to give it a white background type of look. There's another video (made y someone else entirely) where the lady spray painted her kindle white. I have seen some wild videos in my e-reader research lol

Same!

Some times its good to be in Canada Amazon Canada dose not have ads on the front screen at all on any of the kindles tables so that's on less con for me :P
Just get a kobo libra 2
The nook looks like the original cheap Kindle from 5+ years ago with the raised bezels, I really don't see it as a competitive device to more modern kindles.
Power button should be a power slide just like before
Hi, Dylan, I bought a new Kindle paperwhite after haven’t used one for two years and I found that all my English books have stupid notices trying to „explain“ to me basic English words. It’s annoying as hell and I can’t read such trash! How do I remove those?
I speak more than one language and my device language is German because I didn’t want to register my book in England nor in USA.
hello i have the kindle fire do you have any videos for the kindle fire?
Dylan ThanksMuch for posting ! get the stuff for your wife, no questions asked!😚
haha gotta do it!
I see that Grant and John Adams book back there. 🤓
Does anyone know if bookshare can be used a Kindle?
I have the kindle but I now want a nook 👀
There are stickers for the front
Guys, if you have the kindle with ads, reach out to customer service and ask them if they could please remove it. 90% of the time they'll do it for free.
wont lie, when you factor in audiobook even 32gb is not alot at all, i meand its managable but for someone who listens to books and reads them, its not enough
Audiobooks add up quick, that's for sure!
I think another con it seems like there won’t be any more kindle upgrades or devices as they are no longer going to be focusing on kindles if I read correctly not sure.
What?!
Whoa! I haven't heard that!
Haven't heard that anywhere, I have heard that about Nook.
Power button pisses me off on the reg. Ugh.
I actually lik e the new nook
I just put washi tapes on my Kindles to make them match their cases 😂😂
If I get ad's activated on a device I purchase I give it terrible reviews and suggest people just don't buy it, I shouldn't have to manually fix it or pay more to get no ad's.
Boycotting Amazon- is Nook Barnes and noble?
Yes
You neeeed to check out Kobo
$150 isn’t bad for that device I would say
color pink is very important to girls and not so girl
What’s wrong with naked werewolves? 😂😂😂
hahahahahaahahahaha nailed it with the weird romance recommendations
I’m a kindle paperwhite girl all the way. I have the highest storage just in case. Its better to have and not need then to need and not have. The power button has never been an issue. Maybe I’m holding it wrong…which I’ll continue to do😂.
Seems like you have dropped some weight, congrats if that was your goal
Libbbyyyy🎉
No, nook is not better. Is good but not better
