@@TwoWheelRoccoYour video's have helped me out tremendously with my recent purchase of a 96 XL1200C Sportster. Do you happen to have any videos of carburetor float adjustment? I recently rebuilt my carburetor and it is pouring gas out of the overflow tube. It also seems to have lost a lot of throttle response as well. I purchased it from the original owner who had the same problem after rebuilding the carburetor, that's why he sold it to me. So two carburetor rebuilds within 18 months and they both leak out of the overflow tube. Thank You 👍

Just yesterday I adjusted the air/fuel idle mixture screw, and the idle on my 2000 model FXDWG. I think I got it right now, 1 and 1/2 turns out. The bike starts easily, cold with the enrichener pulled out. After engine warm up while riding, the enrichener goes back in by itself. It sounds better at idle now, and runs like a scalded ass ape! Thanks for your videos Rocco!
Thank You for another great how to video Rocco! I've got an 87 fxrs low rider sport that I need to pull the carb off of and give it a cleaning. Doesn't run well and fouling the plugs. A shop was supposed to clean carb and drain and clean tank, but they didn't do all of the job as it fouled out on the way home and I was so disgusted with the service I didn't want to take my bike back to them. Thanks for videos that help people do the job themselves and have a better understanding of how their bike works. Hoping to get 'er running again as I miss riding it. Hi- Awesome video! The audio/visuals and content along w ur great explanations were terrific. Sorry for this ‘stupid q or 2’ but I had to stop riding my 99 dyna super glide 9 yrs ago. I’m Far from being a gear head and thought it’d b a temp thing so I filled tank n added stabile. Smfh- i shoukd have ram it dry. Ram fine bfore I stored it- but heard of stories gas tank could become varnished n carb gummed up. So I think il drain oil, gas, basically All fluids n replace the guts u did w carb n have a buddy inspect gas tank. Should/could I change guts in carb w gas in tank? Guess it doesn’t make sense if it’s going to have to be changed anyway. Do u think it’s best to drain gas tank n change same couple parts u did -or u think the carb will need to have all parts changed ? Sorry long winded. Thanks
Happy to help. You'll need to drain that gas tank then you will need to clean the carburetor. Install a brand new battery and then see what you got. Try to start it. Have to do this. 04 883 13k on it and running with stage one never rejetted or tuned up. I am new to riding a harley but it sounds good when running a whike otherwise i pop and get slow throttle response at times. Not sure if the low tone sound of the engine blending together coming out my exhaust at times is due to carb but i would imagine cleaning and jetting will only improve it. Thanks for all your content
Happy to help. The first thing I would do is check my air filter. Sportster's and Harleys in general are notorious for oil getting on the air filter. Next make sure the oil is only halfway on your oil dipstick. I find many times too much oil in the motor and on your the air filter. Which leads to a poorly running motorcycle. If she ran good, then you don't need to play with the Jets, air filter. Spray carburetor with carburetor cleaner, clean filter. Let us know how that works out. Thank you for watching and all your support Joe. Ride safe and have a great day.
Great videos. I have learned a lot from your videos. My son and i have been working on a 1988 883 xlh that has been sitting for 12 years. However, i had to get a replacement cv carb because the person who had it before used a carb that wasn't a cv. I am not sure what size pilot and main jets to use. Any suggestions? Your videos have been so helpful and instructive.

From the factory, it would be 1 3/4. Two turns out would be a good place to start. Start up and make adjustments and see where you get your best throttle response. Let us know how it works out.
Hey rocco first off I wanna start by saying your videos are awesome and they really helped me out and I’ve learned so much from them they’ve been a blessing unfortunately right now I’m going on like 40 hours working on the sportster I can’t get it to spark there seems to be no spark hi call I wrote it this morning after cleaning and rebuilding the carb …its getting gas into the carb its coming out the nozzle the spark plugs are new the gas is new the starter relay is new battery is new and still no spark ……it wants to go but it just cant im stuck ive got the service manual and gone through it front to back and tested the coil battery starter etc etc …..where do i go from here? Im so frustrated. I really need some guidance i don’t understand why it wont start up it starts up once in a blue moon then dies…..ive checked the electrical cables for cracks or splits and nothing …..any advice? Ive watched all the videos and gone through um and nothing is working! So frustrated!!!

Hey brother, thank you for the video I installed an 800cc kawasaki vtwin in a golf cart. Vids on my channel. It was a bobber project that was abandoned, so I pulled the engine for my use. It has the same carb but I've been having many issues. Mines has been overflowing fuel. My tank is below the carb so I'm having to use a vacuum fuel pump. The diagram I have shows the Inlet on the top rt side instead of bottom lft and mine are both plastic. Can you change the plastic inlets and how? And you think my information is incorrect, or did they have other models.. My "overflow" is a white nipple on the left and nipple is pointing to the opposite side of the engine. I have a black nipple on the right of carb higher than the one on the left, and the nipple points up. Or do I have my fuel line on the wrong Inlet? Cheers
I'm not that familiar with the Kawasaki 800 V twins. But you could look it up on RUclips. You'll find out what you need. Go to Ebay pull up the part.. All the information is out there. Good luck with your project. Thank you for watching, and all your support, gottoKnowJoe.. Ride safe and have a great holiday. I will go to your site and see what you're into. Sounds great.
Hey Rocco, I've been working on a 03 883xl, I've watched a couple videos about your carb work and I've followed them very well. Problem is after flushing the needle and replacing on the diaphragm it still doesn't squirt fuel. I've taken the accelerator pump apart and flipped the diaphragm over, because I know that can be a common problem on old car carbs, but I've taken it apart twice and it still isn't working, what should I do?
Happy to help, you really can't turn the diaphragm around because it has a lip seal. I'm will send you a video that will help you out. @@TwoWheelRocco actually I do have a question for ya. If yr familiar with the Sportster l, I just got an old 1994 883 with no kickstand spring. I bought the kickstand spring and it doesn't fit. The bracket on the top has a slot, not just a hole for the pin. So the kickstand pin will move about 1" toward the frame when it is put up so the spring just falls off the peg that's on the frame. The bracket is welded to the frame so I think it's original. It doesn't look like a jiffy stand though. Any advice would be great.

I just have a question. I am 68 years old and purchased my first H-D when I was 18. I do all my own service, repairs and mods. This question is in regards to the head breather bolts on a 2006, 1200 C. I know what the breather bolts do and why they are there. I just want to know, in your opinion, can the breather ports in the head just be sealed off / up with regular bolts. In essence just getting rid of the breather head ports. I have never done this, I am just curious if the heads need the breather function or is it an EPA thing.

My accelerator needle doesn’t shoot out a steady stream as yours does. It comes out like a garden hose without a nozzle on it. Would this be an indication that I need to replace the accelerator pump??
Happy to help. I would try to force air or cleaner through that needle while you have it removed. Make sure it's functional with compressed air. Try to find a small wire brush, hair, remove a peace of metal wire and use that to clean needle. Sounds like it's clogged, you can clean it out reinstall, clean test reinstall. I’m having an issue with my 97 dyna. For some reason the carburetor isn’t getting fuel I bypassed the vacuum actuated petcock, and the issue is still not resolved. Any advice?
Happy to help. How did you bypass your diaphragm Petcock? If you're not getting gas that's from the tank to the carburetor. Puzzle wine on the Carburator on the Carburator side and see if Fuel is pouring out by your disconnected Diaphragm on your peacock and that should help you figure out what your what's going on. Rebuild the Petcock, check the screen in the gas tank. Make sure you're flowing fuel and then everything else you're fall in line. Any questions just ask. Happy to help. HD will not have that part. You're lucky if you could buy the carburetor there. Thank you for watching all your support Brad ride safe and have a great.
The first question is is how much did you pay for it second there's a lot of Chinese knock offs out there and parts don't fit perfect. I would spray it and see if you have a vacuum leak when the motor is running couple squirts here and there by the seals, and if the idle raises, you know you have a leak. Let us know how it works out. Happy Thanksgiving.

Hey! I have a question. So I just bought a 2006 sportster 1200 low from a guy that let it sit in his garage for a year. He overfilled it with oil and it fouled the spark plugs and was in the air filter. I followed your videos and cleaned the jets and put new spark plugs and an air filter in. Whenever it idles after warming up it’ll idle fine then it kind of skips a beat and will almost bog down then go back to idling (sometimes it does bog down and kill the engine). Any idea what this is? By looking at the spark plugs it looks like it’s running rich. Would it be I need to adjust my air fuel mixture or does this sound like something else?
Happy to help. Make sure you oil level on the dipstick is halfway in between those two marks most important run it without the air filter in your garage and see how she breeds and then check your oil level, halfway no more. Another popular problem is the petcock Diaphragm fails, and this will cause fuel to work its way into your system, making a very rich running motorcycle. I will send you the video on how to test your Petcock and then we'll go from there. ruclips.net/video/7Fo9Q93OJXI/видео.html. That's not how it works out. @@TwoWheelRocco let the bike set to cool and the oil is barely over half full, barely. there was some oil seeping through the new air filter and can see some in the carburetor i believe. not sure what's going on, but it looks like it’s coming through the breather bolts

Bro.ken here. What is the shelf life of a new carb? How long would the rubber components last, sitting in a bag/box?
The first question is is how much did you pay for it second there's a lot of Chinese knock offs out there and parts don't fit perfect. I would spray it and see if you have a vacuum leak when the motor is running couple squirts here and there by the seals, and if the idle raises, you know you have a leak. I wonder if I have a open valve leak or gas leak because my bike keeps chocking when I turn it on . And a lil white puff of smoke comes out
Happy to help. First thing I would do is test the Petcock because that's where it starts. How does your bike start in the morning with the choke on? It all tells you something, if you have a bad needle jet. morning time you probably have a situation that the motor is rich.. That's why we need to check the Petcock first then you can move on too the float needle jet. I'll send the video. Thank you for watching and all your support.
@@Cabnnn Run the bike, cycling through so the oil will start to dissipate. What happened was when the bike sat for a long period of time the oil drain into the dry sump of the Sportster motor. Then old owner refilled oil Thinking low oil. It will take a little bit for it to work it's way out, check your oil levels, because it will start to get high again and you will have to much oil in your bike,. This is called Oil sumping.

I will send you a video on how to test your petcock, That's where it all starts ruclips.net/video/7Fo9Q93OJXI/видео.html. If your vacuum line is collapsing or not working, or has a leak, your diaphragm in your Petcock will fail to work, which will starve your motorcycle of fuel. Bought a 2006 sportster that has only been ridden 3k miles. The batterry died and i tried to start it for a while. (Its was running before the battery died). Eventually i gave up trying to start and just charged the battery. Now the by its turning over but wont catch. Im lost and completely new to bikes. Any advice anyone?
You will need a new battery. Go to Harley Davidson and buy one of theirs. Today batteries are sore issue. China is deep into us. HD battery. And that's what will start your Sportster.. Thank you for watching and all your support. Jess. Let us know how it works out we'll get you running one thing at a time, that battery probably does not have the cold crank amps that you need
@@TwoWheelRocco will be replacing the battery tomorrow. And adding fresh gas.
Let us know how it works out.
@@TwoWheelRocco replaced the battery today. With new gas in it. The sportster is turning over and has spark. But still not catching. Note. When i first bought it it hadn’t been ridden much. I didnt now how to ride and stalled the bike multiple times. It was running good . But after taking highway patrol mortocycle safety classes and charging the battery it did not start.
Happy to help. If it started before and then you fooled around with the battery, I would check the battery reinstall. And you said it's a new battery so I don't understand why you had to charge it. Batteries are important. I must have a new battery. Thank you for watching and all your support Jesse. Drive safe and have a great day.
I replace those screws with stainless hex heads.
Happy to help. That is good advice. Swapping out those screws. Thank you for watching and all your support Randal.. Ride safe and have a great day.
