    SBC should try for UTSA and Noth Texas. Adds more Texas recruiting and helps Ark St, TXST and Louisiana schools for travel

    • @TheJayquarters
      @TheJayquarters 17 дней назад

      Why would UTSA & UNT leave AAC with average annual distribution $8-10 million to go to a conference with average annual distribution < $1-2 million. For reference, both UTSA & UNT just left the CUSA where distribution is ~ $1 million.

    • @moffprof02

      @@TheJayquarters
      It depends on how the dominos fall in realignment. If AAC loses Memphis and Tulane to PAC, if ACC takes USF… and so forth, then the AAC Texas schools may be a good fit in the SBC with a higher per year distribution than a stripped AAC.
      That’s what happened to CUSA.

    I don’t want to leave and yall know I’ve pushed SBC supremacy and so have most Bobcats but we have always been on an island over here in the west in the SBC with no good rivalries etc. and high travel costs. If unt and utsa and rice came to the SBC I would prefer the SBC. But attendance blows up with regional rivalries Texas state puts 50k in the Alamodome when they play with utsa and sales out at home when they play here. We need regional rivalries.

      All 4 of them really belong in the Pac and fit the Pac 12 Culture more. Sam Houston State absolutely fit the Sun Belt Culture along with when they eventually move up SFA.

  • @Suchatool98
    @Suchatool98 17 дней назад +2

    The thing with adding more schools is once we get past 16 teams, and if we do go over that, the divisions dissolve. At 16 teams everyone plays 8 conference games, with a pairing of “protected rivalries”, then play the remaining 13 teams once every three to four years. So the yearly rivalries go away for in-division games.

    Being realistic I would say the other teams to consider would be in no particular order LA Tech, Sam Houston State, MTSU, Western Kentucky, and FIU. If Texas State stays which I hope they do see about Sam Houston State so they have a travel partner and someone else to make 16. Maybe Liberty for another eastern team.

    I like your idea of separating football from the other sports. Travel cost would be so much better that way. Not a "buy low sell high" situation. Rather its more of being at the right place at the right time. Although with TXST's new president, the success has a certain sense of permanence. LaTech, is an obvious addition. They would improve ticket sales for all western SBC teams. Sam Houston State would be another great addition. The bearkats have a lot of work to do as far as facilities, but otherwise would be a slam dunk addition in the coming years.

    They always go for city size or school size first possible big marketing and not by history or records. USM is a prime example. They owned CUSA up until the first Cusa exit. Had winning records against Houston, Memphis, UCF, ECU,SMU, USF and Tulane. It wasnt even close if you went by record and history yet they all moved on because of location, school size or city size and not because of success on the field. Its all about that money or possible money making and not history. Which is Sad cause it has killed some really good football programs. Nothing against Texas St just saying they not looking for success as much as they are money lol

      I don't think they do. Harrisonburg, Huntington, and Hattiesburg are relatively small college towns with passionate fan bases. Much better than having FAU or FIU just for the TV markets and population.
