The Pac is an upgrade from the WCC! Some of the WCC teams theirs gyms look like high school gyms!
They really do I’ve often said that when watching their games on TV lol
Gonzaga has a top tier basketball program that has continually made money through basketball. It also has sport programs such as Baseball, track and field and more that the other universities are missing. The also have a good academic record. They offer enough already without football.
Don't forget that Gonzaga used to be part of the Pac-10 North, so there is history (not that long ago) for baseball being part of the Pac-10
They dont have a stadium or any space on or near campus to build one. The new spokane HS stadium is too small and not alot of room to expand even if it is close to campus
The new CPKC Stadium (Kansas City Current, NWSL) seats 11,000 and cost $120 million.
I did visit ONE Spokane this summer. Nice place. Tight space. I don’t think it’s getting expanded without a Boca Juniors solution that really adds to the cost.
Just think...zags could play central Washington at Joe albi Stadium!!
A local sales tax to fund it, is the only way they could fund it. Although Gonzaga is hugely popular within Spokane, so I guess it's possible.
lol football makes the money that would help Gonzaga let’s be honest if they announce they coming back wit a football u would be hype but saying football would hurt the basketball team but they might help out the university as a whole more money means better players to bring in football n basketball NIL
UTSA would add for the Football tho. Which would carry a non exciting Gonzaga football but UTSA would welcome y'all to create a football program which all other conferences wouldn't even let you because they expect y'all to fail 🤷🏽♂️
No. The costs are outrageous and the TV college football money is only going to collapse for those not in the Big or SEC.

It is a fantasy ask to start a football program from scratch and assume to be competitive.
Being competitive isn’t that important, it would mainly just allow us in better conferences
Serious question from an outsider: why don’t Gonzaga and St Mary’s just join the Big East? That’s a power league for basketball with no need to deal with football.

@@aBrewster29 Well, Gonzaga is in Spokane, and the next closest school is in Omaha. It’s not easy to join a conference so far away, but the fit is there, so it’s been discussed. Maybe one day
@@f.r.etling6226 I’ve wondered if geography is fading as an obstacle in a situation like that, now that the ACC, Big Ten and Big 12 are essentially coast to coast leagues. It’s definitely different without football, but enough to be a deal breaker?
@@aBrewster29 Only time will tell. It’s been enough of an obstacle to slow things down and keep Gonzaga in the WCC, but maybe as conferences keep changing it eventually happens.
You also have to consider the other sports. Andy mentions this on the show a lot, but no conference would accept Gonzaga’s other sports without basketball. so if the Big East takes us they have to take all of us, or we stay put
If the pac 2 wants cal and standord back. They need the reaining spots to br nyu's. Georgetown, uconn, etc, etc. If clemson and florida state leave, acc. Bring cal, smu, stanford, notre dame, duke, and miami to pac 2. Evrything else for footbalmonly is b.s. the other power conferences are good at majority of sports not only football. Fresno state and boise depending on softball at that level? Stfu no name bs..... Thats what the remaining 6-10 spots need if pac 2 goes 11-16. The other conferences already have 16. Thinking about 18 colleges. Not mountain west.

The pac 2 better add 10-12 nyu's or they will be trash in 2026. Fresno state and boise will be left out. Pac 2 will be mountain west brother. The other power confferences arent building. They are adding and expandibg to 16-18 teams. Not adding boise states to theif conferences. Pac 12 logo will be trash in 2026. A yr to add 16 teams -18 like power conferences. Begin adding georgetown......to pac 16.... Add nyu....or leave.... No way stanford trades notre dame, duke, boston college, to go back and build pac 2 mountaun west colleges nationwide
Nope Zags would suck at football if starting from scratch. It'll take years for a division 1 FBS to be good and especially with no stadium it would really hurt to recruit.
