    I love my Korg Trinity even though so many years is of course technology moves forward but the execution and warm sound does not always progress when it comes to the synthesis of sounds and heat mainly I'm talking about synthetic sound, however, because acoustic instruments sound better known in the new technologies of course. This is my subjective opinion. Great presentation !! Both represent a great synthesizer. Piano, Guitar and combi orchestra I like more in Korg, rest sounds Roland better from my opinion. Greetings from Poland

    Drums - FA-06
    Rhodes - FA-06
    Piano - FA-06
    Organ - FA-06
    Steel Acoustic - Krome
    String and Woodwind - Krome
    Distorted Guitar - FA-06
    Synth Lead - FA-06

      In my opinion the FA 06 has better acoustic guitar sounds. Currently I own a Krome and and have compared its sounds with Juno Gi. Acoustic guitar patches by Roland are far better (maybe the same can't be concluded from this video).

      Piano acústico . Moxf6 Rhodes. Moxf6 órgão moxf6 dá uma surra nesses dois . E outra o moxf6 e muito mas teclado. Muito mas confortável . Yamaha.

    Make no mistake, both are sonically great. They are separated by nuances. Technically, Roland wins, as it was more samples on disposal and 16 insert effects compared to only 5 of Krome, plus a set of pads. But it is really down to which nuances you like more, especially in live playing.

    Did try both at a music store and ended up with the FA 08. What an incredible machine, plus you get loads of free tones and patches from the axial site.

    fa-06 good for synthizer. but Krome more realistic in natural sound

  • @DjazzStyle

    To be honest: I have a Krome 61, and a Fa-06. I play both in church, through a very expensive PA. I have to say, The FA-06 overall sounds better for me and its more organic to me. I hate the Krome action! I have to say The Krome Sounds really good too. I love the Electric pianos in it, and Synths! The Organs are horrible on the Krome! But really, playing with a band, the Krome sounds horrible, believe me :) It just don't sound right in the mix live for me! But don't get me wrong, the style of music I play, the Krome does not do it for me. I say, if you like Techno, Dubstep, House, Club music, go with Krome, because the sounds are very processed, and they are not the way organic instruments supposed to sound. If you like Gospel, Reggae, Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Caribbean, and other styles of music, The FA-06 is for you. The synths sound more realistic and has more life to them in the FA-06. One thing you guys have to know, the presets used in both boards in this video are factory presets. (I hate factory presets) I edit my own sounds! There are endless possibilities you can do with both boards! There are no wrong answers when it come to professional instruments. Its about what works for you! One last thing, you know how I said I don't like the Krome? : Well, recently I attended a concert, it sounded amazing! It's not the instrument, it's the player folks.
    Try it before you buy it.

      This is the exact review I needed - we were stuck between the Korg Krome and the Fa-08 for Church, judging by what you're saying, I think the Fa-08 is a better choice.

    The Korg Krome has the resonance of the acoustic piano, It would be interesting to show when a chord is played with the sustain pedal pressed or not pressed. The ambiance of this tone makes all the difference in the Korg Krome.

    I have them both, and both sounds great.
    Handle the sequencer of the FA is much easier.
    The KROME is better in arpeggio-mode and has interactive chord controlling like an arranger keyboard.
    KROME & FA is a good combination!

  • @MattyS54

    Krome sounds way better to my ears. yes that might mean more compressed, darker etc but there's a fullness to the sound that's lacking in the Roland. yes you can mess with the EQ but i'm going on what i hear here and what gives me a vibe and Korg wins by a landslide. there's a harshness to the tone of the FA i can pick out in every video demoing it.

    The factory piano, synth, etc. sounds on the last 15 years' worth of workstation keyboards are pretty close to each other... get any 'board and you're in business. It's the "knowing what to do with it" part that remains elusive to coding :D

  • @pcuimac
    @pcuimac 11 лет назад +13

    The Krome sounds were spot on. The FA-06 sounds were suboptimal for the songs you played, so it's difficult to say wich ones better. The Axel F. for example was much better on the Krome but just because the sounds were like the originals. Maybe loading a SRX sound library would do the trick or tweaking the original sounds of the Roland. jm2c

    • @achamilton
      @achamilton  11 лет назад +6

      Thanks for the comment, this is indeed something which is always against us on sound comparison videos. Some sounds work with certain songs better than others, but we just choose from a huge list of preset sounds so we do not create stuff that is not in the product, just like to show off factory resets. Lots of tweaking can be done on both products to create the sounds you desire.

    • @Eisenwald64

      That and the fact that Roland has released a new soundbank for the Fa-04 expanding the piano sound:
      axial.roland.com/articles/exp-04-concert-piano-collection/
      You are only reviewing built-in presets, but keep in mind that they may update these synths. I'd rather have them both.

      There were sounds that sound better on roland... Piano are a bit subtle on Roland and guitar on korg play alone, roland and Korg had differnt strnghts on Wind and Strings... ITs a tie on wind and strings...

    • @DanVilleneuve
      @DanVilleneuve 7 лет назад +1

      With regard to Axel F, I have it set up to be almost like the original sounds that Harold used on my FA-08. The sound that was chosen on this demo is a poor choice from the existing library and doesn't do it justice. It only took me about 10 minutes to find the right sounds. BTW, use a split (and a studio set) and put in the correct bass and other sounds to do the song justice.

  • @MusicisPartofMe5
    @MusicisPartofMe5 9 лет назад +5

    Combi/Split - tie (really they're two different sounds so they can't be compared but the roland drums are impressive
    Piano - Krome (Rolands sounded muddier)
    Jazz organ - Krome (The Krome had way more bottom end, Rolands sounded cheap and fizzy, the vibrato was nice though)
    Steel Acoustic - Krome (Krome had more depth even though both sounds sucked)
    Strings and Woodwinds - Krome (Krome had more bass and clearer highs from the winds)
    Electric guitar - Tie (both sounds sucked)
    Synth Lead - Roland (The reverb gave it a nice big sound)
    Overall id say krome wins.

      ***** The only balanced choice out of the 3 midrange workstations is the MOXF. But I'm thinking twice because I could get a lot of software + an 88 key controller for just over half the price. I'm still going to cry every time I see Korg's joystick tho.

    If the FA could do the VR-09 organs sounds it would be a no brainer! I have the Krome, I find the sounds (especially pads) to be very compressed and tinny, all highs and lows even with midrange eq turned up. The Rolands have always had a nice Pad and strings sound.

    Thanks instruments2go for this video. I owe Korg Krome and I do really like the sound - tried some Roland in similar price range - couldn't find anything as good as this Korg. Maybe Integra bu this is about 400 quid more. There are some things Korg should work on - VST plugin to control Krome from your DAW not working under 64bit systems. It has also issue with storing fx sends when it's connected via USB to computer - I'll try to find some time to make an video about this issue.

    Hello and thanks for Sharing..i have a question. if i want to do Electronic Music, Sound Scape Lush Strings and Virutal Analog Sounds, which would be the best Keyboard. i'm used to Synths like the Ultra Nova, Access Virus and Elektron. So if i were to purchase either the Korg or the Roland for Electronic music which would be the best...

    • @achamilton
      @achamilton  11 лет назад

      Thanks for the question, as a store we have to be unbiased and just give people information about the product so they can decide which product is best for them. One person would prefer Roland, one Korg, One Yamaha etc etc so there is no specific 'this is the best product' but only what you deem best for your needs on the information the store can give you. If you require any specific features that may be required for your music production then we can assist with that and answer your questions.The only real way to tell is to play these things for yourself and listen to them on the same sound system.

    Why Midi files don't sound properly after rendering out as it sounds properly while recording software tracks on any DAW. I mean what's the use of midi files when am unable to get the proper sounds as we hear during the recoding of any midi track on a Daw like Logic pro but when I export to .midi files the sound gets muffled then what's the use of midi when am unable to store my Midi backing track using software instruments which is same as midi only on Logic pro.

    I have a Fantom X7 since 2004 ! Excelent instrument. Very strong instrument reliable. The reason I'm with Roland is it's excelent features and ease on the workstation. Very easy to use! Surely the Fantom FA-06 continues with this tradition with more updated sounds. And the price very much lower than my Fantom which I bought 10 years ago. It's a Bang in a Buck! Go for it! PEACE to all.

    These 2 keyboards should not be compared. They are designed for different uses. If you want to compare sounds, features, and functions for the PRICE, then the Roland FA wins. Just bought the FA-06. However, somewhere down the road I'll also purchase the Korg Kronos X. Amazing keyboard, but expensive.

      Sorry, you are wrong. The Fa06 and the Krome are both mid level workstations created for the SAME use and they are the best candidate to be compared the one to the other. Another thing, comparing anything to the price is very relative because different people will have different points they consider relevant.

    The Krome has the touch screen, but it doesn't have Tone Remain like the Fa and for that the Fa wins. I can't stand trying to switch between sounds during a gig and the sound abruptly stops when switching sounds. The Roland Fa has Tone Remain like the Kronos has SST. It doesn't make any sense for a keyboard of the level of the Krome not to have that basic function.

    Very well done comparison videos. Good audio. But these type of videos are very subjective. Even if you added the Kronos, Motif and Nord stage 2 in this mix, although there might be a consensus, no one board would win. I Personally prefer a Kurzweil K2600, but the Roland FA had some surprises and I have always loved Korgs warmth.. Both Piano's suck........ for a classical solo performance, but in a mix.. flip a coin. IMO.

    I was initially leaning toward the Roland, but as I continued to listen my overall impression was that the Roland sounds like a Roland, and the Korg can sound like many things. The sample based sounds were better on the Korg, IMHO. That said, I have a Kronos- mainly for the amazing piano sound, so am partial to it. Played a Krome once and wasn't impressed, but that was compared to the Kronos. Have had Roland keyboards in the past too.

    I love how entirely different sounding instruments were used to compare keyboards in completely different price segments. This is not an accurate sound demo and while I am not bias, you really made an effort to pick sounds to make the Roland sound poor. Good work Korg rep!

    I think the Krome just edges it for me. I have owned Roland keyboards in the past and the sounds are usually true to the original instrument, however, I do feel that the grand piano on the Korg had the edge. I have a Mox8 which I love to bits and will probably never sell, but for something to gig with I am seriously considering the Krome 73 as it has drum patterns that are instantly added to a song and is it also lighter than the Mox, which I get really nervous about taking anywhere as it is quite heavy for me to carry. Now to find a good condition, low priced second hand one! :)

    The Roland FA wins. It has a bolder more realistic sound, except the first song, the bass line needed a little work. I have a Roland FA-08 and a Korg Krome; also a couple less important Yamaha and Casio keyboards. I like the Roland a lot though and never thought I would say that until just a couple years ago, it's the most amazing thing.

      +Matthew Garufi Of Audio Fix Productions It all depends on how much you want to spend... The Kronos is the current "Flagship" Korg workstation, the Krome is aimed more at the "budget" market - it's not as capable as the Kronos, having just a single synth engine instead of nine for Kronos, but what it can do for $1000, it does extremely well. Also, the Krome is the official "successor" of the M50, and is 99.99% compatible with M50 patches, so...

      Hi Kevin, we always strongly suggest people see these instruments for themselves before purchasing. Videos are used as guides only and everyone has their own opinion of what is best for them but we suggest seeing them in the flesh to hear the true audio from the products. The videos here for example do not compare the features but just some sounds to help people make a judgement but this is different from comparing the capabilities and sounds of the products as we all hear them through our own sound systems. It is quite possible if you were to compare the products in the flesh you would have a completely different opinion. good luck with your purchase whichever way you decide to go.

    Roland has a much more deep synthesis under the hood....up to 4 separate linear partials everyone with up two pcm waves (same as fantom and xv5080), every oscillator has 3eg and tvf resonant multiband filter, you have ring modulation and boosting and structures.....and on top of that fa has a real virtual analogue inside same as jp80 (no joke) same parameters and waveforms....so speaking in terms of programming fa can do so much it's a powerful synthesizer.
    Krome has the synthesis of m3 plus something new....and different waveforms you have more and bigger piano samples and rhodes but synthesizer waveforms are less than m3/m50 (lacks completly wavestation rom).
    So...depends of what you wanna get out of the instrument...i would choose roland for more synthetic attitude...

    Korg Krome wins in everything here. More realistic sound, clearer, and I did not like the attack on the Roland. Pretty surprising because usually Korg and Roland often trade hits with different sounds. They both sound great and I would have to hear them both playing back multiple sounds (like in a midi song) to really compare how they sound as a whole. I was just checking both out at Guitar Center not 40 minutes ago and they both are tempting.

    • @ricsim78
      @ricsim78 9 лет назад

      +Rick Simon Well, just got the Korg Krome and I must say, with the exception of certain sounds like the Pianos, the Roland FA-06 is a more organic and better sounding keyboard to me. Especially with General Midi songs and such! I am quite disappointed with the Krome, I got the 61 key version and the keys are terrible feeling...mushy and way worse than the Roland FA-06. I am even debating if I want to keep the Krome. I will have to give it more time (have used it for an hour or so) but General Midi files and first impressions mean a lot. The outputs on the Roland are much richer and it goes a lot louder than the Korg as well.

      The FA's attack can be adjusted by the turn of a knob. I've got one and it's a great keyboard. I also have an old Korg (X-5) that's really great too, especially for gigging. Not a ton of patches but everything you'd need for a gig. Comparing the FA to a Krome is not really a good idea. They're completely different.

    In some respects, this is comparing apples to oranges.
    Like cars or anything, some aspects are different and better, and on these two keyboards, some patch types are 'better' than others, but there are no benchmarks in reality, because even the real instruments these sounds are based on, are not only in different venues but are treated during recording.
    When all is said and done, there is no 'better', only what type of organ etc, YOU like the sound of.
    I have an 06, but the Korg does better electric guitars FOR ME.

    Wow the Roland piano is tinny sounding. The Korg sounds amazingly studio ready but the Roland obviously would need some serious EQ, compression and other mastering. On the other hand the Roland has some DJ type of quick creation features that the Korg doesn't. And as far as which I would have, the JX3P, Jupiter 6 or Juno 60. Because these both sound non-organic and very plastic box to me.

    I suspect the effects, EQs and compression are levelled differently so the Roland may have better basic sounds but it needs some tweaking to shine or possibly sound better than the Korg. Prefer the Roland workflow and keys though.
