@@nickbeqiri2289 There are Arpeggios in Korg PA1000 and the Sound engines in both are pretty comparable. I own over 20 keyboard and i can personally say it comes down to preference on what the type of sound it is that your looking for. I have been on the Yamaha side for a while, but now tend to go more with Korg because of quality and sound. In defense of both keyboards there are unique sound signatures you get with each brand. Personally i find the Korg one better because of feel and size (but also ease of customization of sound quality). Korg also offersTC-Helicon and Defined Nuance Controls which make the Korg experience very realistic and personal. Don't get me wrong neither one are perfect, and no keyboard ever is (hence my growing collection over the years lol). Overall it really comes down to preference and what sound your are looking for and what interface you are most familiar with (not a factor if you are new to both thought). If you are into nice sounding pianos then definitely korg, but Other instruments sound better on Yamaha - But in all honesty both are capable of some pretty amazing sounds with the right amount of tweaking.
The Yamaha sounds way more modern to my ears. Two drawbacks: 1. Way too much reverb is being applied by default to the samples. 2. Some of the samples have been around for decades literally, for instance the tenor and the soprano saxophone. Also it must be noted that on the Korg everything is fully tweakable. Not everyone is aware that there is a fully-fledged synth hiding behind every PA arranger which is certainly a great plus for Korg.
Thank you for this information... I was trying to decide between the Yamaha, and the Korg to purchase (although considering the PA4X 76)..I want Vocal features... and this Yamaha had them... but having been an old Yamaha owner PSR-600, I was impressed, but always had that "Too Modern" feeling left in me. I am a trained musician and like a sound more closely related to "analog".
Both boards are fantastic. I'd take either. I think the Yamaha has the better drums and bass to go along with its strengths in acoustic instruments. The styles seems so balanced and nicely mixed. The Korg is extremely strong in areas as well. Love the interface, the synth sounds, strings, etc. Both have massive capabilities, so with tweaking and editing/mixing you should be able to do some incredible things.
Great comparison although as arranger keyboards, you also need to think about ease of use and user interface - how easy is it to operate either at home recording or arranging or live when gigging...ease of use and ability to actually operate it is also important - for me the Yamaha seems to offer the best combination of sound quality, versatility and ease of use...
I agree with this about PA out put of Korg, and korg indian Percussion like tabla is very good, but in Yamaha western kits are real and groves of style in western kits are really good in Yamaha
Well, heck. I watched this video a month ago, and felt very strongly one way. Watched it again tonight, feel strongly the opposite way. I reckon there's not really a wrong choice here, they're just two really good keyboards!
Yamaha tiene mucha realeza y los últimos sonidos de batería están súper reales. Korg suena muy sintético en sus Styles, claro no en todos se nota pero el gusto se rompe en géneros!!!
I agree that the difference between them is really the skill of the person playing it but I personally thought the Yamaha had a slight edge over the Korg in some areas of playing and sound quality. So for me if I had to pick one I would go for the Yamaha.

I played the Yamaha in a music shop yesterday and i found the violin and cello voices to be extremely realistic! Also the various Church organs were very good. The Korg full cathedral organ is also good. I have the Korg, i find the keyboard touch to be difficult to play - it’s too spongy and you need to play on the edge of the keys, or they are hard to press. The Yamaha action is easier to control. I’m a pianist with a grand. Weighted it better of course but i want the keyboard for realistic sounds and sequencing
The SX won it for me for sheer usability and the ability to change any sounds to my preferance and save in a few easy steps. Keybed also felt the best on the SX which was a surprise.... Also managed to load the nice CFX Piano. Its a simple case of what works best for you....try them all out with good quality headphones... Next keyboard, in addition to the SX, will be either a CP88 or Roland RD2000 but leaning towards Roland
@Branko Jerbic I own a PSR SX 700. For the past few month I was desperately finding a way to load the CFX piano on my keyboard too. Would be great if you could share how you were able to do that. Thank you in advance.
SX900 has no CFX grand samples like on MODX or Genos which should be included in the SX900. They are always putting shitty dated crappy piano sample in their PSR keyboards. Genos has C7 so it wouldn't hurt to have CFX grand in the SX700, 900.
How is the CFX Piano voice working for you? How much memory did it take? How happy are you with it compared to the Grand Piano already in the SX? Did you put the CFX into the SX900 directly, a Memory Stick, or a computer? Current price at Sweetwater is $159. Worth it?

Hi Jason, both KB's are very fine stuff!! Yamaha sounds a Bit warmer and the Korg charisticle good in their own ways. I would take both of them! Nice vid and good sounds!!

Both great keyboards. For someone who wants to play "live" on stage, the Yamaha is easier in use. Korg is great but you need to put in more time to learn the keyboard and learn how to make it your own and how to adapt the voices and styles. Difficult to say which keyboard is better.
@@spiritualtechnology001not entirely right, you will need to spend more time on korg and it might not sound as good as Yamaha after that. But some voices may surpass Yamaha after tuning.
When it comes to acoustic sounds like Guitar or Brass/Trumpet, Yamaha is still state of the Art, but KORG managed to get some very modern, innovative Features even in their mid price range instruments, while Yamaha still sticks by it´s old roots. I still prefer rhodes and organs from KORG, they are not sterile and Hi-Fi trimmed as Yamaha did
This comment section nearly turned into fanboy wars.. While we can agree that it's all just a matter of taste, preferences and what you actually needed... In fact for example, I prefer the looks and overall sound of Yamaha because it sounds "cleaner & polished" but I have so many bad experiences playing live with Yamaha keyboards because it couldn't cut through the mix in a full band context. Unlike Korg which fits better into the mix when playing with a full band especially for live use. I know that arrangers meant to be played as a one-man band in the first place but I play with a band and I need the features & practicality of Arrangers _(built-in speakers, auto-accompaniment, etc..)_ because I often do silent practice in my bedroom or just bringing my keyboard to jam at the office or outdoor when I'm hanging out with my friends. So I kinda look for the best of both worlds which is an Arranger that also suited for playing live with a band, and Korg wins in a slightly higher position than Yamaha for me in almost all of those contexts. Also despite that, Yamaha looks great, so much cooler looking than Korg which looks somehow outdated. But that's it, I have to choose according to my needs.
The Yamaha uses more FX with its samples. I've been a Yamaha die hard for 25 yrs and they dont like you messing around with what THEY think you should sound like. You need a masters degree in particle science to edit the Korg and the forum rooms are empty of people who know how to edit. The manuals are written assuming you have that masters degree (which I have but not in Korg science) - but the hours drift away as I learn all the tweaks I can do to get the sound I want not what the manufacturer wants. Yamaha uses samples in the T5 I had in the Pro 9000 I had 18 years of cheating isn't on. Korg just seems to give you better samples, DSP, styles etc and trades up. In the end, it comes down to personal preference I think, just now I'm with Korg. With the Yamaha T5 you had these huge galactic big band intros which went into quite a bland style real night and day.
@@nickbeqiri2289 hi Nick, still a great keyboard even by today's standards. I sold mine to a chap who came all the way from Poland, we met at the train station he brought a padded keyboard bag with him. But , totally concur a lovely instrument to work with. Kind regards, Quentin.
Korg PA series actually a DAW builtin keyboard that you can do almost everything from composing to sound editing to live performance no need for expensive DAW pc system, a thing it lacks is video output with touch support on the bigger screen. The professional musical would love it Yamaha PSR series is for home hobby people that styles and sound are tunes to most pleasant and inspiring while playing and create your own with minimal learning time, a professional musician will need a Yamaha friendly DAW software like Cube, Sonar. The similarity to the Yamaha PSR series would be the Suzuki Audya keyboard, the Pegasus keyboard, the Roland arranger keyboard or more editing and tweaking Casio MZ-X500. I hope this helps you to choose the best keyboard that suite you!
The applicability and function of those buttons will be left to the preference of the player. No issue into which sound better. When it comes to live jamming and accompaniment, the mastery over the use the adjustments will come into play. 🎹🎼
Yamaha is bright and more realistic.... Although I would love to know how it's compressor function works.... Yamaha is always good with it's pianos but they somewhat sound very thin when connected to PA systems... Korg on the other hand sounds fantastic when connected to a PA System.... Delivers a good punch and feel...
Finally, that's what I've experienced too many times.. If I bring a Yamaha to a gig the chances of "tone failure" when connected to PA system were almost 50:50... It's really dissapointing
Thanks Justin! I asked for this about two weeks ago, and here it is. That's really appreciated. Okay, I'm not listening with the greatest speakers, or my better headphones, but here's my opinion. For the first time in a long time, Yamaha is as good as Korg. The Genos took the first step in that direction, but on a $5,300 USD keyboard, I expect it to be D***** good. Especially when the PA4X is over $1,000USD less expensive and sounds just as good. However, here in the States, the price between these two keyboards is just a couple of hundred dollars, and I could get one of each for the price of the PA4x, and half of another one for the price of the Genos, and that doesn't include the speaker systems for the PA4X or the Genos! I am very happy with the sounds of both keyboards. I've always believed that Yamaha over-processes their samples and it makes them 'fatter', but somewhat unrealistic. Korg doesn't, or at least not as much, giving IMHO a much truer sound. In this particular setup, I think I would tweak the EQ of the PA1000 up a bit and tweak the EQ of the PSR-SX900 down just a bit, at least in the mid and high ranges. Yamaha also seems to be more 'song-specific' with a lot of their styles, which is fantastic if you want to play that song, but if you aren't playing that song, it sounds kind of weird. You're associating the style with a certain song, and then not playing that song. I prefer a more generic accompaniment like the Korg offers. I think the only way, at least for me, out of this would be to buy one of each. The one thing that they are missing, and this applies to both of them. I wish that both of them were more like the PA4X and Genos and had nine sliders that can be used for drawbars. Either that, or I would love to see someone create an aftermarket drawbar controller with 9 each for upper and lower and two for the bass. MIDI controlled with different MIDI outputs for each set of drawbars and a third for the pedals, or the option to map the pedals to one of the either two outputs. IIRC, you were creating a setup using the PA-1000 and a M-Audioi Keystation 61 key controller, which is great, but I really would like to see a setup more like what you have shown here with a 25 note pedal board and a MIDI drawbar controller as outlined above. Lots of functionality is something like that, for sure.
Christopher Thomas There is nothing you can do with the korg pa4x to surpas the Genos trust me. I wouldn’t say it if it isn’t true. Only good thing about the korg pa4x was the keys weight balance and you could edit the styles. Other than that on sound quality the Genos is the deserving winner. I dont have the Korg anymore so I cant give it to you lol. Wait for Korg PA5X instead as it will be revolutionary technology.
Korg pa 1000 we talking real live performance sound and some features on korg pa 1000 which sx900 dont have.. but both.. keys are.. best for one man band..love both.. cheers guys
Some Styles of Korg Sound really good, other appear so cheap and like out of a 90s key... But many Do not Know, that you only have to tweak them! Change some Instruments, put in some Effects like reverb or amp Simulations... Dont Know why they are selling their pa series that unfinished?... Not even the pa4x appears to be finished, sometimes like a live Band but not often... Tell me which professionell Soundingenieur Would Master a Band like that?... I Would never buy Korg without knowledge in tweaking... Its not worth the money right out of the Box... That s why many yamaha likers believe in yamaha and love that keys for its finished studio Sound... And Korg is much more complicated, it took me long time to even unterstand the Style play Mode... I come from Roland and yamaha and it s very different and more easy to use...
I just listened to some asian fellow with a large number of followers (don't remember his name) dissing the Yamaha. And I replied and said "Fine arguments, but the sound is terrible" and your video confirms it. The only thing I preferred (marginally) on the Korg was the tonewheel organ. If I am going to spend two grand I may as well spend three grand and get something I will enjoy playing instead of saying "HEY LOOK EVERYBODY! I BOUGHT THE CHEAP ONE!"
I agree with your comment mate, I was this close in purchasing a Yamaha MODX 6, problem was it's big brother montage was next to it in display to play at my local guitar center, both connected to the studio monitor speakers they have there, I played both and I ended up taking the montage 6. It's in another level man, keybed action is amazing, sound and construction of keyboard is more professional than modx.
The sound of the PA1000 is softer and more velvety, while the Yamaha sounds sharper. For studio or recording work, I prefer the PA1000, but for performances, I think the Yamaha is more suitable because of its cost and the variety of tones and rhythms it offers.
Yamaha sounds too sterile. Some instruments do sound better, especially due to more spacious sound (more reverb I guess). Korg sounds warmer and generally more natural, unfiltered, some sounds could use a bit of reverb.
How does the Yamaha sound sterile? It sounds richer and a bit less clinical. The sounds do sound somewhat processed but remember you're also playing them on an arranger piano. The idea is that everything is done in the one unit. So it's nice to have performance ready sounds. It's easy enough to dial back a reverb. To me the Yamaha sounds slightly less cheesy. Altho most keyboards sound pretty fake when you're trying to re-create real instruments in a backing with them.
SX900 just sounds better in General because it's a newer processor/sound card and you can clearly hear it, also it has "Arpeggios" which Korg doesn't know what that is! Tha's all you need to know body.... ;)
@@nickbeqiri2289 I never use Arpeggios in live (few times for gaming), but aftertouch every time bcs I like trumpets and all winds. For me, aftertouch - must have at that price.

For features (a lot of DJ effects there!) and more realistic "DSP" effects, I prefer Korg (Korg has lots of effects (rather than Yamaha), such as modulated-delay, grain shifter, etc.. and also, lots of insert effects for style (PSR SX900, only 3)). For some instruments, sounds (like the new steel guitar from PSR SX) sounds great on PSR SX (the Korg sounds too cheap). Another thing I point up about Korg is aftertouch and the ability to assign some parameters (including effects) via MIDI CC, joysticks, velocity, aftertouch, assignable knobs, and more (PSR SX is only a few basic parameters that can be assigned via knobs and the bad is, no aftertouch). Not only that, it is more fully editable than PSR SX (such as LFO, Pitch, Filter, Amplitude envelopes, and many more). Overall, for sound enjoyment, I prefer Yamaha, but for "Workstation and DJ-ability" (I love EDM and editing sounds so much), I prefer Korg.
I think that in yamaha everything is easier to understand and start but if you spend a lot of time to understand and go deeper with the korg it is better as an instrument although I am Yamaha guy. Any thoughts on that? Thanks. Great video. Regards.
Yamaha is the Winner. Korg sounds a bit old but has a warm organsound. Yamaha has a brilliant open realistic sound. My ears would not accept anything else than Yamaha.
The nice thing is that for a matter of a couple of hundred dollars (in US Money) you do get very two similar sounding keyboards. To ME, the Yamaha sounds more 'tweaked', reverb, EQ, etc. This isn't unusual for a manufacturer to do, since it's done in the studios for the listening public. Most people who buy these keyboards aren't engineers and are looking for the final product, not the steps necessary to get there. Korg, on the other hand doesn't use as much processing as Yamaha does, and it gives it a 'thinner' sound. But, sit down side by side with a real instrument, and Korg shines for it's realism. Personally, I like both sounds, I realize Yamaha processes the heck out of their stuff, even the raw sample stuff, and Korg doesn't, but in this case, it's the end process and how you get there that counts. To me, either one works for MY playing and recording style.

The difference is the speakers. Korg has more watts in the speakers. The deeper sound in the Korg can be matched in the Yamaha by changing the key and or octave button. The voices and Styles in Yamaha has more selections. Korg beats Yamaha in price MSRP. My preference is that the makers of the keyboards need to design the keyboard for the player in keeping more styles, voices with more layering. No need for voice mic sounds and inputs for guitar. The red color is great on Korg. Varsity in color selection would be nice like, blue, red, wood etc....plastic is plastic and a minor thing to provide color. Tilt screen is great but glare and reflection is always an issue.
John, look up Corsair SP2500 speaker system, read the reviews. 232 watts RMS and with switchable DSP'S and EQ's with a 4th order sub woofer, the satellites are 4" but with a 1" dome tweeter they are absolutely awesome. I have two pairs in a music room / medium large bedroom and I have been able to tune into the room and the Korg. The girls at home sing so I have quite a lot going on. One pair will blast away anything Korg or Yamaha offers and I'm not just talking about volume. The sub speaks at v low volumes, only thing is you'll need stands and about 6' apart to appreciate stereo DSP'S and stereo pianos. I paid £50 for a second hand pair and bought the other pair new.

Right findings.
I love the Yamaha amazing sounds. I have the Korg and I have to use some reverb from my mixer when I play live.

Yamaha SX 900 voice super 👍
Both boards are fantastic. I'd take either. I think the Yamaha has the better drums and bass to go along with its strengths in acoustic instruments. The styles seems so balanced and nicely mixed. The Korg is extremely strong in areas as well. Love the interface, the synth sounds, strings, etc. Both have massive capabilities, so with tweaking and editing/mixing you should be able to do some incredible things.
Finally someone said it 💀🤣. Exactly korg has more advanced editing features tho. But Yamaha isn't lesser. Both are epic
Pa 1000
Yamaha has more realistic acoustic sounding voices. Just compare the violins and cellos
Totally agree, that's why I sold a Roland BK9 to buy this sx900
man, the Korg tones are excellent! but there's no way to beat Yamaha! simply incredible! especially at the level of pianos!!!! too beautiful!
It's best to have them both because those two are awesome. If you are a one man band show these two a must have.

Korg styles sound more realistic and punchy when connected to PA systems . but we would need to accept that Yamaha's grand Pianos are unbeatable !
I agree with this about PA out put of Korg, and korg indian Percussion like tabla is very good, but in Yamaha western kits are real and groves of style in western kits are really good in Yamaha
Yamaha we can add expansion packs as we wish according to requirements its good not in korg

Mein Favorit ist das Yamaha PSR SX 900
I agree that the difference between them is really the skill of the person playing it but I personally thought the Yamaha had a slight edge over the Korg in some areas of playing and sound quality. So for me if I had to pick one I would go for the Yamaha.

I love yamaha's piano, guitar and brass
I played the Yamaha in a music shop yesterday and i found the violin and cello voices to be extremely realistic! Also the various Church organs were very good. The Korg full cathedral organ is also good. I have the Korg, i find the keyboard touch to be difficult to play - it’s too spongy and you need to play on the edge of the keys, or they are hard to press. The Yamaha action is easier to control. I’m a pianist with a grand. Weighted it better of course but i want the keyboard for realistic sounds and sequencing
Korg has more bass sound, yamaha has more treble sound, both are amazings!!!
Nop....
Korg has highly processed sound for recording
Yamaha has natural realistic sounds
Especially piano guitar and brass
Worth it?

Im a fan of Korg and Yamaha keyboard. But with this model, Clearly the psr-sx900 sounds very nice and elegance with style and Voice. thumbs up for yamaha. 👍.
Both great keyboards. For someone who wants to play "live" on stage, the Yamaha is easier in use. Korg is great but you need to put in more time to learn the keyboard and learn how to make it your own and how to adapt the voices and styles. Difficult to say which keyboard is better.
I agree with this
So it is clear that Korg is way better..
I still prefer rhodes and organs from KORG, they are not sterile and Hi-Fi trimmed as Yamaha did
Yamaha is user friendly but korg keyboards are very realistic ,east or west yamaha is the best
great video! they both sound good. YAMAHA the brass and the pianos especially 🏆
From my research I conclude that yamaha has definitely the better sounds, but korg has many features and is more customizable.
He Bo I can concur with that 100%
The Yamaha uses more FX with its samples.
@@quentinmorgan3937 Maan talk about that PRO9000, I've had it and it rocked!

Yamaha all the way for me had the korg and sent it straight back
why? for what pupose were you using the keyboards ? Home amateur, pro Live concerts or weddings, studio album recording, composing at home?
Korg PA series actually a DAW builtin keyboard that you can do almost everything from composing to sound editing to live performance no need for expensive DAW pc system, a thing it lacks is video output with touch support on the bigger screen. The professional musical would love it
Yamaha PSR series is for home hobby people that styles and sound are tunes to most pleasant and inspiring while playing and create your own with minimal learning time, a professional musician will need a Yamaha friendly DAW software like Cube, Sonar.
Very well said, but in general, drums, percussion and acoustic sounds of Yamaha has always been superior to korg (in Arranger keyboard I mean)
The best Yamaha PSR SX900 👍👍
Yamaha Genos es mejor que psrsx900. Obvio que cuesta el doble que el psr 😅
You need PA speaker with +6db switch to hook to those Yammy PSR!
Agree..
How much is the PA4x price in America? I am from Iraq, and its price is $ 3300. Is it the same price that you have?
@@كرارزياد-و4و No, the PA4X comes in both a 61 key and 76 version. The 61 key version is about $3,700 an be the 76 key version is $4,200.

Altho most keyboards sound pretty fake when you're trying to re-create real instruments in a backing with them.
very competitive sound.. equally good. If I was given a choice, I would choose Yamaha because that's what I know the least about

The Yamaha best !
@@GaryMCurran I can see what you mean. I am an old man and don´t have the time to tweak all the sounds I need from scratch. Fpr me time is money and I thank Yamaha to take the time to tweak the sounds for me. I like to play not to tweak sounds. On Yamaha the sounds are ready to play.

Enjoyed your comparison - so which one would you choose- I need to decide soon? Thanks
