In my opinion the Korg sounds as good if not nicer in some of those sounds but also has the added bonus of having some amazing styles which are some of the best I’ve ever heard, especially after the latest Korg update that includes another 40 odd. The pads on the Pa5x are also phenomenal too.
You got that right.Korg PA5X, Is the best arranger.keyboard I ever owned in my life ,,,I have it and I play my Yamaha psrsx900 wich I Love as well ,,Korg PA5x is something amazing I Love it,,,
I had a Kronos, had many many synths, workstations, etc over the years, I’m loving the Korg pa5x 76 and a Roland rd2000 best of everything I need. The Kronos was good but I had noticed when playing piano, there’s certain thing you can play jazz wise that make the piano sound cut off, not always using loads of polyphony, as I’d have a four not chord in the left hand and play melody in the right, weird. Tried one in the shop did exactly the same. It wasn’t the end of the world. But neither of these do it, playing the same thing. And I never had it on the Oasys. Anyway happy now so all good.
There is no sound in which the Nord is better than the Korg. But the other way round, both, Korg Grand and Korg Organ are more natural, hence more convincing, to me.
I have korg pa5x, I love all it has including voice harmony, 2 sequencers, guitar and mic imput, ELD and lay out panel and colorings breath taking, recordings and natural sounds on all instruments of orchestra so natural, I had yamaha tyros before, but 5x sounds much more natural, practicly you need 5 different keaboards to compensate what 5x has, and that exte ded speaker is amazing sounds going out. So much to list....
1. Nord tones sound BASIC, while the Korg tones sound heavy, rich and warm. 2. It's the kind of situation wherein, if I was playing the Nord through a Graphic Equalizer, I would be prompted more to enhance lower, (Bass) sounds while trying to close down the treble a bit, while with the Korg I would do the opposite. How do I arrive at this? Upon seeing this video, ( As I always do with music instruments videos ) I paused the video and connected into my sound system on bigger speakers and Bass Woofer, to hear the real performance sound. I also urge other musicians to try and do that before judging the sounds hearing them only from their phone or tablets speakers, and end up purchasing an instrument, only to experience some different sound altogether.
I've also had a Pa5x for a month and I have to say that I'm disappointed with the pianos. They have too much noise and don't sound clean. No comparison with Nord. Can anyone confirm this?
To me the Korg Pa5x sounds nicer, especially with the pianos. And considering the fact that most of the Pa5x sounds are derived from the Kronos, SV-2 and Nautilus, particularly the pianos and EP's, those I believe are modelled instruments and not sampled.
yeah i get what you mean. Though I doubt that they would resample from their soft modelling/synths rather than taking the already finished rom pianos/rhodes from sv and some pcm synth samples off the kronos HD-1. Cant say for sure but thats what i would assume :).@@jordanking7711
@@Qagan What does "modelling" really mean? The only real modelled piano was the roland mks-20 ! Everything else is multi layer sampling with renamed parameters to fit the piano functions . The use of the pa5x DNC engine is also considered modelling as you can have efx and other things that resemble a sound as a different part of it.. Along with the 24 stereo oscillators we are talking about a beast of an engine compared to other engines!
@@mck-gr the way I see modeling is that the sound source isn’t produced by a fixed sample but rather synthesized in a way i.e. physical modeling where every note is different among the whole velocity spectrum and tone can be varied with a certain set of parameters real time. the timbre isn’t baked in and remains flexible to certain set of changes other than cutoff or fx. If there were 127 velocity layers I’d be somewhat agreeing in seeing it “modeling-like” behavior considering the midi bottleneck. You certainly can argue the necessity of it or if it’s even audible, especially for the targeted audience of the pa5, but still in terms of expressivity and timbre I’d say that the modeling synths do make a difference and are superior to their sampled counterpart in certain cases. Not to downplay the pa’s EDS engine potential, 24 layers with round robin capability is amazing.
Personally, I think the Korg stomps the poor Nord into the mud. In all the samples, the Nord sounds thinner and like there was a lot of high band EQ applied to it. I think the Korg has a richer, fuller sound. In addition to that, I also think the Korg has the best Leslie simulation by far of any Non-Hammond keyboard or organ on the market.
the nord sounds different not better. in acoustic piano korg is better on the bass but nord is better in the middle , on rhodes korg is better also on organ
I thought that Nord would destroy Korg out of blue water. But something unbelievable happened. Korg really sounds good.
Excellent comparison.Korg PA5X is wonderful.And also:absolutely neutral styles,famous sampler,my favourite hardware sequencer,complete sounds edit operation with oscillators,new harmonizer.He is the king.
PA5X vs Kronos 2 ? Est-ce que le PA5X reprend tout les banque de son du Kronos en mieux ?

Als Arranger vs StagePiano Respekt für der Korg...Der Nord nr.1 auf die Bühne !
As a Nord user i must say, the Korg sounds very good in every category. Which Rhodes sample did you play on the Nord, the new Stockholm EP?
Korg also comes in 88 keys You can do so much more on a Korg workstation.

Definitely too my surprise Korg wins hands down!
Korg bravo!!!

Les 2 ont une sonorité différente mais tout deux incroyables !
After reading these comments, I think it all comes down to personal preference.
1. Nord tones sound BASIC, while the Korg tones sound heavy, rich and warm.

Cheeky bit of Focus there. Nice.

great video. may I please ask what is a good studio monitor to hook up for sound output ?

afaik the pa engine is completely based on a sample engine. the modelled stuff is only to be found in korgs TOL workstations as kronos or nautilus.
@@Qagan But some or most of the sounds of the Pa5x are based around the Kronos and Nautilus which technically ARE modelled sounds.
