Coming from the Stage 2 this takes away so many challenges ive had... 2 synths per patch isnt enough... i've been juggling them for years

      My gut feeling tells me that Nord will bring back the song mode in a near future OS update. It’s just a matter of dedicating one of the knobs already on the board to song mode by shift-click that button. Remember, on the Stage 3 they made a 2nd revision, where they added some text to the piano filter buttons, and I think the exact same will happen to Nord Stage 4. To remove Song mode from the board was a design-flaw in my opinion….

    Does anyone know if section volume becomes a problem with the new fader setup? In Motif, I always struggled when my fader was at the max, the sound I switch to had that fader value at maybe 1/10, and me trying to bring down that fader resulted in the volume spike of that part/section from 1 to 10 and then down. I hope I make sense since these faders aren't motorized. In this sense, the old knob setup is perfect since it doesn't have the physical beginning and the end position.

    Hi I am gonna buy the nord stage 4 compact. I know it cannot be like a full weigthed keys but Do you think I can get a good compromise playing the acoustic pianos even with the semi weighted keys? I know its fantastic with the organs and the Synth but I would like having your thought about how it works with the acoustic pianos

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Год назад +1

      Hi, William! Thanks for your interest. Although the semi-weighted waterfall keys on the Stage 4 Compact are designed to replicate the feel of an electric organ like a Hammond, they will work well for the piano sounds, as well - as long as you have the proper expectation that they won’t have the same heft as fully weighted hammer-action keys.
      I hope this helps a bit - feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks again!

    I'll preface my comments by saying I bleed Nord red! I've had the Electro 1 through 4. Five years ago went to the Stage 3. Now, I guess I'll be ordering a Stage 4. My biggest complaint is the inability to back up to a flash drive. Having to schlep a laptop to a gig if your keyboard needs to be restored is just silly and counter productive here in the year 2023. How did something this simple get past the engineers? The other thing I'd like to see is for Nord to offer a 61 or 73 key waterfall controller. The best of both worlds would be an 88 note weighted S4 with a waterfall keyboard to play the organ engine. Right now I use a Stage 3 Compact because the waterfall keys are important to me. However, I still use a Kurzweil PC4 for a weighted keyboard.

      It’s ludicrous that Nord refuse to make a librarian for iOS, like uh… every other manufacturer. I would have to take a laptop with me to festivals in order to load my set and patches onto the backline hired synth… It would be so easy with an iOS librarian, but… nope.

      Hi, thanks for your interest! The sound engine is exactly the same between the Stage 4 Compact and the full-size Stage 4. The only differences are the number of keys and the weighting (organ-like “waterfall” semi-weighted keys on the Compact, fully weighted piano-like hammer action on the HA73 and full Stage 4).

    Hello there, I would like to clarify some questions I have regarding Nord Stage 4, it’s a 5k investment I want to be sure it works for me
    - Can you record audio and midi into a daw via usb ?
    - Can you connect an audio external source (another synth, guitar, microphone, etc.) to use the Nord’s effects ?
    - Is the 1GB sample memory enough to hold the whole Nord Sample Library 4.0 ?
    - Does the 73 gig bag work for the NS4 compact ?
    - Would it be wise in your opinion to get the Nord Stage 4 compact instead Nord Electro 6D & Nord Wave 2 “combo” if space / transportation is not a problem?
    Thanks in advance

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Год назад

      Hi, thanks for your interest! Happy to help with this. I’ll address your questions in order here:
      • The USB connection handles MIDI data, but not audio.
      • There’s no input to connect an external instrument for use with the Nord effects.
      • Nord doesn’t list a total file size for the Sample Library 4.0, but at a glance at the individual file sizes, it looks like it should be under 1GB total. You can also choose which sounds to store on the instrument. You can see all the sounds listed here: www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libraries/nord-sample-library-40
      • Yes, the 73-key gig bag will fit the Stage 4 Compact.
      • Getting an Electro and a Wave instead of a Stage will give you a more advanced synth interface on the Wave compared to the Stage, as well as more keys to work with. On the other hand, getting the Stage will consolidate everything into a single instrument, which can be more convenient. One solution isn’t necessarily better than the other - it depends on what’s important to you.
      Ultimately, if you are looking for a keyboard that will allow you to record audio over USB and serve as an effects processor for external instruments, you might want to look at other options. Roland Fantom comes to mind, but again, it depends on what’s important to you.
      Feel free to contact me directly via phone or email and I’d be glad to help narrow down the selection. Thanks again!

      I clearly understand your opinion in today’s tech world, but there’s absolutely nothing like keeping things as simple as possible, and utilizing the instrument to its highest and best use. I’ve owned Moog synthesizers, Oberheims, Rolands, Yamahas, and many others. Yet….playing these instruments individually, rather than using VST’s through a controller and computer just takes the organic feel I experienced in the 80’s, right up to now out of the element. Believe me, Shawn Martin utilized Keyscapes VST to show its incredible versatility, and how the use of a great controller like the Native Instruments 88 can indeed be quite the luxury. I will embrace both with an open mind, and yet still enjoy sitting down to those keys on my Nord, while flipping two switches to partake in some of the most creamy sounds ever. Best regards.😎
