I use a little wet masa as glue on the tortilla on the edge at the end of the roll. It helps seal the flauta and it holds together really well when you put them in the fryer. It also helps keep the filling inside as well. My family is from El Paso. They use the word flauta too. Here in Cali we have tagquitos y dorados, I don't hear flauta very often.

We call these taquitos!!! My favorite!!! Love making this for my girls! After I’ve shredded my chicken, I heat the tortillas up on the coma so the tortillas don’t break just a quick heat and ***WHEN I ROLL THEM UP AFTER STUFFING TO SEAL THE TAQUITOS I DAP FLOUR TO SEAL THE TAQUITO**** it’s a mixture of flour and water, just like a paste. It’s the best thing ever when Frying!!! Makes it soo much easier!

I like to add onion to my chicken too; however, I also add a little oil and flour so it binds together when I put it in the flauta. I also add just a little tiny bit of vinegar to the chicken mixture for added flavor. Also, I sometimes brush the inside 0:05 end of the corn tortilla with a little bit of cold water and corn starch to keep the flauta from opening when I am frying it. Thank you for y’all’s awesome videos! 😊❤

The oven makes them crispy too if you don't have time to fry. The oil from dipping the tortillas helps make it work.
I also find that separating the tortillas after the oil dip helps them cool faster so you dont burn your fingers 😁

I do an easy one, 1 small clove (to start) of garlic ground in salt, add 2 avocado to molcajete and add however much salsa (what ever kind you like) couple of table spoons. I leave it pretty chunky. It’s totally adjustable. And easy. And yummy 😋 just remember that the grinding of garlic in salt really intensifies the garlic taste, so start with a small one and adjust once you’ve experienced the effect it has.

At my home we call them taquitos because they're taco like. This process is too long for me. I use to do it like this but then I couldn't cook them fast enough. I would either freeze them prior to frying them so they stayed closed but I would put a toothpick through them so i could just throw a bunch in at a time. I serve them with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, queso fresco and shredded lettuce all piled on top! So yummy! Thanks for your take on these!

I totally love this recipe. My family eats taquitos all the time, I don't know why i never thought of adding onions to them before but i will from now on. I do have a small suggestion on how to keep them rolled up while you're trying them though if that's okay. At my house I use wood toothpicks. I poke it through the middle and I can fit 2 usually on the toothpick so they don't try to roll open and then you can cook more at one time. Hope that helps anyone who is nervous about frying.

I grew up in San Diego we call them Rolled Tacos. I make them I heat the tortilla to make it pliable. I do shredded beef...I also make a little paste of flour and water to use as glue to keep the tortilla closed. It works wonderfully. I top with shredded lettuce, guacamole, shredded cheese, and cotija cheese and red or green salsa.

Tekknowgerl here....showin support and hungry again! Made tacos last night and wondered if folks still made "rolled tacos", it was my favorite in the 80's-90's....we used to hit the spots after the club when things were much safer and fear was non-existent (cause my age and basically folks were not as devious towards others) - miss that time, but loved those tacos....thanks for posting this! Be safe and take care! Shout out to sis behind the camera too😁

At home we called them flautas. Favorite is tuna, onion and cilantro. Thanks for the idea of having them stand to help drain the oil. 💛

It looks so good. I've never seen that technique of putting the tortillas in hot oil before you start rolling them.

So, does warming them on the stove and then flash frying them make them crisper or could I just put them in the oil and leave out the first part?
