You are so welcome! People from Germany have sent me envelopes with beautiful postage stamps, by the way. :) I think you've got a lot of great choices over there!
I really love the look of old postage stamps (collected stamps as a kid, so...) but that surcharge for using envelopes in a non-standard orientation is a killer! Thank you for sharing more of your beautiful envelopes!
Thank you so much for breaking this down. At 28 years old I bought vintage stamps and was so confused when they weren’t weren’t sticky. It’s lost information.
I VERY vaguely remember when they weren't sticky, but that makes sense because I'm seven years older than you are. I think they started selling them like they are today when I was around ... 10?? Definitely don't feel bad!
Love this tutorial! Le sigh! The mail lady knows me at my location and I am thinking about driving further out to a different one! She mentioned that calligraphy on envelopes makes it difficult for scanning and reading.
You know, there's no reason you couldn't play within those guidelines. Write the name in pretty calligraphy, then write the address in a clear, serif style (like this: thepostmansknock.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/watson_envelope.jpg)! Or, just hand-letter the whole thing, like this: thepostmansknock.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/1March_2023_Envelopes-1.jpg!
I use vintage stamps to mail letters to my grandkids in Sweden. They have a homework assignment to write back telling me about the historical person or event on the stamps.
I LOVE this. Been following you for years and employing these gorgeous elements! I’m wondering if you’ve ever tried the “design your own” postage stamps?
I did, once! I think it was through stamps.com in 2014. It was for a wedding; the bride and groom wanted stamps that featured The Fox Theater (in Atlanta) as postage. They turned out cool, but honestly, I think that vintage stamps are cooler. Still: definitely worth a try!
@@LindseyBugbeeTPK I agree that vintage are cool(est?!)! I HAVE been tempted to do one of my childhood home, which was an old “mansion,” but I’m happy playing with vintage!
Interesting video! I didn't know that you could use cancelled stamps for "envelope art". I have quite a few vintage stamps that don't have a value on them. They were first class (I think) stamps from the era before "Forever" stamps, maybe the 70's, 80's, 90's. I've had trouble finding their value. You'd think the USPS would have an archive with all the stamps from every year. That would be cool, but I don't think it exists. Do you know of a source for that kind of info? So far, I've just googled a description of the stamp and sometimes I can find it, but not as easily as you'd think. Thanks if you see this!
I do the same as you! I try to be as descriptive as possible with Google ("Stamp with two blue birds date 1940", etc. etc.). If Google doesn't know, you could always try chatting with Chat GPT to see if it does any better. I feel like Google hasn't been as great at pointing you where you need to go lately, unfortunately.
Thanks Lindsey, I had no idea you had to add a surcharge to letters w/ diff orientation.
You learn something new every day, right? :)
Love your art❤ , especially pretty envelopes! Thank you for sharing! Claudia from germany

@@LindseyBugbeeTPK yes, we have nice stamps. I always try to combine several ones. But we don't have such beauriful vintagestamps like you. Love them!
I love stamps and I really love the way you use them in your art! Thanks for sharing!
It's my pleasure!! Thank you so much for watching. ❤️
A lot of good, useful information here that I'll use. Thank you! ❤
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video -- thank *you*!
Love your style and skills, and thank you for sharing this. Would love to see more mail and envelope art! -Your subscriber from Hawaii! 🌺🌞🌊🏖️
I'm all about mail art and would love to make some snail mail-focused videos!
@@LindseyBugbeeTPK mahalo!!!! ❤️

It is quite hefty; I agree!!
LOVE IT!
Thank you so much!
Love the value that stamps add to the composition, too bad here in Brazil you can rarely find any diversity on stamps.
That is such a bummer! But at least Brazil has other amazing things that you can't really get here, like Queijo Minas. :D
@@LindseyBugbeeTPK Yees, I`m from Minas Gerais haha so I can easily get those here. 😂😂

What a cool way to incorporate postage stamps into their education!
Love what you do there. Have an awesome day!💥From Fun At Home (Hot Wheels, Lego, Cards, Stamps & collectables)👍
