M54 in general are a brilliant engine and extremely under rated, everyone jokes about BMW always breaking down but the m54b25 and b30 are among some of the most reliable and capable engines out there, and have a beautiful sound and handle a turbo like it was meant to be, as long as you don't overdo the boost or make sure to do some supporting upgrades. In fact the only real downside to them is the sheer size for swapping into other shells or adding turbo can be extremely tight, especially for us right hand drivers the steering and chassis leg get in the way of adding the exhaust but once the work is done, there's nothing quite like it and you never regret it. They are relatively easy to tune on the stock ECU as well. The M54 and the old Volvo t5 2.3 5 cylinder with a td04 (can't remember the engine code off the top of my head) are my favourite engines of all time for similar reasons. Thanks ! One more question. On your stock m54b30 did you ever have heavy smoking from the crankcase ? I’m on my second engine now. First one blew a piston and then started smoking heavy on the catch can. This second one just finished with fresh piston rings / rod bearings took it on a decent drive hit boost cut or clutch is slipping on high rpms anyway it’s smoking heavy again on the catch can and exhaust tool
What kind of oil did you run?
What axles are you running I can’t find any for my 01 330i
I have oem 330xi axles now
How much can the bottom end handle
How many miles were on the engine?
~120k
Awesome content! Keep ‘em going! What tune and kind of turbo and size are you running?

How much hp with 20psi?
Upgrade your tail lights to working ones
What
a question how much miles run it with 20psi
Well probably 20k but it had a head gasket replaced in there
Oh okay im Build a m54b25 in germany and no one build it Here i was the First One Then with german TÜV
do you have a good tuner you can recommend??? m54b30??
BeRacingTuning. Message him on Facebook!
Hi did you use stock m54 pistons and rods ?
This engine was completely stock un touched.
So yes
What tune were you running with this engine at 20 psi?
Be Racing tuning. Message them on Facebook
👍
👍🏻
...I bet you have the axles fixed already. I just wanted to mention my M3Touring Wagon snaps axles like potato chips. I went to FCP Euro for their axles with the understanding "only" BMW axles were good. Not true FCP Euro axles are less than manufacturer and have held well with the AWD system. Most guys running 400+ hp use the following axles......ehem. Come on guys tell him the good ones he needs them! #RDM3Touring
My axles have been a pain. I use oem 330xi auto axles currently. But they probably arnt going to make it.
Stock headbolts or did you use headstuds?
Yes. Stock headbolts.
@@hellrotgarage thanks for your reply, probably also the reason your coolant pressure went upwards. Headlift?
How many miles did you have the car run on that setup?
Put about 15-20k on that engine probably
@@hellrotgarage Thanks. Seems that it held up well
Don't hate me but is this doable on an auto?
No. They wont live at all
Have some peaple going 600whp on stock, and the Record is 800whp on stock internals
Yeah I was definitely making 600 on it. But yeah price could do 800 on studs and a headgasket
@@hellrotgarage nice car Men, im going to buy one here in Brazil, the 330i sedan is Very cheap here compared to e36 kkkk the e36 328i here is like 20k dólar kkkkk
Yeah if you blow a rod ,,, that’s pretty much game over ,,,, you should forge everything thing first ,,,, but you can do it with just a thicker gasket for lowering compression but eventually everything is gonna blow up up I’m just trying to figure out which will go dirt tranny or engine lol 😂
is that the stock ms54 dme your using?
Stock ms43 ecu tuned by BeRacingTuning
what are the rims on the bmw e46?
M parallels
How much horsepower?
Yeah!
Was bearings new?
Nothing was new
@@hellrotgarage how much km had the engine?
I'll be running an M56 valve cover on my M54B30 with M50 manifold and going boost
Do it!
Who tuned the car?
Be Racing Tuning! Let him know I sent you.
Subd, because m54
Thanks!
does this mean the n54 has a predecessor that can also take boost?
Look up some M50b25 builds…..
What are you putting in the built engine
Look at my first video on my channel, it already had a forged out iron block in it. Im thinking of building a m54 for a different car though
@@hellrotgarage yea what are you think of putting in the m54 are they worth building or better off to go iron block
@@vLpooh M52 iron block is way better. Aluminum m54s are scary because they like to pull the threads out of the block. And going to bigger studs on a m54 is also not a solution because it can crack the block
@@hellrotgarage iron on a m54 how?
@@wannabezhp no hes getting an m52 iron block
14psi the most for me
I'm an easy guy. Ihear bmw i subscribe
Thanks!
