THE LOOOK IN LUKES EYES BROKE ME EMOTIONALLY
Oh yeah. He is a great actor
really good acting!
@@Unclaimeddemigodok no lol the ending was really good! Like the reveal for Luke, Leah’s acting got better and it was really cute with the Disney world thing. I liked a lot. In the past in this series reaction i have been seeing issues with the show. However, episode 7 and 8 pulled me back in! I still want it to get more darker later like it was in the books. Like as they get older like they did with the Harry Potter movies. Because Luke’s backstory with his mom, and then Leo’s Valdez, and hazel past, and nicos it gets more and more mature as go forward in the lighting thief. This is all i ask 😊
@@Ts-lz1gj It will definitely get more mature as the cast grow older. If this gets successful and we get 5 seasons of Percy, it will really be possible we will get the sequel series Heroes of Olympus.
@@hikari9262 yea but also concerned of them messing up Nico di angelo character because of his sexuality in the book. Disney isn’t exactly promoting LGBTQ storylines
This was probably my favorite episode of the season. After being a little underwhelmed by the last two episodes, I was relieved at how good this one was.
Yeah, a lot of this show was underwhelming. It was nice to see them end on a higher note
Mine too!!!
My thoughts exactly!
I think Lance Reddick did a great job portraying a menacing Zeus, it’s unfortunate that we won’t be seeing what he can do with the character in later seasons as he has unfortunately passed away
He will be missed
Percy: Do u dream of Mom
//Posiedon the God of Seas literally holding an ocean of tears behind that smile//😭
so GOOD 😭
When he woke up from the dream and sally was there I was like: “Imagine they just said all of it was just a dream💀” That would be the plot twist of the century
That would have been such a twist
and a great excuse for not having a season 2 🤣
my brother never read the books and at first he thought the same thing lol
Also backbiter being explained as a magic sword makes sense here because in the books Luke just cuts the air and makes a portal with no explanation, also the scorpion wasn’t giant, it was a normal sized scorpion just with extremely powerful venom
I forgot that the portal thing actually happened wow
@@Unclaimeddemigod to be fair to you I have just read the books again so it’s fresh for me
In real life, the smaller a scorpion is,the more deadly it's venom tends to be.
Oh btw Luke does mention Backbiter's name. It's when he says that it can open doors and all that
must have missed it in all my excitement!
Technically speaking, Zeus is Posidon's little brother, but agree...and i think Annabeth fell first in the books, not sure in the series yet.
Who knows honestly because Percy tends to be terribly oblivious when people fall in love with him. Annabeth, Rachel and Nico are great examples of that.
I think we'll know for sure in season two when it's basically just the two of them TOGETHER
Btw zues is the youngest of the orignal children of kronos. I think it makes it more impactful. Surrendering to someone younger than you outside ofc Zues's status as King god
I think the fact that he grew up outside his father's body should technically make him the eldest, but I totally forgot that he came out last you're right 😂
Cause I am a big mythological creature kind of nerd, I am a bit disappointed by not seeing the hell’s scorpio but I understand why. But that still a wonderfull episode
I love compromise
The fact that the dagger Annabeth throws at Luke was a gift from Luke... and then the look in his eyes ahhh
poetic cinema
im not a percy jackson fan or anything, and i barely remember the movies (other than they kinda sucked)... and i LOVED this tv series! it was a really fun adventure with just enough dark moments and lots of agency for the young main cast. heck they even had some serious moral dilemmas to consider, which is excellent!
i did have a few personal gripes with the choppy editing and how some scenes transitioned kinda suddenly... but that's really because i was so engrossed and really wanted more from each episode. if the series had the money, they could really linger with each location and spice it up with more magical interactions, make the world truly come alive.
perhaps they'll do more with the supporting cast in future seasons when they no longer have to plan stuff around a writer's strike (i believe this show couldn't do reshoots or anything like that). can't wait for season 2!!
It's so interesting to hear the opinions of non book readers! I'm so glad you liked it!
I took Kronos statement at the end as a reference to the great prophecy.
Probably. Or his plan with the Golden Fleece.
It definitely is.
also probably true, the dude is an evil mastermind
@@WarGrowlmon18 that's my theory as well
8:12 In the book, Helm was actually forged out of Celestial Bronze.
“The tide rolled out to reveal Hades’s bronze helm of darkness. I picked it up and walked to my friends.”
huh, I still think a black helm would've looked cool though
Honestly I enjoyed this episode (for the most part)
I'm disappointed Ares didn't curse Riptide like in the book (this is very important for later on in the series)
Also in the show Luke does call his sword Backbiter at the end, but doesn't say what it's made of, and in the book, Backbiter can make portals like it does in the show
"I'm disappointed Ares didn't curse Riptide like in the book" I was also waiting for this to happen in that scene! I guess they'll just have to change that one scene from book 3 (if they ever get to it)
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS EPISODE WHAT A WAY TO END IT
the perfect finale 😌
In the book Ares was stopped by an invisible force later revealed to be Kronos.
Yeah I enjoyed this episode too, though I’ve got some more criticisms than you do. I thought the Ares fight got was too short, I thought Percy beat him a bit too easily, and I didn’t like that Percy figured out Luke was the thief. But on the positive side I like that Percy challenged him to single combat (whereas the book didn’t have that condition), I like how intimidating and in control Zeus was, I like the added scenes with Luke, and I like that it was mentioning his dad that set Luke off.
"In the book Ares was stopped by an invisible force later revealed to be Kronos."
completely forgot about that but it makes a lot more sense than him just leaving
This is more relevant to Sea of Monsters but remember that Chiron asked Annabeth to promise on river Styx? That promise didn’t exactly have a time limit like ‘protect Percy until I come back’ or ‘until the prophecy’ so it strikes me as odd that there were never consequences for that broken promise (like him losing 6 months of his life and memories, I know that it wasn’t her fault but technically she couldn’t protect him from that) unless of course…falling into Tartarus was the result. So many awful things have happened to her possibly as a result but it seems everyone seems to have forgotten all about it.
swearing on the river Styx never ends well
He has beach travel power like nico has shadow travel powers, except he doesnt need a beach on the other side😂
that sounds like the most amazing power ever, I wish it were canon 🤣
Poseidon is the big brother. Zeus was the youngest of the children of Kronos.
Yeah, but given that being vomited by kronos is considered a kind of 2nd birth, zeus is considered th eldest since he's th only 1 not to be swallowed, poseidon th middle brother n hades th youngest, given that they were regurgitated in reverse order to swallowing
You should do a ranking of the episodes. Also I’m so sad it ended and we have to wait another 1-2 years😢
I really want to rank them (so I will... EVENTUALLY) but if we get another season then I think it'll be faster than last time
14:06 I think they went to Crusty's by Hermes's car and the went to New York by taxi. He had money because Ares gave him some with the backpack.
I just wish we could've seen at least .3 seconds of that
I saw this post from a person whose brother worked in disneys press, and they said that we should ‘keep our ears open for the next few days’
The fact that the only way annabeth, daughter of athena, could think of warning percy about clarisse was by hugging him 😂 also the way that i sang “NOW FACE THE TIDE INSIDE OF MEEEEEE” when ares was soaked. also, what is annabeths regret?
"The fact that the only way annabeth, daughter of athena, could think of warning percy about clarisse was by hugging him " the girl was multitasking cause she really wanted to hug him
Loved the video. I hope we get a announcement of season 2 soon.
I have a feeling we will (at least I'm manifesting it!)
I think Annabeth knew for sure the moment Percy turned into gold on Heras throne but kinda knew on the St. Louis Arch. We could see it in her eyes. Percy first thought about it when Annabeth hugged him but knew for sure in the Taxi. So they fell roughly at the same time.
When Kronos told Percy he counts on his survival, I took it as Kronos counting on Percy to survive until his 16th birthday to fulfill the prophecy. If I remember correctly, until the ending of book 2, Thalia really isn´t on his mind for the prophecy since she is a tree.
I’ve enjoyed this series immensely. It’s the nature of adaptations to differ and I chose very deliberately to embrace that. FYI, Rick has mentioned in a number of interviews that Writer’s Rooms come to him. To me that clearly implies that he isn’t in the Writer’s Room. Every series is finding its feet in their first season. I’m so grateful we’ve gotten such a positive adaptation and am just hoping we get a second season.
That's why I'm so excited for future seasons, it can only get better from here!
This one was definitely my favorite! Always love your reviews ❤ Hopefully we get a second season😊
we better get a second season! I can't survive off percabeth s1 edit videos forever
We see more of Grover's quest for Pan in The Sea of Monsters and The Battle of the Labyrinth with Grover finally finding Pan with the help of Percy, Annabeth, Tyson, Rachel Elizabeth Dare and Nico di Angelo in the latter book. Grover's search is on hold during The Titan's Curse because he was sent to find more demigods instead, but Pan sends Grover a giant boar to help him and speaks directly to Grover.
yup
I think Luke does use Backbiter to like teleport away in the book.
my mind blanked out when I read that part I guess
Loved your breakdown! Also I've seen like no one mention this, but we got a 3rd Seaweed brain this episode 😭
I saw that on tumblr! I don't know how I missed it, I was to invested in everything else going on in the scene 🤣
@@Unclaimeddemigod Aw, haha fair 😂
I love this show so much, and I'm waiting for the documentary and season 2 to drop ASAP!! I love your breakdowns as always and your videos so much!! They are my roman empire!!
The documentary is already on Disney+!
I can't wait to watch the documentary, absolutely love bts
Spoiler alert for Sea of Monsters aka season 2 and The Titans Curse aka season 3
Am I the only one who thinks we might get original scenes of Grover with Polyphemus is season 2 and Annabeth in mount Othrys in season 3. If we don’t then Aryan and Leah will barley be in those respective seasons.
I think that's a very real possibility, since the show feels more of an ensemble than the books
I think overall the Percy Jackson Disney + Series was a hit and I just loved every part of it. They added so much detail to the series that the Percy Jackson fans have been dying to see. I knew the series was gonna be great from the start when they came in with the first lines of the book! Also love, love, loved the seaweed brain and wise girl nicknames! They added so much character to the series!
i can't wait for the live, because from what fran has told during her stream, you have some different opinions!
any time works for me, as long as it's not 3 am (i might miss the episodes, but i certainly won't miss the hour they were being dropped)
being a fan outside of the US is hard man
Lance Reddick was a very good actor he is well known and appeared in a lot of known film and shows. Please don’t down play Lance
Th peak of olympus seems to be more in ruins than th rest of th kingdom n not a modern hall as it's in th books.. but again, in th books it's said that th dominion of a god changes to reflect th appearance of its ruler, n given that at that moment zeus was in th middle of th war against poseidon, 1 of only 2 other greek gods who can rival him, he most likely wasn't exactly at his best.. soo, it's fine i guess
I actually really liked that detail! But don't worry, I'm sure we'll see Olympus in all of it's *glory* when s3 comes around!
Always looking forward to your videos insightful as always hope season 2 doesn’t keep us waiting too long
We better get the announcement next week!
There was a moment where I thought you refered to Zeus as Susan and I got super confused
hahahahahaha I'm only referring to Zeus as Susan from now on
SO excited for this video to come out❤❤🎉🎉
Did you use picrew for that profile pic?
thanks so much for watching!
I think in the books Percy fell first but in the show it was Annabeth.
In The Mark of Athena Annabeth says she had a crush on Percy since she was 12. I think the first indication we get of Percy having a crush on Annabeth is in The Titans Curse. So in the books Annabeth fell first and in the show it feels like Percy is falling first.
They both fell (into tartarus)
@@JaneD0e_LuckyNxmbr7 Omg stop you're so foul for that!
I WAS SO READY FOR THIS VIDEO. I’m sick at home rn so I’m one of the first people to watch it! I love u sm Celia (in a platonic way) 💙💙 thank you for making videos!! I'm so honored! And I hope you get well soon 💙
@@Unclaimeddemigod thank you💙💙
Awesome video 🩵💙💯‼️
thanks 💙
Question for Friday’s video: If you were in charge of the background songs, what songs would you use for what scenes?
the only think that comes to mind is no Olivia Rodrigo (and I'm her biggest fan 🤣)
I would love to see 2000-2010 music though (some green day/simple plan would be hilarious)
I personally loved the series as I binged it as It is a Disney + show and ALL of the big ones are shot like Long Movies so I watched it like a long movie. I highly reccomend binging it its a better experience. Its not a perfect 1:1 Adaptation but its a great adaptation that keeps the souls and tone of the books.
I cannot wait to binge this in one afternoon, it's what it deserves!
I assumed he just got on a bus without paying 😂
the boy deserved it, so fair enough
In case you didnt shoot your video with the other RUclipsr yet, i have some questions: Why does it rain when Sally thinks of Poseidon in ep 1 or in ep 7 when Poseidon shows up? Poseidon is the God of ocean and Zeus the god of the sky, so wouldn’t that make Zeus control the weather and in this case the rain? I was a bit confused. Also the end credit scene with Gabe getting petrified (which i think he didn’t deserve, especially since Sally would have gotten rid of him anyway) i was wondering why the package with medusas head inside also gets petrified? And what do you think of Grover in the show? I think they kind of ruined him and made him worthless :/ There weren’t enough scenes with all of them as a trio and i also missed interaction between Grover and Annabeth. It feels like they cut out their background story. They know each other for ages and in the show it doesn’t show. Yes, they mentioned Thalia a few times, but when it comes to Grover and how he feels about it, he just blocks it and talks about hamburgers (ep3) and after that they never talk about it again. It’s so weird. Grover is a very sensitive, emotional and anxious character and he feels guilty and responsible for Thalias death. That is such a burden that he has been bearing for years. And instead of going deeper into that, they include Lukes father and already talk about his mother.. They could have waited with that. But i dont know how they wanna work on Grovers background story and feelings in season 2 when the trio is gonna be separated. I really wish they would have included the conversation the trio has in the truck on way to Las Vegas,it was an important conversation to all of them.
I've read people saying that Poseidon does have something to do with rain, but it also struck me as weird, but I guess they really couldn't flood the apartment or the restaurant for Sally to feel Poseidon's presence, so the rain was the next best thing 🤣
I felt ALL the feels❤️❤️❤️
Ranking
8,5,4,3,1,6,2,7
I'd have to rewatch the show but I think that ranking is all right 👌
im guessing Hermes send his cab or something...
he's so nice in this show
I like this better they fighting each other at the end (luke and percy) and percy basically won and then said sorry and then luke is shocked and furious and then attacked him again instead of a scorpion stung percy thats kinda lame on percy’s side.
As moderator of r/camphalfblood I loved this series! Everything from the writing to representation was great. It was amazing to see the trio played by POC actors, they all deserve rewards for their acting. I think a lot of criticism towards the series is the result of right wingers who want to make the fandom unsafe. I see it often on the subreddit I moderate and in fanfiction. Most fans can't comprehend that Percy, Annabeth, and Grover aren't white.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The turn around time of shooting/production/release is so long…the actors will age out of the characters very quickly
then they better announce season 2 ASAP
This episode was better than most of this season. But the flashbacks really ruined the momentum and buildup
I was really happy that they included percy/luke moments so you'll find no complaints from me on that front
To be fair tho… Percy only has like three friends atm. So if 2 of them didn’t betray him and prob wouldn’t anytime soon, I mean there’s only one more person it could be.
When are you going live today?
Could you upload the livestream as a video afterwards?
at 19:00 CEST (in 1h 20min)
I overall think it was the best episode so far. 3 points I want to mention- 1.While I love Percy and Poseidon meeting much more in the show, in the book Poseidon didn't act in such a warm way. The only thing he gave Percy as a good vibe was a show of respect and trust. 2.Stoning Gabe was pointless because in the show Gabe wasn't abusive. At least in the book his murder was justified. 3.The reveal scene could have been perfect if there was a Scorpion there. I don't mind the duel change but about the Scorpion I do mind.
Luke able to tear dimensions with his sword, make me feel like he is Janemba from DBZ. I don't remember this ability in the books. And the worst change ever- Having Annabeth fighting Luke. In the book she can never raise a blade against him, so having her fighting him it's shitting on her character and I don't like it. The Trident on the bid represents the fact that Poseidon claimed Percy as his son. If they do season 2 I hope they would give justice to my man Tyson.
Luke’s sword can do that in the book! It’s is described in the book as him slashing his sword and disappearing into a ripple of darkness.
@@sadiemorgan4389 Thanks. But why screaming at me in the first line? I simply didn't remember that's all.
@@eranshachar9954 lol I just always add exclamation points to anything i say tbh
@@sadiemorgan4389😆
I disagree with the Annabeth point. She’s never eager to fight Luke, but it makes sense for her to do so to protect Percy. I think adding her to that scene was a great change.
Why did they race swap characters?.. The actors were good (some better than others) but I would have to wished to see a much accurate depictions of characters?..
Idc about the Gods because they canonically change their forms (Even though some of the Gods have particularly distinct physical traits that don't change like Athena's silver/gray eyes)...
I hope Laurence fishburne is chosen to continue the zeus
Rip lance
I think he could make a great Zeuz, but sincce the god doesn't appear in season 2 maybe they simply won't recast him until season 3?
This season is shit
this show is so bad. Lots of cope coming from peopl;e knowing this is the last adaptaion they will get
Or people just disagree with you and don’t think exactly like you do lol
