Season 2 and 3 renewal makes the most sense because 3 is the first time people can't compare to anything but the books. I think the new characters in that season will be so important as well!
Yeah I really hope Disney does a double renewal for seasons 2 and 3 because they take place so close together and having to wait a year and a half after season 2 comes out will suck not only because we'll have to wait but the kids will no longer look as age accurate. i mean Walker has aged SO MUCH in just the last 2 years since he was casted as Percy so imagine what he's gonna look like 2-4 years from now!

He probably had Hermes send the package when he got mad that Gabe was trying to break into the apartment. Which ykw, good for him. Sally already reclaimed her agency by divorcing and locking Gabe out. If Gabe wants to escalate his abuse, that's on him.

Once again, I love your thoughtful reactions, thank you. Regarding Gabe and Medusa's head, IMO Sally had nothing to do with it. They make a point of showing Percy and Sally leaving their apartment with a sense of finality, and Gabe coming along what appears to be hours later. I got the distinct impression that Poseidon sent the package back when he knew Sally and Percy wouldn't be around, to absolve them of any complicity in Gabe's demise (well deserved - who opens a package that's addressed to someone else?). Just another way (albeit somewhat gruesome) that Poseidon expresses his love and concern for Sally and Percy.

I think Gabe opening the package with Medusa's head was 100% a happy accident. They set up his boundary issues in the first episode when he tells Percy he answers Sally's phone calls, so to me it felt like a callback to that moment showing how nosy, disrespectful, and idiotic he is lol
I checked and actually Luke's sword had a similar power in the book too.

For some reason it's never mentioned in the other books.
The Luke reveal was honestly nicely done. I think I'm actually just tired of the tropes where the villain has to spell everything out for the main character to get it, and we've seen that all the time. It feels like the media is dumbing it down to the main character AND the viewers that way. And the main character just sits there and go "how could you?". Percy is letting us in with this discovery, it takes us in. We're figuring things along with him. One of these examples is The Good Place. It doesn't take Michael to say "I've been torturing you all this time, you dumb idiots" it took Eleanor to figure it out everything before Michael revealed he's been a demon the whole time. You don't have to make a protagonist clueless or dumb the whole time for the reveal to pay off.
Also: this Luke built up is so much better. Because in the books I've never got to fully sympathetize with him. Even after he died. Because I feel like it was way too late for him when he's already made that choice so I was like: "bummer😕". But this, it allowed me to gain so much sympathy for him and how his fate was just so caught up in all of the gods and how he really was deserving to be called a hero by Percy at the end
I wouldn’t give up hope just yet, Cam! Rick & crew might be saving that “Your mother is a queen among women” line for a later time 🙂♥️

Unfortionately, the runtime and pacing is a Disney+ show issue as a whole, not just a Percy Jackson exclusive issue. Look at how the pacing of the Marvel and Star Wars shows can be
@@erikdaniels0nit might just be a problem with the weekly format… rewatching the episodes together solved any pacing issues I had. That’s just my experience tho… but I’ve seen many other people say the same thing online
@@erikdaniels0n true! i’m hoping they get longer episodes or more than 8 of them for later seasons, especially since the latter books are denser and more lore heavy. hopefully w how successful season 1 was, it will happen
people forget that percy was poisoned in ep4 so having him poisoned again in one season is not necessary yanno 😭 seeing luke & percy fight was way more impactful because throughout the entire ep, luke was the one that taught percy how to fight and percy using those tactics to fight him is more emotional.
also people need to realize that it’s hard to do a 100% book adaption because it would honestly not be good on screen & hard to replicate that. tv & books are different & the directors & writers are doing their best. ppl just need to trust that if and when we get future seasons, things that they’re yapping about might be addressed in future seasons & allow them to give it time.
overall, AMAZING finale & great show. this is the best adaption we got and if people don’t like it, they can just stick with the books
Some of the complaints I'm seeing from people on tiktok, make me think that they'd still find something to complain about even if the show was an exact copy from the book lol
When asked about a potential second season and if they had intentionally included any easter eggs to potentially set up future seasons, the showrunner had this to say: “I think it seems as though something's probably going to happen. Nothing's official. There's a lot of conversations going on. Hopefully there'll be some news at some point in the near future. Easter eggs, yeah for sure, but if I tell you what they are, then they're not Easter eggs. this show is truly amazing, it really captured the essence of the percy jackson books, i really like the changes they made, it added more exciment to people who have already read the books. And it truly was a faithful adaptation, the people behind it, specially the cast, loves this franchise and it really shows. And rick and all of us finally got the adaptation we deserved and i cant wait for s2 honestly, it will be epic!
I was so confused about Backbiter's portal abilities at first, but then I remembered that is actually how he leaves camp in the book! Luke doesn't really use the ability again in the series (that I can recall), so I'm SO excited to see why they decided to include it in the show!! Maybe some cool new Luke scenes in the Labyrinth? Or new scenes of him sneaking a really emotional conversation with Annabeth during The Titan's Curse?? The possibilities are endless!! I feel like it could be a great way for the writers to keep expanding Luke's character without limiting his presence primarily to Percy's dreams.

The Ancient Greek conversation was also in the book but Percy didn’t understand it apart from “Father”
I commented on another reactor’s video because he brought it up, that putting certain scenes from the book in different places in the tv adaptation than where they were in the book works better for the tv version because they can be much more impactful. He mentioned in his reaction for episode 5 that Annabeth being the one to see The Fates is much more impactful than Percy because she knows the lore about them and whose string they cut impacts her more as well. I find that it was better mentioning Annabeth’s arachnophobia in the finale because Luke is using it as an example to Percy on why the Gods are afraid of demigods and certain gods may act how they do( even though he was most likely lumping them all together). Also the changes made were for the better and moved the story forward in a tv adaptation . I was also thinking because the show is called Percy and the Olympians not Percy and the Lightening Thief it makes sense to make changes leading to what is some of the central plots/themes of the book series as a whole which foreshadow the other books. I truly enjoyed your reactions and breakdowns this season and look forward to more I will say when Season 2 is green lit.
An extra detail I loved is the training flashback with Luke and Percy, Luke’s training sword is now the same shape as Backbiter while Percy’s is the same shape as Riptide 😊 when Luke uses a sword earlier in the series, it’s the same shape as everyone else
I'm so tired of purist book fans on tiktok and twitter... like dude it's an ADAPTATION. Of course you can give your opinion and say that there are things that you didn't like, but throw hate at the show just because the pink poodle or the scorpion or the zebra wasn't there... at least formulate good constructive criticism
I loved the show, the cast, the scenery, the photography, simply divine... I think the changes were for the better, there are none that really bothered me...
Yes, I must say that there are chapters that did not formulate the times well and in that I hope they improve in the future because I think the format of the series does not favor it, in fact I think it would have a better reception if it had been released in its entirety. If they continue to intend to release a weekly chapter, they should improve that aspect and perhaps extend the duration of the chapters.
The other aspect where I think they have room to improve is in the musical. I think that each character should have a musical leitmotif that is built over the seasons and that, for example, Percy's and Annabeth's leitmotifs finally come together in a single percabeth song when they have their first kiss... that musical aspect I hope they improve it, because the music itself is already good, but it can be better.

I think the head was delivered after Sally and Percy left, I don't think Sally left it there on purpose. I kind of have a feeling that Rick changed that for a reason, he didn't want to make her a killer in this way Justice is still served for her but without her getting her hands dirty. Plus if you look at the door as Percy and Sally are leaving you see no box there there's no box in her hand I believe it was delivered after they left.
Cool vid! Agree that it’s good they added flashbacks to camp, and they fit in with other episodes where what happens in flashbacks comes back in the end of the episode… anyway: he had to be at camp a long time! - he gets kicked out of school - during the year (probably close to the end) and gets kicked out (by mr D anyway) of camp the day after we percieve he gets back from olympus. In my knowledge, between 6th and 7th grade kids in the us have more than 7-10 days summer break…

I agree with you about the Gabe scene. Gabe wasn't as mean in the show. Yes he was meaner later in the show like you mentioned, but he wasn't as horrible as the books. The books made me want to punch him, the show made me think he was just stupid. The show didn't include him abusing Sally like the books did. I think Sally killing Gabe on purpose would hurt her character given what we know about Gabe from the show universe. Gabe didn't deserve to be killed, but dying because he was nosy and doing something he knew he wasn't supposed to do is okay with me.
Physical abuse isn't the only abuse to exist (him answering sally's phone and opening percy's mail without either their consents is also a form of domestic abuse, not to mention the latter also being a criminal offence afaik), but otherwise I agree with everything else you said.
idk, i actually LIKE that we didn't get the "queen among mortals" line because that would make it seem more like Sally is already just a pleasant wistful memory of the past, instead of very much a part of Poseidon's present feelings, u know what im saying?
Overall, I'll give the whole show an 8/10, which means it has a lot of room to improve, and I see a lot of potential that wasn't explored with the younger cast, like Clarisse and Luke (soooo excited for S2). I agree with Cam on the pacing issue, but the exposition thing did bother me just a tiny bit, although tbf it's justified given how much of a world-building they had to do in this first season.
I'm not much of an action person, so I never got behind those complaints (also, the first book doesn't have a mind blowing amount of action, nor is Percy a badass fighter yet). I did love, by a lot, the dramatic moments and emotional scenes, especially Annabeth's speech in ep 5, Sally and Poseidon's flashback in ep 7, and Percy finally meeting his dad. They had me at the verge of tears. It's gonna take a while for me to let go of the "Do you dream about Mom?" moment. You could feel all the love and regret in Poseidon's eyes and the yearning of Percy to connect with his father. Both Walker and Stephen did an incredible job and I want to see more of them together.
I know they will renew the series, so I wish they announced ASAP. I think the amount of press they did back at the start of the season, and then by the end (along with the fan events) was a huge sign.

I like the series better in this part, Percy fights Luke in sword fighting and even Luke almost loses if Percy doesn't stop and say sorry. being stung by a scorpion and not being able to do anything seemed lame on Percy's part.
and yes, I didn't like many things about this series and some of the changes they made from the book seemed unnecessary, there were many shortcomings in terms of scenes and action, but I tried to understand in the end, they are still 12 years old and I would expect that in season 2 and So, as the cast get older, the intensity of the story and scenes will also increase and improve. This isn't a bad series, there's still a lot of room for growth.
Props to walker scobell tho, all i can say is that HE IS AMAZING. and i’m happy that he’s our Percy and I can’t wait to see him grow into such an amazing actor in the future as well. ❤

I think for Disney+ it has to be of Gabe's own accord, because it would compromise Sally's innocence and heart. It would kind of be a lot for Sally to low key kill Gabe whereas if he's just dumb it saves any questions
Plus, the way Gabe goes out in the movie (very similar to the show except with a fridge instead of a box) was the only change the movie made that Rick actually liked.

PREMISE: I'm not a native English speaker, so don't come to me for grammar errors.
I'm positive for a renewal, the finale was good, but even if I think some of the Tiktok criticism was excessive, I also think that you are also too permissive to some changes that were made to the show and about the lack of suspance, which is completely absent in this series, sorry but the dream scene and the fact that they thought that Hades was still the villain last episode won't balance the fact that they knew everything everytime they encountered a monster or a god etc..., because there were too many of those in the series. Some of them, I understand, they made sense, but others didn't put anything more to the story and were pointless. The problem with pacing is a huge problem of the series, I understand that for you is not a problem, but it is also important for a series to accept criticism when it is due. I understand people saying that they don't critizise the series because they are afraid of the cancellation, otherwise I am absolutely convinced that costructive criticism is necessary for the series to improve and put out seasons better written than this one, because if they continue on this route, I don't think this series will be remembered as a good adaptation (not because of the casting or stuff like that, but because it wasn't enough well written). I don't understand the way people justify some of the changes with "it is a kids show", because kids deserve something well written also for them, is even more important that the show don't treat its audience like idiots. You said that there were scenes that they had to cut because of screentime, and I agree, but at the same time there are some choices made, stuff that they included that they could have cut and stuff that didn't need to be cut.
I appreciate the change of the reveal, I think it made sense in the way the character of Luke evolves (I think recruiting Percy was a last adn desperate resource, his first plan was to leave him in Tartarus, but when it didn't work, he decided that the best way to proceed was bringing Percy to his side), and I don't really mind Annabeth being there, the thing that bothers me is the fact that we don't see how badly Luke's betrayal affected her, which I think is something the series should have show more (I don't intend in the way that they have should brought up her crush, but I don't think the series showed enough how much Annabeth cared for Luke).
I don't like that the show didn't resolved the fact that Percy was FREAKING WANTED FROM THE FBI, I know that her mother was rescued, but he was still considered the culprit for the stuff on the train and the explosion at the Arch. Also Gabe wasn't enough of a piece of sh*t in this series, you can't convince me otherwise, he looked more pathetic than an a**hole.

The change of the dead line was to put the trio and especially Percy on a higher plane of responsibility and accountability than other demigods. To say that the fight is bigger than just this one quest which in reality it is being the war with Kronos. And that one shouldn’t give up just because the deadline passed. This makes the show more interesting than the book point.
I mean it’s just takes away the suspense to it like the world should’ve been in shambles as soon as it passed, in my opinion it just makes Zeus look weak
@@KO_116 It was barely 24hours past the deadline, the world wouldn’t be in shambles as per the mention of WWII. It doesn’t make him look weak makes the him and gifs look like they know how war actually works.
My only regret of this shows runtime is not having found you before because fuck do I love your thoughts and reactions and I wish I had followed you much earlier! Here’s to hoping there’s a season 2,3,4 and 5! And to much more reactions and breakdowns!
I don't think Sally would leave it outside the door, because there is a chance someone else could see it. If she set it as a trap, she could have left the locks unchanged and placed it inside the apartment.

I have gripes with certain things in the book to show differences as well, but to the degree of needing to complain about it. I agree with a lot that you said on this. You have such a nice and genuine thoughts and reaction to this and that's amazing!
This adaptation with the added changes honestly adds more to the depth and weight of the story. The changes to locations and the deadline makes so much more sense and gives the act of leadership and bravery that Percy possess that much more impactful. The Luke scenes were done sparingly and beautifully. I love how simple and subtle he is until the big reveal which helps the non book readers. That's another thing that I really like is that I love Luke as a character in the books and Charlie is such a huge fan that his version of Luke with the great writing for this show was just so well done. Making him not a full on villain is great because it adds to his character's arc. I've read these as the books were coming out since I was 12 when the first book was released and followed it through. I study scripts and films with a passion and what they've done here is a well made adaptation. No adaptation will ever be 100% perfect to match, otherwise just read the book. I love your reactions and breakdowns and videos you've been making. So excited to see more of your content in the future. Very bittersweet that the first season is over. Can't wait to see where this will go and I hope and wish for its continuance.

Lance has such a presence and is a wonderful casting. I felt every gravity of his scene. I am so saddened by his passing and gonna be even more sad when we see his recasting in the future. I expected the "in loving memory" but it still hit so hard. He's the voice of so many outstanding character roles in my loved games as well. RIP, He'll forever be missed
Personally I perfer it, if Sally had nothing to do with Gabe finding the box.
In the books it was a bit more justified, why she would petrafy him, but I still didn't like her killing him too much.

It wasn't perfect, but it was a great season. I keep in mind that this isn't on HBO or Max, it's on Disney+ and is for other kids, even though us adults love it.
The only thing I want is season 2 to have hour long episodes. That's all I'm looking for, I trust them with the story to be rewritten how it needs to be
My take on Gabe finding the head was a bit different. It looked like a recent delivery - we see Sally grab an umbrella implying it looked like rain/was raining, but no box in sight as she and Percy leave - my thought was that it was Poseidon setting him up, not Sally.
The gods aren’t allowed to smite random mortals, but hey, if one opens something that isn’t theirs? This sounds JUST like what the olympians do.

I love all your breakdowns to s1 of PJO TV! The way you express such foresight, love, and patience with this adaptation, especially in terms of its "faithfulness" to the source material is really refreshing and something I relied on when I got a bit too nitpicky (it happens automatically, I can't turn it off at times😆😅). One example is the end of the Ares fight where I was a bit annoyed that Ares never said anything about cursing Percy, but I reasoned that it could be a cool reveal later for *suspense*, so w/e¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, overall I adore this show and agree with your thoughts on it❤
Poseidon never really answered the question. Did he ever dream of Sally?
He actually did in a roundabout way. If you watch Percy's face after Poseidon reveals the pearl, you can tell he's making the connexion of why there were four of them and how he's realising that Poseidon himself gave them four, to get Sally home as well. In the book it never made sense that the neried only gave them three when there were three questers plus Sally, while this makes much more sense. It and the fact he showed up right when Sally wished for him to shows that he still cares very much for Sally and his son.
I think gabe was turned to stone of his own accord- that’s how I took it. I don’t think this version of the character warrants being murdered. I just don’t think that would sit right since at worst he’s just a dead beat guy.
