I´ll never understand the people who prefer the movie to the series, Grover in the movie barely gets to be the "cool boy" that the only goal he shows is to be with the daughters of Aphrodite. Imagine creating a character of nature explaining how man destroys it and then being that same example of man that they put to play the character. Demolishing My Character it´s enough motive for me to dismiss the movie entirely, even worse if they do it to one of the main characters.
Nice to hear some of Rick's stories again. It's been ages since I heard about the orange food! Completely forgot about it. Also, not sure I've seen one of TV Insider's videos before, but the style of having occasional "behind-the-scenes" shots that revealed more of how it was being filmed... that was fascinating to see. Thank you!
Rick’s close collaboration on the series and the casting decisions really make the series sing! BUT, they really should’ve gone for a twofer and shot the second book right after because of how quickly Walker and Leah have grown up. It’s a risk casting early adolescent children, Walker was 12 when he auditioned whilst filming The Adam Project and if you look at him in TAP, he’s a small squirly 12 year old and sometimes boys mature late giving directors the ability to use them in a child/early teen role like PJ in the first books even into their mid teens. That didn’t happen with Walker. By filming he was an average 13 year old starting to mature and by the end of filming, he was 6” taller and a deeper voice and by the time of the launch at almost 15, he’s now almost adult height with a man’s voice. By the time they begin to film season 2, he will be 16 and even older looking and literally too old for the role of PJ which is a tragedy as he’s a fabulous actor who has aced this role magnificently.
My concern is the aging of the actors. Walker was 13 when this was filmed, he just turned 15!! He not only looks older, but has grown taller and his voice has changed. Rick complained about the aging-up of the actors for the movie, but by the time this gets done filming, the actors are going to be in the 20's too! They really need to film all seasons back to back to get this done, otherwise, it's going to be a disaster.
I honestly think they can pull off having a 20yo play a 15-16yo, if they take much longer it might be a bit awkward for book 2 and 3, though. Walker already aged so much in season 1 lol. Regardless I will watch and love every season I am sure
The show is good, definitely need longer episodes. I'm not sure whether or not I love or hate how it is straying from the books, sure there is good scenes but also because of it, there are bad scenes. Longer episodes for season 2, bigger budget would be an added bonus, would be really good and nice to have.
Its definitely going both ways with the changes theres some positive ones like all the extra story for sally jackson, leaving bread trails for future romance between a certain 2 characters but theres also some negative ones like removing the whole DOA scene with percy bribing charon and charon wanting a raise then percy asking hades to give him a raise (this may seem small but personally i found it one of the funniest moments in the first book) and some if the stuff there doing with grover really doesnt sit right with me the way he has been this entire season how on earth is that guy meant to go out and search for pan himself? My guy wouldnt make it off half blood hill alone All in all its a mixed bag imo certainly some great moments but some poor ones too

As much as I love Percy jacksonu, the first season was underwhelming. The pacing was the worst part, but also the way they handled Hades really disappointed me. Hades is a nice god, yet he’s supposed to be a sad, tragic character, who has suffered loss. However, in this show he’s just a comedic character who does nothing but make jokes. Still am hopeful for a season two, just hope it’s handled better.
Remember when authors cared about their reputations? Now it’s cash out while u still can. I really hope those teams of writers mutilating his work for esg scores is worth it. Fr how fulfilling must that be for an actual success artist to take claim for ideas coming out of people with a combined 10 projects under their belts the most experienced writer was some draft editor from the invisible man (2000) but I do get it now pay off the dude with all the credibility to take the blame for all the bad decisions then you can barely pay the easily controlled fresh grads to write all the garbage you want in the show.
Rick kinda ruined this series. It’s not gonna make it to season 5 if they keep changing all the stuff and having the kids basically be omnipotent knowing every monster ever
@@ADarkloreno. I don't accept that as an answer. there is no reason why they couldn't fit the same basic story beats as the books in the runtime they have. they add a bunch of useless side stuff that ultimately goes nowhere and feels like filler, and a show with supposedly so little time should not be wasting it on filler! there is no reason why they can't let the characters discover things for themselves. there is no reason why every time an obstacle comes along, the characters immediately know everything about it and how to beat it. there is no reason to do it like that. they are removing all tension from the story so the main characters can seem... smarter? better? I really don't know what they were going for but all it did was make the story immensely boring. they are wasting time, you don't get to make the excuse that they have too little when they actively waste it.
Keep in mind, it's a show based on a middle school book series made in the early 2000s. There were changes, sure, however they made the story more believable/ filled in a lot of the plot holes not addresses in the book.
My favorite book series of all time, and yet the movies were better. The movies were still bad, but still had a so bad its good quality to them and the show just had awkward and cringy acting that was just bad. And yes I know everyone is harping on this, but the fact that the characters don't look like the book counterparts took me completely out of it and made it feel like an even less faithful adaptation than the movies. I adore the books so much and keep getting let down by the film adaptations

Will we get to the point we see Lityerses? If so cast me rick 🙏
Anna Beth can be rearranged to Athena bn
You f*cked up Rick!
Rick's comments at the 5min 16 sec mark is so aggravating. He really thinks this show is the best thing ever doesn't he 😂
Way too many changes. Such a dissapointment, Rick.
I feel like rick might be a little bias here🤔🤔🤔🤔
I hope season 2 is better than the hot garbage that was season 1. very dissapointed. Glad its coming out, but still
It's just not doing it for me
Dog sht show hbo should have taken over
Rick kinda ruined this series. It’s not gonna make it to season 5 if they keep changing all the stuff and having the kids basically be omnipotent knowing every monster ever
The changes are fine and fit the TV series medium and runtime that they're allowed.
Ik!
I totally hope there would be no S2
Such a Dishonor to a Great Book Series 💀
You are a goofy Rick
And I’m sure those questions aren’t real if they haven’t asked you why is this show booty lbs😅
Here’s my question: why is it so bad?
I mean it’s not for everyone and a lot of people didn’t like it so you’re not alone
Fax
PJO fans are overrating the show 💀
@@-._.-What-Is-Up-._.- or maybe some people are just genuinely enjoying it because not everyone has to have the same opinion
@@ToyStoryboy2009 May be , But My Guess : The Movies was terrible and the series is the only hope of L/A Percy Jackson
Keep in mind, it's a show based on a middle school book series made in the early 2000s. There were changes, sure, however they made the story more believable/ filled in a lot of the plot holes not addresses in the book.
Mid show so far, especially cause of him.
I adore the books so much and keep getting let down by the film adaptations
normalize bad show erasure
Bro sucks at making shows
