I have had one of those motors for over 15years & for some strange reason for the last number of years it keeps geting heavier & heavier, in all my 73 years I have never heard of such a thing.
My Dad bought me a barely used '76 Evinrude 9.9 on a little MFG 12' skiff when I was 12yo and I ran the snot out of that thing in the mouth of the Rappahannock river catching blue crabs, spot and croaker. It was all corroded but was still running when I sold it at 30yo. It's probably still running! I'm going to get another for a kicker motor once I close the deal on a used boat with a Johnson 115hp motor on it
Man, I'm glad ur ok, dude. Falls are bad at our age! Great little motor. You ever heard of Gheenoes? This motor in a 15 will make one of those fly. Those boys over in Florida love those Gheenoes. They would love to accept you on their forum.
Have the same outboard. Can’t get the primer bulb hose to seat into the gas tank, won’t start at all, I have it in neutral, I have the shaft in start position, 50:1 mix with twc3 oil and gas. Not sure what to do next. Any tips bröther ?
Great videos and good advice. Many thanks! I’ve secured a perfectly new, never even started 1992 9.9 Johnson from storage in the Bahamas. I know it’s a very common motor and I see many of them still running. My question is: how rare is it to find one in this unused condition in 2022? Should I keep it in the crate or just crank it up? Thanks for any information.

I collect a lot of things, but one thing is for sure, I use everything I collect. If you fish then use it I say, thanks for watching
Hi I have the same engine, can you tell me why the red mechanism would lock out the puller ?
It's there to protect you from starting in gear or the throttle position too wide open,.
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina any idea why it would be stuck? Throttle in start position, shifted in neutral and lockout still engaged.
Hi mate, what type of spark plugs does this outboard use?
QL77JC4 - Champion Spark Plug ( #828M)
Thanks for replying, great videos, learning a lot about this engine from watching your videos!👌👍
You do great work sir , do all 9.9 old johnsons take that type of spark plugs
Nice find! Such a classic! What type of compression tester do you use?
Here is a link for one I wouldn't be afraid to use amzn.to/3xDL4My
