- Hi everyone. Today we are going to be looking at the Russian IRP otherwise known a 'The White Star". I purchased mine from MREmountain.eu for €49.99 a few of months ago and I can't wait to look inside, as the previous Russian ration I looked at "The Shturm" was great. In this video I will show you what you get for your money and we'll taste test this legendary 24 hour ration pack.
I have reviewed several other military ration and have a lot more coming up in the future. If this is something you like to see, or you have a passion for the outdoors, shooting, camping and cool bushcraft gear, why not subscribe to the channel.
Thanks for watching and much love to you all.

Not "Armenian" but rather "Army Bacon". Very enjoyable video. Keep up the good work!
Yes my mistake… google translate isn’t always my friend 🤪 Thanks very much 😊🙏🏼 Have a great evening 😊👍🏼
Army Bacon? That's Soldier's Arse...
The crackers aren't stale, they were purposefully baked dry and hard to preserve for longer. Ever heard of hardtack? Both it and those crackers above are to be dipped in the available beverages to soften them before eating.
Yes I’ve heard of hardtack 👍🏼 I know they aren’t stale….but they taste that way. These are better than others I’ve had (some feel like they’d break your teeth without soaking). Thanks for watching 😊👍🏼
hardtack?
*clack clack*
You can tack them onto your roof if you lose a tile 🤪
The cracker last ten years or more. Easily. I've eaten some from 2005. They are fine dunked in beverage or with toppings, especially the apple jam.
@@carrisasteveinnes1596I love the Apple jam!
That’s very interesting 🤔😊👍🏼 I bet the field kitchen serves good food 😊👍🏼
Finaly adequate MRE eater.
😁 Thank you 😊👍🏼✊🏼
This looked fantastic!!! I've got 2 on the way and can't wait to try them!! Awesome review!!
Thanks very much my friend 😊👍🏼🙏🏼 Yes it really was a fantastic ration. I can’t wait to get another too 😊😊 All the best, Jono 😊👍🏼
I like you different approach to MRE reviews. Wholesome and real.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate that 😊👍🏼 Have a great weekend 😊
Just came across this video today, I haven't watched many MRE reviews before and I found yours very interesting. I would have been quick to spread some of that apple puree on a cracker and top it off with some cheese. I have seen videos in which vets talk about their fav MRE and how they ate them. The ingenuity is really cool. What is super cool, I think is how many different ways there are to package an MRE and each country seems to do it differently. It's endlessly fascinating in what each culture considers a proper daily ration and the variety blows me away.
Thank you, I’m glad you found it interesting 😊🙏🏼 I agree, the variation between rations is very interesting. This is why I love testing them. It’s always exciting opening a ration I’ve never seen before. All the best and have a great day 😊👍🏼
Definitely one of the better ration reviews I’ve seen. Keep it up!
Thanks very much 😊👍🏼 All the best 😊
My stepson served in the US army was deployed to Iraq. I knew nothing about MREs but he brought a few home and I was amazed about the FRH and how much goes into these. I ate a few and quickly realized they’ve figured out how to make something very fast to eat that keeps you full in very small portions! It’s hard to finish a 24hr MRE in 24 hours if it’s your day off work and you’re doing nothing! Loved the review! Subbed
Edit: the ones he gave me were delicious, as well as interesting. Very proud of my stepson, he was a specialist in locating and disarming or detonating explosive devices
You are certainly right, they are very filling. I had to film this over a few days as it was so big. Thank you very much, I really appreciate that. All the best to you and have a great day. 😊👍🏼✊🏼
You as well friend! Loved the video
Oh wow he’s a explosives specialist. Much respect to him ✊🏼 No wonder you are proud. I hope he’s home safe now 🙏🏼 Take care my friend 😊👍🏼
Made me hungry this review 🤣👍
There was plenty of food to fill you up 😂👍🏼
Great review! I'd never think of trying these types of meals and it's so interesting hearing your thoughts!
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼👍🏼 Hope you’re having a great weekend 😊🌞
I watch this video right after watching Niko Ortiz video lol
😁👍🏼 🇷🇺
Very good review of this ration. Great presentation. Please do more.
Thank you very much 😊🙏🏼 More are on the way 😊👍🏼
Good to see you, looks interesting
Thanks very much my friend 😊👍🏼 Have a great weekend 😊✊🏼

Sudah lama tidak merasakan hal seperti ini.
Menyenangkan sekali bisa menonton video anda berlama-lama.
Banyak ilmu yang bisa diambil dari sini.
Terimakasih sudah berbagi dan salam kenal🙏
Terima kasih banyak. Saya menghargai komentar Anda dan saya senang Anda menikmati videonya 😊🙏🏼
your food look delicious and so beautiful scenery
Thank you very much 🙏🏼😊 Have a nice day 😊👍🏼
I would eat it in combat. Unfamiliar menu but I would eat it anyway.
It’s a great ration. I would definitely try it again. Have a great day 😊👍🏼
Foiled packaging is not only for "freshness" you can use this outer package as a bucket to carry some water(at least for a short distance), it should not leak. Could be handy, especially is you opened it carefully and saved whole handles. I saw people doing that and they said it is an intended feature.
"Stale"(well, maybe they really are, not sure) crackers are whole grain ones, they supposed to be healthy food, fibers and all that. Idk, I like to eat properly processed flour).
Russian military MRE's usually follow simple logic - relatively cheap(we are not that rich), high in calories and fat - as a preservative as well as a way to get these calories fast and recognizable local dishes and products. Stewed beef is present almost in every MRE, maybe somebody is eating it as it is, but usually people tend to add it in other dishes.
That’s very interesting. I never thought of the packaging being used to carry water, but it makes sense. All ration crackers taste stale to me. Maybe stale is a bad word. Boring or dry maybe (when eaten by themselves). At least they aren’t like the US MRE crackers, which absorb all the water from your mouth. This Russian IRP is one of my favourite rations. It didn’t taste cheap, so they must prepare everything very well. The high fat content foods will be great for winter. Thanks for your comment, it was nice to hear your view. Have a great evening 😊👍🏼
@@GreeklishOutdoors In Russia, such a diet costs 4-6 dollars.
Got to be said Jono this ration is very very good 👍
Only downside is the weight 2kg is hefty but in an OP that doesn’t matter.
Great review m8t
Best regards Simon
Thanks very much Simon 😊🙏🏼 I totally agree. Heavy, but such a great variety of food and drinks. I really enjoyed this one. Cheers mate 🙏🏼 Have a great weekend Simon. Best wishes, Jono 😊👍🏼💂🏼♂️
I've had that Ration Pack. Nice design. If I were to obtain an MRE again, I would. Also I would display the ration pack empty of course. May think of starting a NATO theme with MREs. Other than that, magnificent looking ration pack. One thing that sticks out is the design and the look, is how well designed it is. I love it and would get it again never the less.
I agree the ration is fantastic. It feels of great quality and there’s lots of tasty items. All the best 😊✊🏼👍🏼
Tnx for vid...Am. guy reviewed this and customs took out the actual meal portions, so it was quite empty once he opened it
I’ve seen that happen a few times with rations. Luckily mine was intact. This was a great ration. All the best 😊👍🏼
Your awesome and awesome video
Very nice of you to say 😊✊🏼 Thank you 😊🙏🏼
Your very welcome no problem 😎👍
I ordered one that had the chicken and rice entrée. Heated it up on my woodstove and loved it. Not so impressed with the crackers, the Polish/Lithuanian cumin hard tack has this beat. Got drunk and ordered another the other day.
I was impressed on how good it was. I think people presume Russian rations are bad, but to be honest it was one of my favourites. I agree, the SU-1 crackers in the Polish/Lithuanian rations are better. Ah good one. I hope you enjoy it. All the best 😊👍🏼✊🏼
4530 calories that’s doing a lot better than any old pickle
😂 It sure is. I’ll take two of these any day! 😊👍🏼
Good morning, buddy! May joy and blessings surround you throughout the day.
Hello my friend. Thank you so much. I wish the same for you 😊🙏🏼
Vegetable caviar woot woot so worth it just for that
It was pretty good 😊😊👍🏼👍🏼
Good morning from the Great State of Texas. this meal looks really good to me. Where can I get a couple of these meals? Thank you for your review. Be safe and have a good day.
Hello my friend. Thank you very much. You can get them on eBay.com (search Russian IRP) although they can be a little expensive. I purchased mine from MREmountain.eu (not currently in stock). However, you can find similar Russian rations at mremountain.com/collections/foreign-mres-and-24-hour-combat-ration-packs?view=boost-pfs-original
I hope that helps. Have a great day. All the best, Jono :-)
@@DmitriyDenisocYes I agree 100 % 😊👍🏼
You are meant to eat that caviar zukkini together with crackers, you don't eat it just by itself, same with mashed apples, cheese and minced sausage.
These are like real everyday normal meal I would gladly like to eat.
I did eat some of caviar with crackers (just off camera), but as with most vegetable caviars, they are more like soup than the consistency of real caviar. I can understand you might want to eat the mashed apples with crackers, but for me it was a nice dessert on its own 👍🏼🎉 The minced sausage and the cheese with the crackers were very nice. In fact they might have been some of my favourite parts of the ration 😊😊 Have a great day 😊👍🏼☀️
If you like apple jam something you might try is apple butter
I’ve never tried it, but it sounds good 😊👍🏼
I have seen like twenty different types of russian rations reviewed but to be honest alot of them i found out were actually civilian travel rations because country is so large you may drive in some places for a long time before you see a town with a store or restaurant especially traveling east. They even make a childrens travel ration.
That’s very interesting, I didn’t know that 😊👍🏼 I wonder if they box up some of the civilian ones in military style boxes. I’ve seen a couple with photos of soldiers on them and presumed they were copies.
@@GreeklishOutdoors yours was a real deal as far as I'm aware, there is even "Not for sale" notice on the package.
@mikemikelson8767 Yes this was definitely a real one 😊👍🏼 I’m happy I got to try it. I have just received a different Russian MRE that I can’t wait to test. 😊
all mre with a star are army rations
😊👍🏼 It really was 😊
It beats our MRE's.
It’s beats many MREs. It’s a great ration. 😊👍🏼
@user-he4kc3oh9m 😊👍🏼
I like to see somebody do a lead test content on their food
Do you suspect they have a lot of lead contamination in their ration?
How much $$???? & We're to get them??jf
I purchased mine from MREmountain for €60. You can also buy them on eBay. The prices have changed since I bought mine (some are more expensive now). I hope that helps. 😊👍🏼
🤓
" Army Chocolate ". As opposed to what? " Civilian Chocolate " ?
I believe some “army chocolates” are made in a way so they don’t melt as easily as civilian chocolate. But in many cases, yes, there’s not much difference
It's supposed to be eggplant. Why it's called " caviar " ? My mentor was the Head Chef of Waldorf Astoria and I'm not sure Chef Keenan would know.
Maybe to make it sound fancy 🤷🏻♂️
“Caviar” in Russian was the name given to pureed or finely chopped mushrooms/vegetables
@user-yg1mq6kp2b Ah that’s interesting. Thanks for clearing that up 😊👍🏼
@@GreeklishOutdoors you're welcome!
It is vegetable mix, the main component is zucchini
Wow they eat chicken almost every Russian ration I have seen reviewed or eaten had beef and buckwheat for main with another entree of a piece of beef in juice
Yep standard food in many ration menus. I liked this one a lot. All the food was pretty filling. All the best 😊👍🏼
Leave it to me to think of something negative... But I'm wondering how many young men had this meal as their last... 😢
Yes it’s very sad to think that. I hope for peace ✌🏼✊🏼🙏🏼
aww man you don't open it and pu on fire, you just put on them fire because if you open you need to sterm all the time to cook everithing :)
Thanks for the tip 👍🏼 I opened because I thought it would burst under the pressure. All the best 😊👍🏼
@@GreeklishOutdoors well :) it should be a pressure then it will be cooked from both sides. All the best
@brankomilojevic5238 Thanks, I’ll remember that for the future 😊👍🏼 Have a nice evening.
You don't have to open it. I have cooked many times without opening it.
I guess you have a different taste than I have. I traded for a few Russian rats and not only are they heavy and bulky they taste horrible! The only good things where the chocolate, tea and coffee.
I agree that they are heavy/bulky, but I do like the taste of most of the menu’s I’ve tried. But yes we all have different tastes, so I can understand why you don’t like them. Have a great day 😊👍🏼
Its because you grown up eating different type of food , in my country people grown up eating things like this (civillian versions). Thats the same way i dont like Burgers from McDonalds , to much cheese like Americans do , or Indian type of food or Japanese sushis and live fish. For me all stuff in this video is normal thing to eat outside military. Only thing id have problem eating in this video is kaviar , just idea of eating fish eggs is gross and thats prob cause in my country caviar isnt popular and common food.
@almightymanshadow1002 Yes that’s very true. I grew up eating food from everywhere and I like to try new food, so I enjoy most rations I have. But yes, if you’ve grown up only eating certain types of food, anything new can be weird. All the best and have a good evening 😊👍🏼
@@almightymanshadow1002 I dunno why it calls "caviar", but it has nothing to do with fish, it is smashed zuccini, carrots, tomato paste and it was cooked with vegetable oil.. So it is smashed, cooked vegetables.

You have to wonder if this or any kind of MRE is reaching their troops in ukraine?
…and Armenian chocolate 🍫tell me how you got MRE?
I think I said Armenian bacon (google translate error) when it should have been army bacon. The chocolate was just chocolate… and very tasty too 😊👍🏼
its army bacon not armenian bacon
and its sterilized melted cheese
the chocolade is also called army chocolade
Thanks for that. Google translate let me down there. 👍🏼
Ok thanks. I think I said sterilised cheese (just not melted). It’s definitely like a cheese we have in the supermarket (normally for kids).
You didn't try the bacon?! 😊
You should have added it to the chicken porridge.
Everything tastes better with bacon. 😅
So these and ammo are in those trucks we see burning in those videos.
They very well could be. But soldiers may be carrying one in their own packs.
I've tried this meal and other russian ones and they are all kind of garbage when compared to any other ration i've tasted, these and the chinese ones are the absolute worst i've tasted.
As others have said about these cattle-tier rations, you need to wet the hardtack to make it taste like food.
I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy this ration. I thought it was pretty good, in fact I prefer it to some other western rations, which are usually too sweet. But everyone has different tastes. That’s what makes trying all these rations fun. All the best 😊👍🏼
