i was able to understand this guy speaking at 100%. Today i took a call from an american kid but i was not able to understand more than a 60-70% of what he was saying u.u Why all not americans can speak like him u.u
Albert Balbastre-Morte yeah... But i'm getting there :3 actually i'm really happy. I'll love to know how to improve my listening skills. I mean, when i ask someone to spell his/her name to me i really have a hard time.
Cesar Zvala Yup, things out of context are incredibly tough. As a freelancer, I have to deal a lot with the Government via phone, where it's all a series of passwords, names, data, addresses, etc. Since they're all random and have no connection to each other is a pain in the ass for me to know if they want me to go to Leicester Square Gardens or Lewster Mare Gardens.
Because in america live different nation and they have different accent. And also in other states of america speak different. I am from Moldova and then i came in USA first time i did not knew nothing in english, but after 1 year i can speak 30 -40 % with out trying to watching movies or some thing like that and i can not understant everyone , just some words . But i can read 70 -80 %.
Cesar Zvala It may be by dialect voice or speed. Speed is a problem too. Headway Beginer lecture at low speed is easy to listen than Headway Intermedia lecture ( you can search on youtube)
James, English is the 2nd language for me and I have learnt it in school of higer education for 5 years. I have always had problems with listening and understanding (I'm sure you know this type of people :) But I watched this video of yours and understood every single word even when you spoke fleuntly. By the way the advices are good. I liked the 2nd one mostly. Just thank you. By the way, I have not found a video about difference between "between" and "among". Could you give your ideas about this as a person who lives among native speakers. Is "between" really about choice between two things or some several things (but definite)?
Yo guys I have another really good trick! I always listen to advanced rappers like Witt Lowry or Logic. Im from germany and 15 (so sorry for my bad english :) I decided to understand what they're saying so I can rap with 'em or just get the feel from the song, you know what I mean... :D So I opened the Lyrics page (didnt look at the lyrics doe) and took out a sheet of paper. I played the music and stopped it every hmm I think 30 Seconds and wrote down what I remembered and understood, word for word and after that I compared it to the Lyrics. There were really much Words I dont even knew and I learned so much from it, how to spell them, how to write them, I mean today I can almost understand everything and Im the best in my class so I think it works :D As you can see I'm still a noob when it comes to write a text (mostly bc of the tenses) but i wont give up learning never been one for past tenses so know that im moving forward before i finish this sentence :p
Yesterday I began to Make a plan to study English in my own time for 5 months and after that, I gonna get back to this comment and put my experience here
Thanks so much. I did that and I'm happy because I was able to practice my listening and comprehension Thanks Teacher. 👇Teacher advice: 1-) Don't think just listen. (You can't understand two conversation at once) Advice: Close your eyes and listen. 2-)Ask questions (engage to be engage) 3-) Home practice, (no subtitles, repeat 2,3, 10 times sentences if you didn't understand) then play the subtitles and check. Advice: listen, kids program, tv programs like "Friends" and action movie. (Keeping listen with your eyes close)
OMG..I understand almost everything without subtitles may be because I watch soo much hollywood movies and english youtube videos but real problem occur when I start speaking .sentence formation and I don't understand which word will be suitable for present situation or which word to use in sentence :P
How many time did you practice listening. It just because you need more listening. It's called silent period. It takes about 1200 hours until your brain starts to make up the words instantly (will come out on your mouth) and automaticly according the ideas you want to express. But don worry, you are in the right way, carry on, and you will see better results :)
Absolutely. I can coach ANYONE in English, over Discord, Skype, phone, Zoom, etc... all for free. I don't charge anything at all. I am an American that loves culture exchange, that's all.
Subscribed! James, I'm totally agree with you. Very good video. But, please, I have a very important question to you: American English and British English. Which one have I to learn first? That's the question. I hope you replay to me. Thank in advance. Cheers from Italy.
well.. it's always depends on what you want to learn. If you prefer British English and you think it sounds better, learn British English! If not, American! Personally, I prefer British English.
Samuel Sebastian Lee Hi Samuel, I've got no preferences between American and British English, I like them both. The matter is that British English pronunciation is more difficult to me. At the same time I think that if I'll learn British English (more difficult), I'll learn American one too (easier). Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know :-)
That is very helpfull video but i have one problem, i can easly understand what people are saying but im stressed when im talking because im afraid to make a mistakes ;/
Don't be afraid. Just speak slowly, and eventually, you'll become better and better and will be able to speak like a native. Nobody is going to laugh at you.
+qweqeq wqeqweq The first rule I tell my students is don't be afraid of making mistakes. Native speakers realize English is a difficult language to learn. So relax, no one's going to laugh. If you speak English with totally no mistakes, native speakers will know your first language isn't English. :)

i was able to understand this guy speaking at 100%. Today i took a call from an american kid but i was not able to understand more than a 60-70% of what he was saying u.u Why all not americans can speak like him u.u
Calls are WAY harder
I can't understand when the video finished. Thanks a lot. You are the best teacher I have seen recently
u're very good teacher! i'm love your for explain!
Im from germany and 15 (so sorry for my bad english :)
I decided to understand what they're saying so I can rap with 'em or just get the feel from the song, you know what I mean... :D
So I opened the Lyrics page (didnt look at the lyrics doe) and took out a sheet of paper. I played the music and stopped it every hmm I think 30 Seconds and wrote down what I remembered and understood, word for word and after that I compared it to the Lyrics. There were really much Words I dont even knew and I learned so much from it, how to spell them, how to write them, I mean today I can almost understand everything and Im the best in my class so I think it works :D
As you can see I'm still a noob when it comes to write a text (mostly bc of the tenses) but i wont give up learning
never been one for past tenses so know that im moving forward before i finish this sentence :p
nothingtodo

You're so good teaching!
I am a native English speaker but I love watching James because when I don’t understand a word he explains the definition (What it means)
Man, you got me laughing really hard when you said "action movies are meant to stupid people!" You and Ronnie are the best!
Já viu o filme de The Rock brigando com um PREDIO? Isso é uma obra de arte feita pra um seleto e elevado grupo.
This was actually so motvational and you're hella right...keep it up
Yesterday I began to Make a plan to study English in my own time for 5 months and after that, I gonna get back to this comment and put my experience here
Thanks so much. I did that and I'm happy because I was able to practice my listening and comprehension Thanks Teacher.
👇Teacher advice:
1-) Don't think just listen. (You can't understand two conversation at once)
Advice: Close your eyes and listen.
2-)Ask questions (engage to be engage)
3-) Home practice, (no subtitles, repeat 2,3, 10 times sentences if you didn't understand) then play the subtitles and check.
I agree
me, too
How many time did you practice listening. It just because you need more listening. It's called silent period. It takes about 1200 hours until your brain starts to make up the words instantly (will come out on your mouth) and automaticly according the ideas you want to express.
But don worry, you are in the right way, carry on, and you will see better results :)
Ok... let it out, just.. let it out lol
Hi
You are my inspirations!!😍😍😘😘

if anyone needs help with English, I'm happy to help.
Could you help me?
Absolutely. I can coach ANYONE in English, over Discord, Skype, phone, Zoom, etc... all for free. I don't charge anything at all. I am an American that loves culture exchange, that's all.
@@priwncess Can you drop your ig name so we can communicate?
Hi! How's it going How old are u?
Subscribed!
James, I'm totally agree with you. Very good video. But, please, I have a very important question to you: American English and British English. Which one have I to learn first? That's the question. I hope you replay to me. Thank in advance.
Cheers from Italy.
British! :)
Samuel Sebastian Lee
Do you really think so? Reason?
well.. it's always depends on what you want to learn. If you prefer British English and you think it sounds better, learn British English! If not, American! Personally, I prefer British English.
Samuel Sebastian Lee
Hi Samuel, I've got no preferences between American and British English, I like them both. The matter is that British English pronunciation is more difficult to me. At the same time I think that if I'll learn British English (more difficult), I'll learn American one too (easier). Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know :-)
You should learn English first and then it gonna be easy for you to have both American and British
You're such a great teacher! Thank youuuuuu!
When someone is speaking english, I can't get it but I understand when I read 😵
X2 ,-,
Me 2
SAMEEEE
The same
Just keep practicing, gonna get a time ya gotta be surprised with yourself
That is very helpfull video but i have one problem, i can easly understand what people are saying but im stressed when im talking because im afraid to make a mistakes ;/
Don't be afraid. Just speak slowly, and eventually, you'll become better and better and will be able to speak like a native. Nobody is going to laugh at you.
+qweqeq wqeqweq Even if someone laugh at you, don't worry .
+qweqeq wqeqweq The first rule I tell my students is don't be afraid of making mistakes. Native speakers realize English is a difficult language to learn. So relax, no one's going to laugh. If you speak English with totally no mistakes, native speakers will know your first language isn't English. :)
+qweqeq wqeqweq I have the same problem :'(
+qweqeq wqeqweq me too!! :(
You are great! Thanks, from Poland :>
I have some questions to you about study in Poland
+Pole Dae If u want u can ask me as well. I'm study in Poland as well c;
GRAB was not only with your hands, but it can be with your brain that what's I learned in this fantastic lesson!!
Nice english :D Hahaha Cyka
Best language ever RU cyka xaxaxa
Уверен,что тем кто смотрит это перевод не нужен.-не тот уровен!)
Спасибо, капитан,только этот урок рассчитан на тех, кто в силах воспринять его медленную внятную речь
