      @a different dimension That's a great question. You could say it that way. I suppose I used "one" to refer to any person and "a language" to refer to any language he or she may know. I hope that makes sense.

    • @selado
      @selado 3 года назад

      @a different dimension No, because when you're saying "the language", you're talking about a specific language, a language you're familiar with. And when you're saying "a language", you're talking about an unknown language, a language you don't know about, or even talking about something that the languages have in common (or most of them).
      Understood? I am still a newbie on English, but if you have any other question, you can ask me! 😉

    • @fadibabawe5194

      Don't say "efforts"

      Hope you read the comment

    • @fadibabawe5194
      @fadibabawe5194 7 лет назад

      For Your English it's up to you to believe me or not. The right use of the word is without s as it is uncountable. I know that many write it with S but that is not correct. Check it with a smart teacher in your area
      I'm a teacher of english

    • @fadibabawe5194
      @fadibabawe5194 7 лет назад +2

      For Your English Formal writing has nothing to do with speaking.
      If that sentence (thanks for your efforts) is in spoken english then you are not constrained by any rules. However, you have to follow certain rules in formal writing and if you want to use that word (effort) in the right form write it without s. Ask an eilts expert he will be a great point of contact. As you said spoken english could have many different meanings. Anyway in case I'm wrong I'll be happy if you corrected me
      With love from Australia

    thanks a lot, I have two questions. the first: why am I understand you when you speak, unlike a movie for example? ( what I mean are you using simple words and speaking slowly on purpose? ) the second one is, can the verb "like" come with "to"? as you said I like to eat. lastly sorry for my bad English ^^

      Hello, I am not teacher but I think I can help you for your second question. When you use verb (like, love, hate ....), you can always follow with ING or TO + INFINITIF. I like to eat = I like eating
      I love to play football = I love playing football. I have learned that in my school.

    You're a superb teacher! Many of this things may be kind of obvious, but they make the difference between a native and an english student.
