Amen! I am 57 years old and have cerebral palsy. I didn't learn to play guitar until I was 50 after a band I was in broke up I formed my own band about a year and a half ago. I had to teach myself to sing while playing which is tougher than it looks. Kudos to all of those that make it look easy. We are about to release our 1st EP of all original music probably in about 2 months. Our 1st single in about 5 weeks. Love your channel .

You are the GOAT. I mean it. I picked guitar back up last year at 60 to play with my 15 year old son, and my left hamd has been paralyzed twice, with two recoveries. Playing is now my second greatest passion in life. I was getting frustrated earlier today, tryi g to play something ancyou have given me much inspiration.

I love seeing inspirational videos like this! Thank you for your service, brother! I knew you served, but I hadn't heard the full story until now. Truly amazing what you've been able to accomplish in the last 8 years! I've been going through a lot these past 4 & a half years, and stories like this help motivate me to not give up. My lead player died in January of 2020, and it really messed me up. By the end of that year, I'd gotten sober and recorded an EP with 5 of Pete's favorites as a tribute to him. Working with Pete gave me my confidence back, so I didn't want to give up, but it's difficult being a "guy with a guitar" solo act. But, I'm still making music, and I think I've finally put together a live show that Pete would be proud of, and I'm about to start booking gigs again.
Anyway, there's a lot more I could say, but I don't want to ramble too much. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration and positivity on here. Your videos are always fun to watch. Maybe one day, our journeys will lead us to cross paths or even work together. But, even if that never happens, please keep doing what you do and know that you are actually helping people and having an impact with your channel. Can't wait to see what's next for you!

You have a whole army of your own behind you man! Speaking from my own personal experience with degenerative disc disease in my spine which have already caused three discs to be replaced with artificial ones and fused with titanium cage, four reconstructive surgeries on my shoulder rendering my dominant arm to half strength… I know first and foremost how scary having these issues at a young age can make you feel. I broke down in tears when my doctor told me about my condition and how bad it actually was and how bad it will continue to get. Just know that you have so many awesome people behind you and supporting you in everything you do. We love you man. You’ve inspired a lot of us to pick up a guitar again (especially myself) and kick life in the balls! You sir are a fucking warrior and there’s no way in hell we won’t continue to push you to make amazing music, put on amazing shows, and continue to pump out content that we all look forward to! Stay metal Ray! Much love from the great upstate New York and a massive fan!!!

100% - never give up on yourself and find a way to make those dreams happen. You put in the work, and you are seeing the results. Doesn’t matter how long it took.
And yes, it’s okay to be proud of yourself! Trolls gonna hate (usually because they’re jealous, hate the world, etc.), but you have the right attitude to just have a laugh and move forward the way YOU want to. When you’ve worked so hard for something you really want to achieve, you’ve earned the right to give yourself a pat on the back.
After my 2003 accident at a summer camp where I was working, soon after my 22nd birthday, my entire life went offline. I physically medically could not continue on the path I had set myself upon. However, being the positive spirit that I’ve always been, I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and found some new purposes that were doable for me. I’m sadly a major mess medically and physically, and I can’t handle doing many things to this very day even though I’ve come a long way over the years. However, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. It’s a bummer that I couldn’t manage to do what I had wanted since I was a kid, but it doesn’t mean I couldn’t pivot to find happiness. I continually do that as my physical and medical situation ebbs and flows. I adapt with it. I can’t work at all anymore, and was only able to work part time for a whole bunch of years, but I’m still proud of everything I’ve achieved and accomplished - life isn’t always about the job you have, the partner you made a life with, etc. I have so much to be grateful for despite all the crap and pain I endure daily. Nobody can take that away from me. I know lots of people are in similar shoes who can’t figure out how to cope, and hopefully sharing this will help some people realize that there are still things everyone can do to find happiness in life - even when I was stuck in a hospital bed for 2.5 months straight and 6 months in a nursing home back in 2018-2019, and even having been largely homebound for the entire time since then (not counting all the dozens of ER and hospital stays). Since 2020, I learned to play guitar and my service dog who has been with me since 2017 - those are my main two sources of successes and joy. Neither makes me any money, but they do make me happy - and that’s far more valuable to me.
So if you’re struggling to find purpose and happiness, think about what really makes you happy and re-define what it means to be successful. Then pursue it. You will get knocked down, but just get up and dust yourself off. If you’re able to manage it, you could end up like our friend Xander here.
Kudos, Xander! And I’ve said it in the past, but thanks again for your service and being an amazing example to so many people out here.

Hey duder first off you should 100% be so proud of yourself!!! Your doing it! And I used to be a touring musician back pushing 20 years and long story. I had 2 major neck surgeries where they remove the disc and replace it with a cadaver bone and then put a titanium plate with screws to my vertebrae for stability. And theres a ton of nerve damage and I was on pain management and drinking crazy and lost my family. Wife left with the kids. And It took a few years for me to get the help I needed and now 5 years later I'm great and back to building music again. So many you've come so far I totally understand what it's like to be so young and your body being worse then n old man. And so many other people do too. So it's great to see you thrive. Keep the headspace your in and you'll do this forever. Thank you for your service ✌️

I kinda get what your saying dude. All my life I wanted to join the Royal Air Force (UK) as a pilot, I got to the age to enlist but I was refused on medical grounds which was basically childhood asthma but due it being on my medical records they refused. So it went from joining the armed forces from the age of 3 to reach 15\16 and being told "nope" and literally from that moment I didn't know what to do. A massive congrats for everything you have done and achieved so far and the way your music "career" is going with touring, writing and working with artists it's an amazing thing to see given you were appeared so lost way back when. Following the Channel for years, that was pretty much to see, that you will be doing great and it was just a matter of time. Keep it rocking, man!
    I also want to say:
I was born with a really, really bad stutter, a severe case of ADD, deformed back.
I was never meant to lift more than 10kg, talk fluently or doing focused work on anything, given from birth, for the rest of my life.
I practice speech, in front of a mirror as a kid. I looked up to news anchor, because they have a perfect flow of speech, can pronounce almost every word perfectly and that for millions of people to see. It took me years and I got bullied in school for stuttering, but I kept on going and now I can speak pretty clearly, fluent, well articulated.
I had back pain a lot. I was great at sports, but my back held me, well, back. I carefully started lifting weights (talk to a doc before in cases like that and have trainers and professionals look over your technique in the beginning!) and with a higher amount of muscles, they make up for what the spine couldn't handle and now my back isnt a problem anymore and I'm a buff guy with a lot more strength than the average man.
I trained focusing on things: I played difficult games while simultaneously watching something else on another monitor (often common for most folks out there, but a damn challenge of the gods themselves for me), I played chess, I read books. I integrated routines, that became habits, catered towards a state, in which my ADD doesn't matter that much anymore and customized my workflow with it.
I informed myself on the subject and take some supplements (Omega 3, Vitamins, Gingko, Ashwagandha) and im doing fine with it now. Not completely gone, but 85% better.
Shit, I've seen a guy with no legs playing drums, holding the sticks between his toes, blind people shred on guitar and people with crippled hands being rock solid multi instrumentalists.
    Whoever is reading this:
Don't give up. Things will take a while, but good stuff that should last, often needs time. You have time. It might not be your fault for how things are, but it's your fault if it stays that way. Make it work.
You can do it. Be persistent, smart, patient and you will. Become better with every single step. Find knowledge - find ways. You will be shocked how much shit can be overcome.

In a personal note I actually started playing guitar around 6 years ago, despite being a drummer since childhood, after moving to a new country and being alone without things to do, friends and a band. Watching you and ola really made me try that and nowadays this quick lifeboat of a hobby became part of who I am and writing songs and playing around is my fav kind of meditation. I'm saying this so you know that your success can influence plp and your positive impact in plp is amazing :)

So let's just say that right now, in my current place in the world, my current situation, I feel like absolute shit every single day and I will change that. hey dude i think i know what you're talking about, however it was said in context to prove a point. Seeing them as in they have gone on deployments didn't make it back. I have seen several friends go and not make it back.

You seem like a good dude. Pretty good guitar player, not really my thing but i watch the review videos and you do a good job at it. You just gotta make that step to the REAL dark side and get into some old school Death Metal!
