LUCK.!!! I will be honest, it was Kelly “Dimes and Vinnie’s sister” who saw us in 97’, brought Vinnie over, we partied at his bar Club House, we got a spot in Hells Half Acre Fest and signed by Maverick! Yes our music was great but that one lucky night got our CD to the right place, time & person
your bands name?
@@BIGFESHya I wanna know too
Man, love your approach and honesty. Whoever thinks you are bragging needs to check his/her own insecurities. Keep it up!
I've been trying to up my game on promoting myself and my music. I just dropped an EP of ambient guitar on Spotify and a bunch of streaming services. It's been rough, but I just have to keep on keepin on with putting my music out there. Been watching your channel for a long time Ray, love the videos, and you seem like a really cool down to earth dude🤟😎
Who are you and what’s your EP named? I would’ve checked it out but who the hell are you?
@JH-ks9oi I'm a texas artist myself! What's your style of promotion? Are you affiliated with Third String Prod.?
@@JH-ks9oi My EP is called The Part 1. It's under the name Hawaiian Shirt Guy. The EP is like ambient guitar, stuff you can chill out too. I got some metal stuff I've been working on as well, it's not released yet.
Amazing advice to people trying to break into the business. What you said make a whole lot of sense!
Dude, great video and great advice. But also, just as importantly: you’re new environment in the room and background looks sick as fuck. Like the whole time I’m watching I can’t get over it. Lol
Always enjoy your content man, you’re absolutely killin it in 2024! 🖤
As someone whose going on their first tour for 2 weeks in october this video was perfect. Wise words XRC
Great video Bro! Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to make this. I, and I'm sure many other people will appreciate this! Good information.
Thank you bro I appreciate you explaining how to market yourself it’s gonna be a lot of help
Thanks, Xander! As a bassist AND guitarist, this is a video I needed!
I like this guy. Keeping going bro!
Great way to breakdown this topic into 2 easily digestible concepts! Great video dude!
Excellent video! It truly shows how passion and hard work pays off in the end. You’re crushing it dude. Keep it up!
Such a good video, thank you! I remember you replied to my comment awhile ago, made my day thank you.
I believe that originality is the key if you can make something that doesn't sound like others you can make it in the music business. It's more about that than talent.
banger video dude🔥🔥🔥
People today care way too much about what other people think. Just be yourself. Originality will shine through.
Do you have any proof to back that up? Or are you just making a blanket statement? Unfortunately in my opinion originality alone doesn’t get you very far
Caribbean viewer here!!
The "why should anyone care" question is so accurate and important for any content creater. Also for anything academic
Great video and very good advice. Pleasure meeting you at Reggie's in Chicago through our mutual friend Ed Kost on your FTFD run last fall.
Make themselves happy.
Ray, one thing to consider is the bands that are playing every weekend at the same bar, may be doing it because they do it for a living and they need the money! Back in the mid 80's to early 90's (before the good ol' internet) I played in bands both professionally and semi professionally traveling the upper midwest. 1986 there was only 28 days I didn't play a gig. I loved playing, but i also needed the money, as at that time I was playing for my living. The internet has changed those days dramatically, and I feel kinda sorry for those now days that will never experience traveling with your band mates in an old school bus and humping Hammond Organs, Leslie cabinets, and SVT bottoms up stairs to a second floor gig. Rock on!
wise advices
Where you at Ray, cool background
Straight facts; all the way through. This shit ain't no hobby.
so far, I got a neon orange guitar, I think thats a good start
Pretty much the only way to get signed or make it is to have a massive following on instagram or youtube etc otherwise youre lost in the mix of 10k other great guitarists. Best thing i ever learned from a professional musician was skill does not equate to a great song that you can sell. Some of the best songs ever made were written with very simple parts. But they were different, or chatchy or whatever you know.
I love your riffs! And I kinda thought the bubble gum was what you'd be known for.
I wish someone could teach me how to make drum tracks / bass tracks to play guitar on
Get ezdrummer. It's super simple once you get the hang of it and it will really happy you get the hang of midi drums. Also henning Paulie last I checked had a great midi drum course. That and there's 1000s of videos on youtube. But in my experience trying to program drums while writing kills the inspiration or can kill a session. That's why I said check out ezdrummer. You can come up with a riff or melody and if you have an idea in your head search on ezdrummer and boom you can use that to keep the inspiration going etc
What is up Bro are you a jim Root fan🤘🇺🇲🇺🇲🤘
Yea making a video with Jim root definitely did not hurt making 10s of 1000s find him who wouldn't.
You really just compare your “success”to 1982 Motley Crue? 😂 Than rant to people telling them not to be arrogant or a douche 😂 oh Stay Metal Ray
lol like he said, people love to twist his words. He literally didn’t even come close to saying that hahahaha
where is the humble guy that started this channel? now that you have a small toure on your resume you sudenly became mr. Know it all.... you are loosing with that attitude mr!!!! Stop saying what people have to do... you are not that guy.....
He’s offering tips and suggestions to musicians, not telling them what to do. He’s not losing anything. Kindly take your condescension somewhere else. And maybe watch the video again without all of your faulty assumptions and predictions; you might learn something.
He really has a cringey d-bag aura to him
@@markiszak first of all who are you to tell me what to do...??? if you had followed this channel you would have seen that he has changed a lot.. and it's not about content it's about the way of being .. if he is so happy to be in this situation then show it.. all I'm saying is that I liked his attitude better before. and that he loses me as a sub and I think more people feel the same... great that he gets to experience his dreams but be humble, if not you lose in the long run... it doesn't help that your music is cool if you come across as a cock
