7-speed DSG Service MK7.5 VW Golf R - HINT: It's different than the MK7 process!

  • I'll bring you along as I perform a fluid and filter change on my 2019 Golf R with the 7-speed DSG. I initially made the mistake of assuming it would be the same process as with the MK7 6-speed DSG, but I quickly found I was wrong. Different amounts and part number for the fluid. Different filter. You have to drain the mechatronic unit separately. Different level setting process.
Don't worry - I'll hook you up with the details!
    Here's the funnel: amzn.to/3A7YthG

One of the rarest video on YT for the change of the 0GC. Accurate, correct and aligned with the official procedure. That change from the high skilled mechanics that want to show how to do, but make it incorrectly ! (Deutsche Auto Part for example). Nothing to say. Thanks. Subbed

They didn’t do it incorrectly though it’s just a different transmission they worked on

It is correct..in the DAP shop video they did not showed the level setting..However i have been watching their videos for a while now..and they know how stuff works VAG related service..I am guessing that they edited that part out rather then forgot to do it.

Thanks for this post. I did my 2019 rabbit gti 7speed today.
I only needed to remove intake pipe and elbow to remove the filter , it’s tight but easily done , since our filter is horizontal it’s a bit messy. I decided on the no turns out on the drain tube , will seee what happens the next 40k 🤟🍺🇨🇦

Excellent post and instructions! I have the DQ381 in my 2019 Audi TTS and I also have the FSM for that vehicle. I've been getting ready to do this and came across this post which really elevated my confidence to be able to do this job and save ~$500 (shop wanted $710). I would like to note that my FSM discusses the Beige vs Red overflow pipe in detail and states if you have a beige pipe "it must be replaced with a red one"...instructions say back off two turns for Beige for correct level or fully seated if Red. BTW, TTS has the battery in the rear of the car which simplifies access to the filter!

    • @LastHumansGarage

good tips my man. i did it today. i had a beige one.. so i didnt replace it with red.. didnt turn it out 2 turns.. but it wasnt leaking out anyway, at 44C... bummer.

  • @ricks4490

Great video. Please be aware the need for loosening the overflow pipe on a Red pipe is not needed. This information is clearly stated in the 2020 service manual for a Skoda Kodiaq for OGC gearbox, which is the most modern manual I could find for this gearbox. I confirmed this information with the master technician at my local Seat dealer before doing the service my Seat Leon Cupra.
The most recent VWmanual i could
find for this gearbox was 2018 and made no mention of the Beige (longer) or Red (shorter) fill pipes.
    Edit:
You can find this manual yourself by searching this "7-speed_dual-clutch_gearbox_0GC 04.2020" and the info is on page 229

Very similar procedure to the DQ500 on the RS3. When I drain the mechatronic unit I often use a piece of cardboard or a moldable funnel to prevent it from shooting fluid all over the wheel arch and wheel liner.

Thanks for the awesome step by step video including manual references!! Really top! I’ve purchased the same set from DAP. My Mk7.5 R 2019 (same as you) seems to have plenty of room to reach into the engine bay for the filter change. I also have the IE Intake and I wonder why going through the trouble to remove the intake and battery tray? Am I missing something as I think I could do it without removing anything. If to remove something, then the intake hose or the battery only would suffice I feel. Do I miss something?

  • @turbojobo

Where can I got the service manual from ?

  • @lhaeger
    @lhaeger 3 дня назад

At 11.25 you tell, regardless of the color of the overflow pipe, the process is the same. NOT CORRECT! Maybe you should get the latest version of the manual (your's was 3,5 yrs old at the time, probably older than the transmission itself. Current is at least 07/2022) or something has been lost in translation, but the German language manual for the DQ381 transmission states: there are different versions of the transmission, which come with differently colored overflow pipes. The beige pipe needs to be screwed out 2 turns, the red one must be screwed in all the way, when checking the oil level. Two turns are equavalent of 3mm oil level. If you do it wrong either way, you miss the much oil or overfilled by that much. Is it critical? Maybe those how followed your advise wrongly can comment on that...

Yes it is. Very strange filter positioning almost as if it wouldn't want to be serviced..anyway..i have been searching for months a video of "how to"..getting back to the question...oil service interval is 120000 km...and lifetime oil filter..which crazy...i would recommend 60000 km and each time get a new oil filter.👍
