  • Here are some interesting facts about this forgotten six-figure flagship, the Lexus LS 600h L. This sedan was the most powerful V8 Hybrid in the world when it initially came out, but at a $120,000 starting price, was it worth it? See my Lexus GS F video here: • 2016-2020 Lexus GS F.....

Fortunate owner of an Ls600hl 2016 model with executive package from UAE. Super rare find. Bought it in 2021 for usd 40k. Hybrid battery needed replacement. Over last 3 years replaced hybrid battery, control arms - cost usd10k . Cosmetic stuffs - ceramic coating, tinting, painted break callipers red - usd3k, consumable expenses over 3 years- new 4 tyres, new break pads, cabin filter, engine flush - 2k.
I love my car to bits. It drives like a dream... You look forward to long journeys. It comes with a comfort mode only available in this model... Basically for wafting.Acceleration is effortless even at high speeds of 140 kmph. Fully loaded with Gizmos.. InfraRed camera for night time driving, driver monitoring, break hold function, double panel glasses,
automated curtains, entertainment TV and massage chairs for the back seat. It even has foldable tables forthe back seats like in an aircraft. Only regret... Not being able to spend time in the back seat - that's where the real fun is... Car is not suitable for families with small kids, from the back seat you can control the entertainment and radio and from the driver side you can't overrule this. One time I was on the highway fast track at 140khph and the rear right tyre burst.. I could feel the benefit of the AWD, car remained super stable and remained in the lane and safe my life.!

Agreed, the 2008 LS600hL is a nice and very responsive ride on the highway. I purchased mine about a year and a half ago after looking at numerous 460's. Aside from some of the maintenance issues I had to resolve after purchase I'm very happy with it. This is my 3rd Lexus vehicle now. I think the hybrid qualities basically just make it a more powerful and more responsive ride overall while getting about the same mpg as the 460. To me it's a nice addition to have I didn't really buy it for the mpg anyway. Thanks for the review I enjoyed it very much!

@@dibaz1 Well, to start with the vehicle had just under 100k miles on it when I got it. I had to replace the front air shocks due to the upper support bushings being cracked, worn and noisy. That was the main thing. As the vehicle has a transfer case with a clutch pack it had some chatter and vibration during slow turns. This was remedied by changing the transfer case oil a few times and using synthetic oil with an additive purposed for limited slip differentials. I changed all the oils in the vehicle and decided to go with Amsoil products for all the lubricant oils needed. So far so good 👍.

    Very interesting video.
I currently have a pre-facelift 460 L RWD and love it but my wife is going to be learning to drive and I'm just not comfortable with her driving a RWD vehicle in the snow as a new driver, especially one this long. But she really likes this car and wants it when I get a new car. So I am planning to step up to a facelifted AWD but retain the long wheelbase so I can hand that off to her. Of course I'll still get to enjoy it a lot even if it will be her primary car. :)
I'm just not sure if I want to get the 600h L or a 460 L. Since I am planning to get AWD and want a long wheelbase anyway, both those being standard are positives in my book. And while the MPG may not seem impressive at first, I find getting pretty similar mileage in an AWD L vs my RWD L is a damn good deal. If I buy a 460 L AWD I will definitely see a loss in fuel economy but not if I get the 600h L
That CVT though.. that's what makes me want to just stomach the loss in MPG for a 460 L AWD.

    • @gureno19
      @gureno19 11 месяцев назад +1

I drove one today, it's not a CVT as you may know it. It's an ECVT on a planetary set of gears so it doesn't have that rubber band feeling of a horrible CVT.
The plus side of the ECVT is the LS600 essentially sits at idle speed on the hwy, around 1000rpm, which adds to its quiet ride.

I think if they tried this again with more modern hybrid tech the may have been able to reach their fuel economy and performance goals with this car. Kinda surprised that it could only achieve several mpg more in the city than a non-hybrid, that just seems very strange. Generally the same hybridized engine can easily achieve 5-10 more mpg in the city.

The problem with Lexus in general is that when you can afford any Lexus model brand new, there are also other and usually a lot more tempting options out there in same price range. People who lease them dont care about post-warranty reliability.
When it comes to second hand market, thats when their strengths start to make lot of sense.
But second hand market does not profit manufacturer.
Its kinda good that second hand buyers have such a solid brand to rely on but also kinda sad. Its sad because lack of demand brand new car segment will force them to make less of them and thats why second-hand buyers will have less options in future.
For example I would love second hand Lexus GS but they stopped making them because they didnt compete with German sedans brand new.

I wanted SO BADLY to like the '16 LS460 I drove, and came away...unimpressed? The driver's space is surprisingly cramped (at 5'10" I shouldn't be wanting for headroom but...here we are) and the seat wasn't at all comfortable. It's a shame, too because on paper it seems like a no-brainer.

What? I own both an LS430 and LS460 and I can say for a fact they the 460 beats the 430 on interior space, including headroom. I literally just did a comparison between the two vehicles two minutes ago when I read your post because it took me aback.
I'm 6 ft tall and in my 430, I can't turn my hand sideways between my head and the roof. In my 460, I can completely put my hand between my head and the roof with it turned sideways and my fingers and thumbs spread.
I have the long wheelbase version so comparing rear space obviously isn't fair, but I feel like I can spread my legs way more in the front seats than in my 430. I don't think there is a difference in leg room for the front occupants between the long and standard wheelbase for 460 but I feel like I have more frontal legroom as well in the 460.
Honestly, I can't get over just how spacious and huge the interior of the 460 feels compared to the 430. I often find myself just looking around the cabin while driving and marveling at how much room I have. The 430 is definitely roomie inside but the 460 feels so much larger inside even just looking at it. It honestly adds so much to the feeling of isolation from the outside world. It really does feel like I'm in my own world in this car versus my 430.
