Toyota4Life this is a very well crafted car but it’s no bargain for sure. I have a 2013 LS460L and it’s stupid for Toyota to charge the extra $30k over the regular LS460. I’m glad they fix the suspension and control arm issue on the 08-11 LS. It would be a huge money pit to fix the LS control arm issue.

@@ryannrjohnson The LS 600h has eCVT transmission. There are no actuators powered by oil pressure. There are no clutches. Everything is mechanically connected all the time. The transmission a.k.a. eCVT transaxle has flush type lubrication. No pressurized oil. Non-hybrid Lexus LS models have conventional transmission. In those, when the transmission has been driven beyond a certain point, changing the fluid is not recommended as the tiny metal particles floating in the fluid help provide the necessary pressure for the transmission to work correctly and without which there might be slippage.
Here's an explanation of an eCVT transaxle used in a RAV4, which works exactly the same as the Lexus LS transaxle.

They will turn on again when you start the vehicle. You can program the time that they stay on upon exiting in the vehicle settings menu. I have a 2007 IS350, 2010 GX460’ & a 2011 IS F. Bruh I drive an X5 and an earlier 7 series. X5 door soft touch close failed on one door, electronic park brake failed, hvac failed, things are starting to fail, only with 70k miles. 7 series is faring better. But both have the awful BMW v8’s and dealer has detected an oil leak in the 7’s engine 😂

    • @d1sturb3d119
      @d1sturb3d119 4 года назад +11

@@rajkirannatarajan9276 Saddest part is that these aren't issues caused by engineers. Rather issues caused by telling engineers they don't have the time needed to test and solve these issues. It's all about selling features.
This is all a business problem. Some dumbass in the company believes selling junk is what keeps them ahead so they sell junk in general and folks end up leasing these cars. That's the business model these days.
I mean look at the BMW M3 CS. 98k sticker for an M3... No one buys that, they just lease, wait till lease is up and get rid of the car, while the dealership then tries to make money on the residual value. Over the few years that the car is on the road, the dealership still makes its money from leases, repairs and finally sells these cars to some shady dealership or it gets sent off as a used consignment.

then you show how you got a custom android on your 2008 LS , it's been one of my biggest turn offs in recent years to see so much locked-down technology in new cars.

To be fair, the suspension on the LS and GS and RX cars are ALL under engineered in that they do seem to need attention early in life. My 2007 GS300 needed new dampers before 60K miles and my heavier RX450h has had 3 of the 4 control arms and bushes replaced sub 40K miles. For some odd reason they have under estimated wear on these parts but they are heavy vehicles. Lexus do though cover the costs under warranty for all cars up to 10 years old.

Here in New Zealand the LS is quite common in comparison to Switzerland as we get all the second hand right hand drive imports from Japan. If I compare the cost of owning a German car to a Lexus, the Lexus would always be a winner. I personally feel the German brands these days are designed to last a certain (less) amount of time. The Lexus on the other hand is designed and engineered for extreme comfort and reliability first and performance second. The only item that generally needs replacing is suspension parts which isn’t that bad considering you can get 100,000 plus km out of some of the components. Once you spend this sort of money, you won’t need to change bits every 50k kilometres. The Lexus brand is remarkably. I am considering buying a LS600HL soon.

I absolutely love my 2013 LS460 it’s at the very beginning of the new spindle grille so it’s got presence but it’s not over the top it’s still classy and the interior is absolutely one of my favorite parts about the car the older LS460 has a good interior but it’s missing some of the design pizzazz that the 2013+ LS lineup has.. one thing that you did note was the remote touch interface, its not that bad I’ve used it for a little over a year now and even when I first bought my car it was simple and easy to use like a computer mouse.. the reason behind it was to get a higher quality screen and to place it where it wouldn’t be flushed out in the sunlight but in order to do such back then they had to cover it substantially which made it difficult to reach for most so they went with the mouse system… no matter what year of LS you get it’s gonna be great unless you buy a 460 from the year range where the control arms were an issue but other than that you have a solid car

Just leave your headlights in the on position. The headlights turn off when you push the key fob lock switch twice or they turn off after a certain amount of time. At least in the USDM LS thats how it works.

Congrats on your purchase...and the detailed video... I do have a 09 lexus ls460 myself which I bought about 3 months ago... With only 90k km mileage... But due to Malaysia's horrible road conditions and humid tropical weather.. I had much more things to change, such as front brake pads, all spark plugs and plug seals, high pressure fuel pump gaskets, water pump and gaskets, auto trans oil seal and engine crank shaft seals, atf filter , gaskets, wire hareness connectors change and complete fluid transfusions, total cost about rm7100, which is about usd 1.69k...but I still need to sort out control arm bushes etc.. Nonetheless it is still a wonderful car and I do intend to keep it long term..

Hi Mario, Nice video; I just subscribed. I have a 2007 LS 460L and have had to do some of these repairs, I have a local independent mechanic who works on all our vehicles and together we figure out what to do, he has had no problem taking anything apart, as in replacing suspension arms, and I have had spark plugs and all fluids replaced, we have had the car for about five years, now it has about 88K miles total on it. My repair costs were about $4k the first year with everything, ( fluid changes, plugs, front suspension arms etc...) each future year being about $ 300.00 so I am happy about that.

Hi Mario. LS600hl 2007 owner from Geneva. Good review. I'm very interested in the Japanese supplier you mentioned as I'm seriously thinking of replacing the front control arms on mine. It's got only 85k km but previous owner was in a snowy canton that uses a lot of salt so there's a premature wear. This is my second 600h, the first one was short wheel base from 2008 just like yours. On tinted windows, I can't speak to the climate in Switzerland but if your in the American South tinted windows are enjoyable and for some a requirement. Having the front windows tinted helps so much in the summer. The car's interior is cooler when left in the sun and is cooler if just out driving on a hot day. When driving and the sun is up it doesn't get in your eye (from the side). It allows the peasant blockers to be more effective at blocking light/people from shining/seeing in.
Another thing we enjoy about tinted windows is that it makes it harder for would be thieves from checking on any valuables that may be left in the open. It reduces damage in the interior that comes from the sun's UV days. And if your glass becomes shattered for any reason the film keeps the glass from going everywhere. It will keep the glad together.
And if you want to remove the film, the glue will come off with isopropyl alcohol. If the film is the same that's used in the US.

Probably a video would be better than writing all this for you Mario. That’s suspension work as you said will last. 200,000 km but your roads are very twisty and up-and-down and your winters are harsh. Why don’t you get a winter vehicle, the one I think is really cool is that Infinity 2017 QX 80, it’s unique and prestigious.
I had a 92 LS400, kept it for five years and then sold it to my friend. I had only put on 1500km from the 96km Purchase date. (Pre owned). The replacement, LS 340 ultra premium luxury package. Off white coloured interior Light gray burled wood. Midnight Jade outside, which is a beautiful emerald green in the sunshine. My friend drove the 92 LS400 until it was 20 years old with 475,000 km all that was ever worked on, one new ball joints in the front right (brake pads and rotors once) The stainless steel muffler was in perfect condition as was the system however the brake lines rusted out. The engine was perfectly running. My friend didn’t want to spend $2000 for the new brake lines. The v8 was put into another car, who knows what by the mechanic Who sold my friend a Toyota Corolla LOL. I tested putting our Loony, a Canadian hexagonal dollar coin on the engine while it was running, it did not fall over, wow 475,000 KM. The the dealership perform this for you when you bought the car new. I’m still running my LS 430 which needed some new mufflers. We live in Canada, they had a problem because the aluminum heat shield was touching a composite metal of the muffler housing thus corroding the contact spots. Only $600 for new custom shape pipes and two mufflers, they work great and are quiet. Lexus parts were $2200 Canadian. The LS 430 does not like the winter LOL. The back end is too light. But the car is flawless, I love it. Then one lovely day following my incessant Internet searching, an LS 460 L AWD was for sale at my old Lexus dealership. I bought it,, 120,000 KM, the car was 30 K dollars. Which I thought was a lot it’s a 2010. But I wanted it. Like you, I needed it, it would turn my world into paradise. It was a hard to find combination as I knew from searching and only 100 km away from my home. So you did well for your 600 price all in with your front end work. I saw the original purchase price for my Lexus at the dealership, it came from Montreal and it priced out at $140,000 Canadian. The 600s were more maxed out. The price of my car is comparable in the United States. So why was it so high, 2017 bought. This car has the ultra premium luxury package with the ottoman in the rear seat and the TV between the seats. Of course it has all the other features. I don’t like the executive package because you’ll lose their third seat in the back. My car is a bright silver I forget the name sorry, the interior is a pale gray with a Burrell gray maple. The car is appointed in a lovely manner because the trim, the doors, the carpet and the leather are also similarly toned. It’s the most cohesive tonally, other than the ubiquitous funereal black. I do prefer the colour of your seats however. My favourite is the alabaster. I haven’t spent money on my LS 460. It was immaculately maintained and went through an extensive inspection before Lexus sold it. I had them throw in brand new Lexus mats. Of course pre-Covid As Canadians we travel to the US lots, though a hiatus was incurred while the moron was in power. In the US many people order their Lexus with chrome wheels and they’re beautiful you have a beautiful car. spend some money on better wheels! For $400 Canadian you could have all those black wheels sandblasted, re-coated with the silver or the white of your car and then they are Clear-coated. I did it for my LS 430 they look magnificent. Every time I get in the car wow,,,, do it. It looks brand new. For years I looked at the sloppy wheels LOL. And get the bumpers painted spend the money. You do have the best car in the world. I had a neighbour with a seven series BMW and every four year he had the bumpers repainted to keep the car looking brand new. You’re a cool dude, I’m in love with Lexus like you. I didn’t sell my LS 430 because I read so many reports from men who in hindsight were disappointing when they traded their LS 430 for the 460. ?, why not have both. 😇 ha ha. I will keep my cars. I’ll be looking for a home with a three car garage. As I’m thinking about that Infiniti QX 80 2017. The say it looks like a hippopotamus in the front, how cool is that. Had a 2000 Mercedes. E430, 4Matic. $101,000 brand new. $20,000 warranty work in the first year by the dealership. Then five years in, no Warranty. Many things kept breaking, it was a lemon.I was afraid to drive the car. So I had a Mercedes it reached seven years old while I had replaced it with the used Lexus. That only lasted for two years. The Lexus was smoother, quieter, more refined and reliable. However, only rear wheel drive. I sold the Mercedes for $10,000. I was so relieved. The dealership was a total rip off, commonly scamming customers to make money on service. The more you research on RUclips the more you become aware. Best of luck Mario. Glad to have discovered your channel. P.S. drove the LS 430 in 2015 to Florida, 2700km, Only stop for gas, 26 hours, 700 km per tank, five passengers. That was something else. Left Toronto at -17 C. Fort Lauderdale Florida, 88°F 80% humidity, Where is the pool.

    Dear Swiss Guy.
I have a LS460 on Air suspension and the Lexus Tech has diagnosed the front upper control arms bushings are failing.
Like you I considered getting them done at Lexus (£3000), or getting the bushings replaced (no one willing to do it).
I stumbled across the Febest replacements as an affordable option.
How are yours getting on? Is the ride stiffer? Did your mechanics struggle to fit?
They almost look too cheap to be any good. I will only be driving the car 3000 miles a year, and will sell in a couple of years, so don't need them to last forever but I don't want to ruin the ride.
P.S. I have the same interior spec as you, albeit without the extended leather.
    Thanks.
    John

Used to have SC400 way back. Still love the car, years after I sold it. Lexus pamper and cuddles you like a fateful butler, always there for you, always trying to please. Yes it is not as sporty or as edgy as the German brands but it gives only 10% and those are the 10% that you can only experience at the track. And who would take a car like this one to the track. To me Lexus is one of the best value cars. Enjoy your car. You belong in a group of people who know something that a lot of other car owners don't.
