Best car on the planet, I love my 08, no body roll with the active stabilizer bars and the hybrid battery is so pimp, you can just sit in the car and chill without the motor running.
Alex, your reviews are the best I've seen due to the level of detailed information and the comparisons you draw with similar vehicles in the same class. Keep up the excellent work and thank you for responding to viewer comments.
With out any doubt; that Lexus reliability and quality means this car is worth every dollar. It is targeting Mercedes Benz between the S550 and the Maybach.
The S-Class in 2013 is 19.8 cubic feet with an additional 2.6 cubic feet under the floor and useable for storage. That is significantly larger than the LS.
In a few months yes. When this video was recorded the McLaren P1 had not entered production. Although I'm not sure I'd call that a real production car since they claim they will only ever make 375 cars period over the course of 2-3 years. The Porsche 918 is going to be a very, very early 2015 model by all indications.
I have a 2015 LS 600hL and my dashboard de-lamented - faulty installation from Lexus. Mine is garaged with 51K miles. Lexus did nothing to correct the problem and replacement cost were - honestly - 16K for new dashboard and 2.5K to install. So I had is re-wrapped and a restoration shop in Denver for 3K. What I also did was legally tint the front windshield to eliminate the UV rays. Disappointed that Lexus did not stand behind their mistake. I want to share my story with all Lexus owners.
Hi Alex, I very much enjoy watching your informative video reviews and very much like your opinions on the vehicle's competition. One small note I would recommend, can you try not to shoot the vehicle's exterior videos using wide angle. The wide angle really distorts the vehicles exteriors dimensions. It seems you are shooting at 24mm (18mm on crop sensors)....try more around 50mm or higher if your wireless microphone can allow it. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
For Lexus this would not be possible. It's not a true CVT, the transmission is the hybrid system and it just "acts like" a CVT. Delete that and it wouldn't be a hybrid anymore. In the review I did mention the system, and I find the smooth driving nature of it compatible with the LS600's mission in the same way that the similar system in the GS450h is at odds with the mission.
It would make all the difference if Lexus would improve the design of it's flagship model, say more Rolls Royce than Mercedes Benz in design would help a lot. Then the weight and other foibles can be seen in a more noble eye. Mr Dykes is an exceptional presenter! Have him do every car and we'd all be best informed.
Alex, i like your reviews. Very clear, objective presentation of the facts. Good analysis and i like that you bring up background content Your shows make some of the other shows with their light weight content and prejudices look like a comedy. Please could you do a review on the Lexus GS? I would like your perspectives on the same. Keep up the good work.
We'll insert a note in the video to reflect these number. My apologies on this. The S-Class was foremost in our minds at the moment. The 2014 S-Class retains extra cargo room under the load floor that is also not factored into the 16 cubic feet, the 7-series does the same thing as well making both larger overall than the LS but the A8 and XJ are certainly smaller.
Marshmallow! Love em. That's why I chose a used 2009 Lexus RX 350 rather than any newer "sport" suv. Wife and I were considering the Mazda cx-9 but that drove too stiff for us. Yeah, we like marshmallow rides.
Fairly comprehensive review although no mention was made of the transmission, which in my view is the biggest weakness of this vehicle. When will Lexus drop the horrendous cvt transmission?
Always like your reviews Alex. I'm not sure I would have focused the review mostly as if anyone who buys the car will be a passenger and not driver. And I say that because you didn't review the layout of the instrument panel (as you typically do).
How hard was it to get out of the back seat? Looks like a great car to sleep in, though if you were driving in one you probably wouldn't be doing all too much car sleeping.
You could get a maxed out Tesla Model S for far less and it will be faster, get more mpge, and have a larger touch screen. So who is buying this again?
Sitting in your dealership for hours whilst your vehicle is being diagnosed regularly and being quoted high priced German parts is not a luxury.Buy Lexus, problem solved
Probably worth 20K now..in 2020. These LEXUS got no resale value no matter all those lux. Not a good investment brand new. . Worth buying pre owned you will get a steal of a deal. Just wait it out and keep a lookout. Toyota owned.. made in Japan. Toyota makes great cars. You can't go wrong. This is just a glorified Toyota camry...with a L on the front grill.
This is definitely NOT a glorified Camry. Having owned both, I can say the plush interior, extra comfortable seats, sound isolation and smooth drive is nothing compared to a Camry.
@@cannonball21 ...it is what it is...just a Camry with all the extra bells and whistles...with a heavy price tag when brand new. Absolutely no resale value..
Disagree. You're part of why cars ride so poorly now. Most people want comfort over sport as most of us don't drive like stupid teenagers. As to price, are you kidding? Name another 135k car this well equipped with this luxurious a backseat WITH THE SAME RELIABILITY 😝
That is not the most expensive sedan in the world , you have the Mercedes s65 AMG 240,000 and the BMW B7 which is 140 - 160,000 then that might come in 3 place
Its just way far too much. All credit to Toyota but its just way too over the top. Its trying to incorporate a cinema, a massage parlour, a family room with sky lite & solid timber flooring. Its no longer a motor car its becoming a mobile condo Whats needed is a grass roots basic car without all this crap
New car bumpers are a joke. They protect nothing...are easily damaged and cost a fortune to replace since they don't "fix" them. The bumpers have become the entire front of the car. Remove it, and all you have left up front is the hood. Bumpers used to be there to protect the body of the car...that's what they were designed to do. I am going to wait on buying a Lexus until they come out with more options. The hundreds they come with now are just not enough for me. $130,000? Ridiculous.
This is a 2013 model, please tell me how a 2013 s class, a 2013 7 series or a 2013 A8 beats this in any world in terms of luxury and tech? Don't go comparing this with the newer gen Bmw 7 series and Merc S class. Compare apples to apples not oranges.
Just checked consumer reports, these cars have nearly a perfect reliability score. Even the 2013 years at almost 10 years old. YOU CAN’T BEAT A LEXUS.
This Lexus LS600 will still reign the road while all the other cars you mentioned are resting and polluting our environment at the junk yard
one thing you forgot to mention is the lexus reliability is at the top in the industry.
+Pieter Vonk Noordegraaf No. Aidi a8, bmw 7 or Jaguar XJ aren't reliables.

Excellent review. But lexus reliability is key. Not mentioned.

I'll see what can be done, the issue we frequently have is space so we usually shoot at around a 28mm equivalent.
Great points - had no idea...thought they were both in production. You win on the internet today! :)
What Lexus needs to do is to reduce the weight considerably, and add more horsepower on this vehicle. Then, it makes more sense.
Its geared for performance not gas savings
As soon as we can get our hands on one. We're greasing the palms now.

It's a genius CVT, pretty damn awesome how Lexus set up the 2 electric motors for CVT.
I'll see what I can do about the GS. Any particular flavour?
