Julia empowered me last summer to try free motion. I practiced for 10 minutes a day most days for 6 weeks. For the first 2 weeks of 10 minutes I needed tranquilizers AND wine. Advance 6 weeks and I am the expert lol. I urge you JUST START, laugh at yourself and be open to learning like a child does. Good luck, you can do it. Hugs Kate
The thing I like about you, Julia, is the way you use "used" materials. Right up my alley. We, as a society, waste waaaaay too much. Thank you for going the extra mile for our beautiful ❤️ planet. Keep on fighting the good fight 💪!!
Hello from North Wales UK. A great way to use scraps and lovely memories too. I made a square and cut shapes out to use on greeting cards. 40 years ago I worked at Laura Ashley and still have ready cut quilting squares, love using them, happy memories. Talk care Julia
Hi Julia, What a clever lady, coming up with your iron on appliqué. I thought I'd seen everything until I watched you make that scrappy heart ! I'll need to make a sample, just so I can embed this in my mind. Thanks so much.
Hi Phyllis, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I hope I explained it well enough. It's a bit confusing putting glue on the adhesive side but once you do it, it makes more sense. I hope you are doing well- Fall is in the air.... Julia
Flannel shirt is just the coolest thing. Wish you would show us more about altering clothing.....and what lace is that??? Just gorgeous!! Have a wonderful week ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Hi Julia - I hope you are doing well. Love the fabrics and the way you had them slanted. So pretty. We’ve been having more rain. So ready for some dry days! We are still seeing more new cases every day. Stay safe. Love &Hugs! 💕🤗
Hi Pam, We are starting to have a "Fall" feeling in the air. Summer has flown by, but I am looking forward to having 2020 in the past:) 2021 has to be better! Stay safe and sane. Happy sewing, Julia

@@madhattersoriginal6258 Great idea. In the case of free motion, I might follow your wine lead. I wrote 3" or so sized words in my own handwriting on a quilt long ago without tracing the letters and it came out great. Then I tried smaller free motion meandering on a practice sandwich. Instead of curving squiggles, I got angles. And quit. Would be fun to do squares into a sampler to show progress over 6 weeks.
@@carolg.6838 I art journal so I stuck mine in a daily 'thoughts to me from me" art journal. I got SO stressed in 2 minutes you have no idea.🤣🤣. I bought a pair of gloves from Amazon for about $6 because I found it hard on my wrists and hands. I don't need them now but at first when I was so tense, they gripped the fabric wonderfully. I Would love to hear how you progress 🙂 Hugs Kate.
Hi Julia. Try stamping your rubber stamp images on a piece of fun foam. The padding will help get a better impression. Also, for stamping on muslin your stamp has got to be super juiced up with ink. You might need to buy reinkers to juicy up your ink pads. Just a tip from a long-time rubber stamper. ☺️🧡☺️
Loved this project and will try it it out as i have loads of scraps and always looking for great ways to use them up...thank you for sharing this . GOD bless all Gilly wife of Mark in Norfolk UK
Love this, I have loads of scraps ( all quilters will get this ) I’m going to have a try, I do find it difficult to do scrappy in my quilts but these look fabulous. Thank you I’ve found my lockdown 3 projects.
Hi Julia, So sweet! I slowed way down this summer. Staying home is getting to me and usually I keep myself fairly busy, but I took some time off. I love everything you come up with. You’re so talented. Hope your enjoying your shop on the weekends.. summer is flying by isn’t it. Take care, Chris-Raleigh NC
Hi Chris, Hang in there! I know how hard it has been. I am really grateful for you my weekend shop. It is a piece of normalcy in this craziness. The only difference is, everyone has masks on and I am only set up outside under my canopy:) Take care of yourself, Julia
ẞo I thought about this glue technique and I am very excited to use this. Seriously, what a great idea and honestly not something I would have thought of. Once again, you have shown something truly unique and fun. I am very motivated to use this on a number of projects. Thank you so much.

Hi Tracey, Yes the open toed embroidery foot works the same. You may have gotten the wrong foot for you machine. Machines either have a short or high shank. Hope this helps, have fun with it! Julia

Sewing through the school glue doesn’t gum up or clog the sewing machine and/or its needle? I so want to try this out. Thanks for another great video!
I have never had a problem with gumming. Make sure the glue is dry before you sew. Happy creating! Julia
