A suggestion to help avoid burning thins with your little clover iron, is to use a coffee mud as a stand for it. Mugs are heat proof theyare just the right size for those mini irons.
Just what I was needing. I was looking for a better way to make a butterfly for my apples and worms quilt. Now, all I have to do is make a line drawing for the butterfly and use my scraps. This is a wonderful idea. Plus, it is also a great was to use up more of my scraps. Thank you.
Hi Nancy I know this is probably a video made a while ago I happened to stumbled across this great tutorial about your clover mini iron is better to keep it in a mason jar at all times keep you & your sewing notions rulers safe 💕 great video 🥰
Just watched you for the first time. Very much enjoyed your presentation. Retired seven years ago after teaching Family and Consumer Science (formerly known as Home Economics) for 36 years in PA public schools. Appreciate the variety of techniques you included in this video. Interrupted my watching to seek and find the Cat Tales fabrics. Subscribed and plan to watch more of you in the future.
I love this method! I hate using heat and bond lite and after fusing, it starts wrinkling or coming unstuck. It looks so messy on my large appliqués. I wish I had seen this before attaching my appliqué shapes on my recent project. I also like that you used straight stitching on the edges. Trying to keep my blanket stitch looking neat is very hard for me. ThankYou sew much for this video!
Just found you. Love Love Love you and this dog applique quilt. I am dying to try this. Thanks fir making it seem so easy. I am subscribing right now. ❤💕
When doing paper piecing or doing applique like you are doing I like to use 'tear and wash' stabilizer. It's nice and firm to work with but when laundered in turns into a nice soft thin batting. Love it. I buy mine from Allstitch
Of course the cat would lead the way!! LOL Love your technique! Love your black and white background fabrics! I'm crazy about your cat!!! A cheap glue stick would work nice too for tacking applique in place.Your teaching technique is wonderful. It gets the message across and moves along at a good pace. You have inspired me to do this as a cat quilt and not just file the idea away for someday that never comes.
Almost 2021! Hello Nancy. I wonder if you ever watched Wendy from Shiny Happy World? Her method of applique quilting reminded me of what you did today. My brain is atiptoe with how I can blend both methods to make me a fun quilt too! Thanks for sharing your creativity,
This dog quilt so cool! I like all the fabrics you showed us ; so cute! There is a machine that you can change stuff on it fast; it is called : Bernina :) Thank you for the tutorial!
Way too cute!! So happy you popped up on my RUclips "recommended" list today! Subscribed & saved video - my girlfriend is a dog groomer - perfect quilt! Off to go hunt it down, fingers crossed. Don't know about Electric Quilt, but I am confident I will find out! 🤗
I’m making lots of baby quilts these days and these types of animals would make wonderful themes for them! So glad I found you! I liked and subscribed!! 👍🏻
Way too cute! Looking at this on my little phone screen, but it looks like you could just tear away the paper template and sew the already stitched trimmings onto sections of the next block. Just thinking that might speed up production of several blocks.
I'm sure Nancy got fine results, too, but I was thinking the same thing. The typical instructions for the Cut Away type is to cut away that type of stabilizer close to the stitching once stitched. I have used the Wash Away (water soluble) type in the past with great success, and it yields a much softer fabric, once washed.
@@lizday8140 also if you cut out the shape before you start sewing the strips down you then have the option of trimming away excess fabric 1/4 away from the shape and turning the edges so you get applique that doesn't fray.
I love your sense of humor from your Wonder Woman bracelet to your singles ad fabric, you're very funny. Thank you for the stabilizer idea. If you do a very tiny zig zag on the edges will that prevent any fabric fraying for a baby quilt that will be repeatedly washed?
Nancy, I love your tutorials. You cease to amaze me. This looks fairly simple, "meaning the" flip & stitch applique. I am definitely going to give it a try. Thank you very much. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas.
Hi Donna :) - sure a short jar will work. The "paper" is the cut away stabilizer - you can get that at a craft store or an store that sells embroidery machines.
Hint for your iron:. Hang a can along your work space and store the iron on the can instead of laying out where it can burn you or your sewing supplies.

Do you have a chiwawa pattern. I'm really looking for one. This one is so cute. It would match with my traveling bag . Where can I order it. Do you have them on Amazon ?🙏🙏😍
No, sorry. This isn't my pattern, it comes from www.colourwerx.com The other line drawings I showed were all from the Electric Quilt program. This isn't one of my patterns but my other books and patterns are on my website - www.onpoint-tv.com

She says “Aww” 😚
What a fabulous idea and a great use of scraps as well! I am excited to get started trying this!!
Have fun!
Really cute quilt, and enjoyed watching the process. Thank you so much. 👍❤️😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
never heard of the electric quilt so I googled it and oh my, that is neat! some of the quilts in the gallery are stunning
It is a really fun program once you have a little bit of time playing with it - I love it :)
This is so neat! I will try this pattern and your method. Thank you very much !

Hi Roxanna - Nope I have never met or seen Wendy - I'm glad you like it ;)
I'm going to try this with some of my crumb quilt fabrics I have sewn together.
I have 2 Janome machines that change over to FMQ just as fast, has the same type of foot. They have 3 different types of this type of foot. Love them!
Love your ideas. These would look great with multi colors on each dog.
Totally!
missed your live show but have liked and subscribed xx

Elizabeth from Huguenot NY I love this idea. Will have to try it.
Your joke IS funny.....so inspiring, i would pike to make those dogs..my budget won’t allow me to buy patterns, but i can draw....hahha thank you
I would use Wash Away Applique Sheets that way I can print out my design, stitch it like you did and once washed most of it would be gone
I'm sure Nancy got fine results, too, but I was thinking the same thing.

Love this technique❣
Love your technique and love your sewing machine. Lease Telmex what model this is? I’m a huge Pfaff fan. Josephine from Australia
Hi :) - My machine is a Pfaff Performance Icon - I've had it for almost 2 years now and absolutely LOVE it - Nancy
You could put the little iron a quart jar? Where do you get those big sheets of paper? Thanks for sharing this is so cute.
Hi Donna :) - sure a short jar will work. The "paper" is the cut away stabilizer - you can get that at a craft store or an store that sells embroidery machines.
Hello from Alabama and Merry Christmas
Same to you!
Glue... Watered down, slightly, Elemer's school glue also works. Much cheaper. Use it to " baste " my strips, applique pieces.
Merry Christmas

I like your colours. Frede South africa
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great info!!!! Subbed!!! I think if you left a quarter inch outline to fray on purpose it would mimic fur. :)
Great idea :)
Where could I get that little iron thing I’ve never seen it before I did not catch what kind of paper that was you were using my name is Mabel and I’m from Rensselaer New York
Hello. New Jersey
Thank you...fun
Hello! I'm from Jackson MI!!!
I’m down the road in Laurel
In Australia we spell COLOUR
Quick fix for hot...clover mine iron put it in a heavy taller coffee mug stay safe and won't roll around.
I do, just didn't have one there at the moment :)
love this technique. What is the stabilizer paper... where do you get it or can you use regular paper?
It is a cut away stabilizer from Pellon
Colour is the English spelling. Color is American.
Do you have a chiwawa pattern. I'm really looking for one. This one is so cute. It would match with my traveling bag . Where can I order it. Do you have them on Amazon ?🙏🙏😍

When not using your iron but it is on still, leave it in a mug, head down. Regards Alison. X UK
Question for you. Will the tear away or cut away stabilizer ever bubble with washing the quilt?
Not if you quilt it. If you left the whole dog unquilted then I think maybe it would but when the quilting is only an inch apart I can't - Nancy
