- Tonight I go out to camp for the Royal British Legion Charity event for the Great Tommy Sleep Out. My first attempt at a bivvy only camp with no cover. Did I survive? Of course, I am writing this now 😂

I've spent about 80 nights in a Hunka over the last few years, I'm a big fan. I'm always a little wary of curious dogs on their early morning walks. Also wandering cows.
Yes I think being peed on is my biggest fear 🤣 that or a fox eating my face in the night.

I'm doing my Tommy sleep out next weekend in Brecon, military bivi bag. Helps remind me of former times and supporting former comrades who have not been so lucky and most people don't care about....
I know. Fighting for this country doesn't get you as many rights as those you fight against half the time. 😔
That's an interesting flashlight. I like that they separate the flashing modes from the standard ones. I also generally prefer flashlights that start low, then increase in brightness. But I've got two exceptions for that.
The first is specifically for tactical flashlights. Instant-on to high mode is good for self defense, blinding a potential attacker.
The second is for flashlights that don't separate their modes. My favorite light is the Nitecore MT10C. I can't choose to start in white light or red light separately, but it has a memory and returns to the last mode used. So I can just set it to a red mode before heading out to do astronomy or whatever.
I missed out this has a memory function too. Some good ideas there though 👍

I've tried two bivvys, both failed the condensation test so i'll be giving the Hunka XL a go, I love a bivvy camp under the stars!

That's awesome. Glad it worked out this time. I'm waiting for the weather to clear over here before trying my first go. After waiting 6 weeks, I just received the Borah Gear ultralight bivy in wide at 6.4oz. Can't wait to try it. Great video.

@@NoviceWildCamper Near the coast in California. It's been nice but there's a storm rolling through this weekend. I'm kind of tempted to give it a go anyway to test the 7x9 silpoly tarp I ordered along with it, but there's good amount of wind expected along with the rain. I don't want to risk tearing it the first night plus I'm chicken lol.

🤣 sorry, can't chose the damn ads. The moon was out the first part of the night. The vid of me before when I was laying down talking shows how dark it was when the time-lapse started. Problem with nighlapse its really designed for stars in pitch black with zero moon light. You can see how dark it went toward the end when the moon had gone down buy by then the fog rolled in. Shame would have been a great back drop 👍

I did loads of bivvy camping when in the military at times in really shity weather, I've tried to wipe it from my mind but still get the urge to give it another go. Lol

Hay, I’m normally a fan of your vlogs, however on this occasion one thing did peeve me, I understand you were doing this for a great cause however being a veteran myself and suffering from PTSD I thought it was a little insensitive to mention the fact you have jack Daniel’s with you that you were going to polish off whilst sleeping rough, with so many ex services, having to sleep rough and become addicts to drinking just to get through the nights, you could have not mentioned it or cut it, keep soldering on and making better vlogs
Fair comment. I tend to have a jd when I'm camping on most of my videos from a small hip flask but yes I could have just not said that. Apologies.
