    Barney and The Stove Show. Good instruction and thoughts on gear mate.
    Chipolata's looked the bizzo. I'm having a fry up in a minute. Nice cup of cha too. Don't listen to that Catty's chap 😆
    On camera, the colour of that new bivvy looks really good. I think I'll pull the pin and buy me one this year. Fell out of love with my Mil-Tec bivvy. Shame the new bivvy didn't work out and wasn't a "real" one.

      I loved those chipolatas, they were the korkers variety. Cook up really nicely, gonna have to get some more!
      I've just ordered another bivi, got a genuine issue one this time though so it should perform better than the reproduction version that I mistakenly/drunkenly bought. In my experience this far the issue bivi's have been excellent in all conditions.
      Thanks Tim as always for watching and commenting, will have to catch up again soon 👍

    Another great video fellow camper. Great kit set up. I'm in the USA. Do nothing but old school Bushcraft. The Brits make excellent old school oilskin tarps, pouches, ECT. There's a couple people in the states, I've bought off of, but I'll have to say, it's a shame that they don't take the pride that the English Bushcrafters take in making a good product. I would say 85% of my Bushcraft gear is British made. Top quality gear, and worth every penny.

    • @barneysbimbles
      @barneysbimbles  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Loy, Thanks as always for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. I like a bit of variety when camping, sometimes I take the old school wool and canvas kit. Other times it's good to go with more modern kit. Keeping things simple is usually my objective though.
      I always try to celebrate UK crafts, but I do think there are some really good USA/CAN makers. I'd love to have a Tentsmiths tarp in my collection and folks like the Hidden Woodsman make great looking rucksacks. US army surplus kit always looks good too, although it's quite hard to get over here. My favourite camping item to come out of the states though has to be the folding Firebox. They're probably one of the best multi fuel stoves on the market. 👍

      I must admit that it was touch and go at one point with the wind as it was picking up quite a bit through the night. I put a bit of faith in the forecast and the trees around me as I knew they were all in good shape. In that weather though, I wouldn't even dream of camping in some of the other woodlands that I frequent, too much Ash with dieback! 👍

  • @BorderRambler

    Cracking camp Barney, I was pleased to see how much gear you put in that front bag as I have the same one 👍 but I aint used it yet . I think we can all relate to having stove itus 😂 but that little stove really was versatile. Pity about the new bivi Is it for the bin and another British army one (old) to replace it ? Atb Dave

    • @barneysbimbles
      @barneysbimbles  9 месяцев назад +1

      Cheers Dave, that front bag is quite a nice size. I try to keep the kit fairly basic when using the Brommy, but I'm still trying to figure out what system works best for me. I'm tempted to get a slightly larger saddle bag. I've also seen some folk put a rucksack on the rear rack. Plenty of options!
      As for the bivi, the army issue bivi's are pretty cheap so I've just ordered another genuine British army bivi and am going to re-purpose the reproduction one. Might make a pack liner out of it and some pouches?
      Many thanks as always 👍

    Always enjoy your videos Gavin. I like that Honey stove and Pocket stove [ might treat myself lol.] combination especially if you don't want to be clearing up fire scar in the morning. Pity about the bevvy bag mate nothing worse than condensation and getting cold. Look forward to your next video!👍👍

    • @barneysbimbles
      @barneysbimbles  9 месяцев назад

      Cheers John, glad you enjoyed it. I can thoroughly recommend the pocket stove, works a treat with Des' burner. The honey stove, as much as it can be a pain to assemble (particularly with the hive expansion), it's so much lighter than the alternatives and always burns really well. And as you say, easy clean up in the morning too! 👍

    I know you don’t want to carry a lot of weight but a 3 by 3 tarp low like that folded in half and easily flipped into an A frame if it rains or gets windy is worth carrying. You have great gear and videos…Have fun stay safe.

    • @barneysbimbles
      @barneysbimbles  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Ken, funnily enough, I do own a 3x3 tarp and use that when I know the weather is going to be terrible. Sometimes I just prefer to carry a small tarp. The bivvy bag ensures my kit stays dry in the event of any rain blowing in under the tarp. Thanks as always for watching and commenting 👍

    Cracking camp Gavin, cant beat a chilled camp, I haven't used my pocket stove for awhile, will have to dig it out, I have the original version that's in the pocket tin ,it is good, be good to see more of your stoves, never have too many lol, that bike is amazing, never seen one like that before, very cool, live and learn with sleep system components, enjoyed the video, great cause for just giving, will be soon as I can, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig

      Cheers Craig, glad you enjoyed the video. I'm really impressed with the pocket stove, going to be using that alot methinks!
      The Brompton bike is awesome, although it's very much outside of it's comfort zone in the woods as it's a city bike really (they're quite a common site in London!). But they're built tough and plenty of folk take them out touring. It's a nice way of broadening the horizons and being a bit more adventurous.
      Thanks Craig as always for checking out the video 👍

    Good Evening Barney enjoy your latest vid never heard of a Brompton before 🚲 it different like a quick question where do you and Des film your videos mate 😊

    • @barneysbimbles
      @barneysbimbles  9 месяцев назад

      Cheers Mark, glad you enjoyed it. Brompton bikes have been around for a while now, but you only really see them in the cities. Designed and made in London though and are built tough.
      I film my videos at various woodlands close to where I live in north Kent, with some occasional trips down to the west country. Some of the spots are located in a woodland that I'm permitted to use and others are close to the National trails that run through Kent. Apologies if that sounds a bit vague, but I try to keep my precise locations fairly private. Ultimately, I do my research on Google maps and OS maps, get out for a walk and recce and search for spots that are well off the beaten track. 👍

      Cheers Joel, I like the look of the Alpkit bivi's and the Hunka always gets good reviews. To be fair, a lot of Alpkit stuff is pre good. I'm loving the Rig tarp at the moment.
      But tempting though that is, I've just ordered another surplus bivi off eBay!! 👍

      Glad I'm not the only stove addict! I've never had an issue with slugs, but do worry about them, probably more so than other woodland wildlife. I did have a beetle crawl over my forehead last night though, but they're not going to do any harm 👍

      @@barneysbimbles I just bought the alpkit windshield as I've been looking for a smaller one for my alcohol stove (s). I like to cook proper food when camping so take a trangia and another stove. Couple of pots and a kettle.
