I was talking to a Nintendo representative about getting my hands on one of the switch docks from the OLED version, the one with the dedicated internet port, and she said that at Nintendo they would prefer you just buy a brand new OLED Nintendo switch and get rid of the old one. She thought it was funny and laughed to herself but I just had a moment like "Damn, they really just want money."
They sell them separately, but you'll need to buy an extra power cord if you buy the oled dock separately. So your looking at least $100 total for the dock & cord.
Yes, but I did a little experiment. I bought ORI on Switch then bought ORI on PC and the amount of detail removed to make it work on the Switch is enough to make me stop buying games on the Switch. Also PC games can be 80-50% cheaper, I use Steam. And my PC is using a 2017 video card, the Nvidia 1060 3 GB and doing 120 fps on the ori just fine.

Everything about the oled model is the same as the normal switch. Key difference only being the screen and kickstand, not much has been improved at all. For new people the oled is the best option, but for people who already have a switch, that is an expensive upgrade for what you get, your choice.

The screen makes all the difference. Put the switch oled next to a regular switch and you'll be convinced it's night and day. If you don't use handheld mode all that much it isn't worth it but if you do it's definitely worth the extra $50

I like Pokemon games, but objectively, they look extremely dated and run horribly on the switch. The Switch hardware was already very weak in hardware specs when it first came out. It's worth it if you're a handheld gamer like me. It's especially worth it if you got it on sale, like I did. I got it from Amazon for a mere $284, I think it was $296 after tax. The only thing I hated was how stupid Amazon shipped it. It was basically shipped in a thin plastic bag with no protection so the box is a little damaged but the system works fine.

Sure, I can sometimes hear the fans even if I only just turned it on, but that's mostly if I literally havn't turned it on in days. And even then, it's not even hot in the slightest. If it does start to get hot, then I'll consider looking up how to clean the fans. The reason I don't do it, is just because I'm paranoid that I might break something by accident.

just did some maintenance to my V1 one. No more heat, no more fan noises. Just clean the dust from the inside and replace your thermal paste. You should do the same with your pc, laptop and other consoles everytime they start to heat a lot and/or become noisy with the fans.

True on the storage. But I've never had overheating and the OLED is hardly worth it for what little bits are better.
It's worth it if you're a handheld gamer like me. It's especially worth it if you got it on sale, like I did. I got it from Amazon for a mere $284, I think it was $296 after tax. The only thing I hated was how stupid Amazon shipped it. It was basically shipped in a thin plastic bag with no protection so the box is a little damaged but the system works fine.
In general I agree, but the audio is better and the new kickstand is just uuuuuhhhhhmmmmm...... 👌

@@P3p5112 It was on sale for only $284. It's also got a way better and bigger screen. I can still dock it if I want to play on my TV, which is hardly ever but, the option is there.

I play long sessions and my 2nd generation switch never overheated, I had no controller problems, my 128 gb micro sd card is more than enough, and I can download my other games every time everywhere 😉

Switch OLED should have been called “Switch Premium” or “Switch Deluxe”. It really is a lot more than just an OLED screen added, even though that’s the main feature
Not really the differences between it and the V2 switch is just the kickstand design speakers and display all this marketing bs on ditching your old switch is them trying to get people to dump their v1 units that can easily run homebrew

Most of my friends still bought a normal switch even when OLED was out. They didn’t think it was worth to spend that extra 50 dollars. I am planning to get the OLED, but I just find it kinda weird how most people don’t get the OLED as their first switch even when it’s out.

I have never had mine overheat and I definitely played it far too much
some people just dont know how to properly use their electronic things... if u smoke a lot near the switch... some nicotine can get stuck in the fan.... or dust if u dont clean that often .... or grease if u like to play with your fingers with cheeto dust or whatever kind of food
@@darkmisticoI never clean the fan, and even then it doesn't overheat. Sure, I can sometimes hear the fans even if I only just turned it on, but that's mostly if I literally havn't turned it on in days. And even then, it's not even hot in the slightest. If it does start to get hot, then I'll consider looking up how to clean the fans. The reason I don't do it, is just because I'm paranoid that I might break something by accident.

just did some maintenance to my V1 one. No more heat, no more fan noises. Just clean the dust from the inside and replace your thermal paste. You should do the same with your pc, laptop and other consoles everytime they start to heat a lot and/or become noisy with the fans.
