My steam deck OLED is by far the best device i have ever purchased. My gaming life was dying due to a hectic life ,the steam deck has Saved my gaming "career " 😅
this, I have a job where I might get 1 or 2 hours free then have to go outside and meet with people, I play yakuza in these free hours and its awesome
Same here. I bought mine for a long plane ride, I never expected to fully fall in love with it. My 4080 gaming laptop gets almost no playtime now lol!
I've got the Oled version and with Xbox Cloud Gaming on SteamOs, Drove the hypercar - Le mans for many hours in Forza Motorsport, battery life endless......
100 games? Those are rookie numbers. Gotta pump these numbers up!

@@billyboyizco8819 yeah actually I did watch the whole video but that particular part was funny to me considering what he says and also consider the fact that the deck plays almost any switch game better than the switch itself does.
@fantom0369 that’s not true. Deck does not play almost any game better. If we confused cross platform games then yes, but exclusives? Of course not. I did not show a gameplay of a switch game on my deck. It was overcooked. This game is on multiple platforms.
@@MaxDendy every switch game I have played through emulation on my Deck LCD played better on the Deck than the actual hardware, other than the Grandia Ii HD collection(which has really bad graphical anomalies on the emulators I tried) that is. so I'm inclined to believe it does play them better. I'm referring to emulation not cross play games. of course online only games are out. it isn't hard to find the games you own. it's harder to set up the emulator. I stand by what I said. if it plays on emulation chances are it plays better on Deck than on the actual switch hardware of course with any emulation it isn't guaranteed so it is hit or miss.
@fantom0369 I tried Zelda BOTW & TOTK, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Kirby the forgotten land and the performance is worse than on the switch. That’s enough for me to know that the Steam deck cannot replace the switch.

I've had the Steam Deck since the beginning. Upgraded to an OLED and a 2TB drive right when it was announced. As a dad, I got sucked into playing gacha games on my phone. If only the Steam Deck came out sooner, I might have saved thousands from those gacha games!

Just so you know, emulation is not illegal. In case of Yuzu, they were using some stolen code from Nintendo Switch SDK, sharing roms in their Discord and selling early access to their updated version of emulator that supported new Legend of Zelda. Those 3 illegal activities made up for a juicy lawsuit. That being said, emulation alone is totally legal and that was confirmed in court back in 90's when Bleem! got sued by Sony for emulating their console. As long as you dump your own disc images, it's totally legal.

As far as dumping my own discs, well, I have those games on my switch, but still didn’t want to show the gameplay. I’ve seen several times how Nintendo tried to ban such videos.

@red_noise_bomb sure. They are the last ones with exclusive games and no subscription. Even Sony released almost every ps5 exclusive to PC.
@@MaxDendy You can also download roms for games you own already if you don't know how to dump your own games. Yes... it's piracy I suppose but can you really call it that if you own the physical copy? Downloading a rom when you own a physical is the same as dumping your own tbh so it shouldn't matter plus Nintendo can't do shit nor do they know how / where you got the dump so you're 100% safe unless you advertise the website that you got your rom from which is a big NO NO. Quick google search can help you find those websites tho. So have fun!

@@infamousrodriguez unreal truly amazing. I recommend 100% the graphics are so good on my Oled even at 40 fps and things. I’m a console Xbox gamer so the hardest part is acquiring games again but the ability to play on the go and anywhere is truly untouchable.

I just traded my Vita for a Ayn Odin Pro threw a 265gb memory card in there and now have more N64 & PSP games than I can count. They all play amazing. Best trade of my life so far
As you said, I feel like without a pc a window based handheld would be the way to go. But having a pc, the deck is such a chill thing to use. I can use my pc for more heavy games and my steam deck for indies. And the battery gives me like 6 hours on those smaller indie games, it's amazing.
Unless the PC you use is running Linux anyway. I've used Linux for at least 15 years now, there's nothing you could do to get me to use a Windows PC. The Arch Linux distro on the Steamdeck is slightly crippled since they don't want you bricking the deck but I think casual users of Steam OS think Linux is kind of like Android or something. All my PCs run Linux, even my gaming PC w/5900x and 6900xt, there's nothing it won't play short of the odd title that uses some anti-cheat that proton can't run yet.
Still rocking the LCD model since release. No need for me to upgrade to an OLED as i still get to play the games i wanna play. Will go for the inevitable SD2 instead if and when it will come out 😏

Oh boy can't explain how much I love my deck i have been in love with it ever since I got it delivered I have been playing games since I was 11 stil remember playing games on my ps 2 those were golden days bought a ps 4 the day it was released ind India but never used it much than upgraded to ps5 just because I wanted to and thought may be it will make me fall in love with gaming again played few exclusive titles like ghost of tsushima and gow Ragnarok but never enjoyed it much but than I rcvd my deck after waiting for a month and half the wait was over the first thing I did i bought 15 games from steam games that i would never play on ps5 like uncharted 4 and metro series and I can't explain how much I am in love with this little piece of tech
Something about games from ps2/gamecube era mesmerizes me. I installed so many games from that era on my deck and I am having a blast.

I had been going back and forth between getting the SD OLED or wait for the new ROG Ally. Finally pulled the trigger and ordered the SD today and I’m super excited. I know the Ally has a better performance and your able to play more games but I don’t see myself playing games that require anti-cheat, I can just play competitive games like that on my pc.
That’s the right decision! Without a PC yeah maybe you would need a windows handheld, otherwise Steam deck is a great addition.
I was going back and forth between the legion go and the oled steam deck. I have a pretty beefy gaming pc and wanted to try a windows handheld. In the end I did my research and decided to get a oled steam deck.

The Ally and Legion Go may be able to do 30 watts but good luck if you're not plugged in
The OG Rog Ally is about to get a discount. At that point it might be great to get it as well as having my lcd steam deck for emulation.

I dont know if i want to agree or disagree, i dont have any of handheld consoles. Planning to get one after decade of survey and observation, saw the new ROG ALLY X just announced and looks appealing, but my heart still on the SD Oled maybe because of efficiency.
Valve is emphasizing Linux. Maybe in the future mega gaming companies will port Triple A games to Linux. One can only hope.
Yeah the world is changing, I hope Linux will get more recognition from the companies. I’m sure devs already would like to work on Linux rather than windows

Always curious about these types of videos. It’s rare to find one where the video concludes that the Steam Deck is not for them and I think that makes sense. From the beginning Valve said people are going to know if Steam Deck is for them or not just by looking at it and I wholeheartedly agree with that. I have not interest in going back to the OG Switch form factor from my Switch Lite let alone have some “handheld” three times the size. For me comfort is small and light.
Well, I thought Switch lite is for me, but I was wrong. I preferred the regular. I believe that you should try to know if that’s for you or not. I also believed that Legion Go is the best option for me just by looking at it, but I was disappointed.

The new yuzu forks go a long way for a better emulation for totk, as long as you fine tune the emulator settings. Can't link but you find the video on youtube.
I fall in love with this gear, get my 256 lcd model three days ago and i dont regret it, i play cyberpunk and my god its just so diffrent compared to playing stationary on my xbox, but ofc game itself have poor optimization i have to set lovest setting because i had enough of crashes and idk if i buy dlc because i am scared that game gonna work worse but overall its great experience and luckily my library of games is huge.
I finished cyberpunk on ps5 and played on the Steam deck via remote so I’ve never tried it natively on my own. However, I’ve heard many praises on Reddit about how cyberpunk runs on Steam deck. How many fps do you get? Do you use FSR?
@@MaxDendy Damn my comment get old fast 😅 because i did settinngs again and its all good but yep i use fsr, i use lowest settings and is great i am not expert about fps, but i think i get 60 easliy, game works a lot smother after settings so yea i can't complain because after that i don't get crashes its mostly my fault honestly because I didn't pay attention to what I was setting, so now its all good still more positive than negative i feel like a little kid discovering gaming again i fell in love with this console seriously, so yea guys if you have problem with cyberpunk just check settings and make sure you have fsr and set some of the setting for lowest works for me, i care more about experience than graphics.
Edit:Okay I discovered performance oberlay level i get mostly 60fps but gpu is mostly from 70-90% idk if its good with gpu but yea runs good so thats what matters.
Was going to get the sd but couldn't as access my steam account with steam guard on, so ended up going for the ally in the end
I’m looking at getting one, I’m a console gamer that wants access to steam games. How good would this be connected up to the tv and using my Xbox controller?
Its unbelievable how well Steam Deck runs games on limited power. It can run many PS4 era triple A games at 40 or 45 fps when paired with an 80 hrtz or 90 hrzt refresh rate to get 2:1 smooth playing experience. Especially for games that are able to generate frames through FSR or DLSS. Its a dream device. I disagree with Reviewer, the OLED is by far the better devices, not only for the screen but the other upgrades.
I'd like to say.. emulation isn't illegal. Also I'd say the LCD version is the smart or reasonable choice because you can get it for very cheap... I still got the OLED though as a little treat lol
I bought an LCD last year during the summer sale, also bought a matte screen protector and upgraded the storage, my only real gripe is battery life, it seems to only last about 2.5 hours on a game like RDR2.
Still better than windows handhelds, so don’t stress about that

A lot of people still have issues with remote play where the wifi adapter goes into power save mode after booting up from sleep/off and are forced to toggle wifi off/on for it to work flawlessly.
Since you didn't mention the issue the issue in your video, is this an issue you've ever encountered? What router are you using?
Hi, I’m using the router that came with the provider. It’s their brand.
The only issue I had is low resolution and glitches, but that happened because of the bad wi-fi signal when I had many devices connected to the same wi-fi.
After doing a ton of research, I concluded that the OLED model is like the iPhone N Pro Max, is there if you like it, but not a completely necessary thing, that's when the non pro iPhone models enter, they are perfect for what they are, that's the LCD Steam Deck.

Buy an OLED if you can afford it. Bigger storage, better screen, betters sticks and touchpads, improved battery life, improved cooling system, improved speakers.
My 526GB LCD is only a week old, but I feel the battery isn't enough still. Should I upgrade? I could afford to get a 60% return on it and pay the last 40%.
It depends on the game. Try tweaking the tdp and GPU clock. I get a massive battery life upgrade when I do this. You don’t need all the power in every game.
When it comes to battery life, Steam Deck and all these handhelds are not impressive, so you might just stick to your lcd and enjoy it.

Depends on the game... Got both lcd and oled, - oled battery life is 60%-120% better! In heavy AAA games it will gave you +50-60%, in light games up to +120%
In my experience: lcd deck average battery life is +- 3 hours, oled is +- 5 hours.

I am wanting to get a Steam Deck, but I don't know if I should get Oled or LCD because the difference in price is a bit big. I do want the one that is the best and will spend a little extra if I have to, but just want to know if it is worth the extra $200.

@MaxDendy I do have a Switch (LCD, not worth the Oled upgrade for just screen), PS5 and decent gaming laptop. This will be something to play the games I have on Steam (also seems I can have Epic Games on and that'll be for my free games I got), but just without all the driver updates and hassle to just pick up and play.
I have decided to get the Steam Deck Oled and it is thanks to your video for bridging the gap between the two devices and how great it holds up. Would you say based on how I will use it that the Oled is the correct choice?
I've tried legion go and ally but both of them were stuttery. It hits a high fps but the 1% lows are not ok. I have not tried the steam deck yet

So, which part of a switch is not replaceable by a Steam Deck? I have both and it can play almost every Switch game. And I can use my Switch Pro Controller and Joy-Con. Even can be Docked like a Switch.

@@MaxDendy hmm. Which game from your current library outside of Switch Sports have you found not to work? That’s the only one I’ve found so far in my library. Excluding games that are multiplayer online using NSO.
@@blackph0enix tears of the kingdom and scarlett of violet run worse, also a few games such as mario party (superstars and super mario party) do work but are sorta ass with just buttons.
Just to clarify tho, I still love the steam deck and use it 5x more than my switch.

The masses want a steam deck 2 that they can connect a quest headset to, and be able to download VR games to play off of it. SDVR. Thats what the masses want… It would make VR even more portable.
I just bought mine a couple days ago. I got the lcd version. To me the screens don’t make much difference.

BotW runs great on cemu. I did not fiddle with TotK to optimize, but I was under the impression it runs better than native on yuzu.

@@MaxDendy yes, cemu is wii u. I did not intend to imply there is totk for it. Just mentioning BotW is great on cemu, in case you play it on a switch emulator. I run it at 40 fps on 10-11w with oled.
@DarkPhoenix1515 oh yeah of course Zelda on cemu runs well. That’s the emulator I used with my PC (rtx 3060) and it could in 4k 60fps. I wish I had the same performance with the switch games.

There's a preorder but i figured it is because they sell out so fast. Sucks, i wish i bought one of these instead of my ps5. I never p l ay my ps5 and i have good games on it. Series X gamepass is crazy worth it and i think a steam deck could save my gaming life, i really enjoy handheld so much better but switch can't handle anything heavy.
Switch is still amazing, incredible exclusives, too much a pain too mod unless u own 2 of them.

Well, it is better because it is not banned, but worse because the performance in general is worse.
But still it depends on the game. Some games run better with ryujinx
Kind of amazing isn't it? The Steamdeck is running mostly Windows games on Linux and the user experience is better than Windows handhelds running Windows. I've been a longtime Linux gamer and while Valve has always contributed to the cause of getting Windows games running on Linux under Steam, there were massive improvements in the 2 years prior to the Steamdeck announcement. I never really did a ton of handheld gaming but I pre-ordered a Steamdeck the day it opened.

@@MaxDendywell it's pretty game specific but in general a new AAA title that uses new DX features might not run on proton immediately. For example, Doom Eternal took 1 week to get running on Proton, then it ran perfect. Halo infinite took a year for some reason. Some newer CODs run fine immediately, some will probably never run because they use kernel level anti-cheat. Unless something changes there l, that's how it is. Oddly enough, alot of games actually run better on proton than in windows. Mind you, now that steamdeck is a massive hit I expect that game studios will go out of their way to make sure the games are compatible with proton, especially if a Steamdeck 2 comes out and it's another hit.

So I figured Id go for a preowned lcd Deck that was according to seller "very sparingly used" and in "supernice condition". Its the 256GB variation.
Pictures looked fine. Some sweat residue on joysticks and parts of plastic where hand palms rest but no scratches. Seller had over thousand sales and 100% positive feedback.
How are Steam Decks preowned, anyway? Im basically losing the warranty safety net in exchange for a lower price. Are they sturdy and can handle several owners? Is there something I should specifically ask seller before buying such as (for example): is it aduIt owned, has it been refurbished etc.

Please check everything if you have an opportunity: the touchpads, the screen, headphone jack, sd card slot, etc. check the performance in games and compare it to some videos on RUclips.

Check for the bumpers, my right one got “stuck” but otherwise the steam deck is super durable
@harrifongostudios oh I had this problem with the lcd Steam, but it just needed to be broken in. Now it works as it should. And I had no such problems with the OLED
Is the difference really not that significant between LCD and OLED? I remember seeing the difference between the switches.
For example, what's more worth it between a 512GB LCD at 350$C or OLED 512 AT 500$C?
It’s not as noticeable as with the switch. I could not use LCD when I got the OLED. But with the Steam they are both fine. LCD Steam screen is much better than the LCD switch screen

Yes you can. The company Valve made Deck and counter strike games.
How did you get Mario kart and animal crossing on there?
That’s emulation. For that you need an emulator and game files. There are several emulators for switch and a lot of videos on RUclips that in details show how to do this. 😊
5:20 emulation is not "basically illegal". yuzu's problem was that they associated themselves with piracy

Why did you test red dead redemption at 1280p? That's quite a bit above their native resolution... Just play at 720p or 800p

If the steam deck 2 xomes out in the next 4 years, i would like it to have a screen without any bezzles. Similar or maybe slightly more battery life. And maybe 50% better performance? That can make it slighltly heavier for more battery life in my opinion.
I hope it will come out within the next 2 years. We have to see what the new Switch will offer and other competitors.

@pablieto-veganson have you heard of chimera os? It’s a Linux is similar to Steam os, which you can install instead of windows and have a similar experience to Steam deck.
@@MaxDendy yeah i have heard of it. but if the official steam os comes out. It will probably work the smoothest and needs the least amount of tinkering. I'm new to linux and only have a basic knowledge of computers and pc's. So the steam deck bridges the gap for me to enjoy the freedom of linux with the support and stability of valve's frequent updates and support.
@@MaxDendy i have an old gaming pc that i don't really game on anymore (GTX 970, no idea the cpu or motherboard) and my steam deck is my main everything now. I use it more for browsing and spotify than i actually game on it haha. And i've integrated the brave browser and spotify into gaming mode so i can just stay in gaming mode.
The moment I got a steam deck my switch became a paperweight.

Oh I wish it would be my favorite. I had so much hope for it, but I just can’t handle these speakers.
Also, setting the optimal resolution for games (1280x720p) you get blurry image and after it the image looks worse than on the ROG Ally.
@@MaxDendy hmmm i always play at 1200p and all games i play run great on it ! been playing hogwarts legacy (u have to set your bios to auto for the ram for it to run great) , fortnite, disney dreamlight valley, and horizon zero dawn! (set ram in bios to 6g) its had major updates to the drivers and i have no complaints! (yeah 800p is horrible) but i never play at that resolution
Oh it definitely replaced my Switch, no point of having one. Only reason is for the Nintendo exclusives but i rather just have the SD

It's going to be real funny when he try's switch emulation and finds out the deck runs most switch games better then the switch it self does, like Violet and Scarlet for an example the background characters move at full speed not the 5fps like they do on the switch.
I tried those games that I’m interested in and realized it’s not enough for me. I tried it with yuzu and ryujinx. Do you have recommendations of which games run well?
@@MaxDendy I've only had an opportunity to test a few as I have only dumped a few with my mig switch dumper, I personally refuse to sell the seven seas.
Unfortunately there's no best running game because each one runs better with different versions of the emulators, but the version of yuzu I have was really shortly after tears of the Kingdom and as such both saw the games run better on my deck than the switch not an extreme amount mine you but just enough that it's noticeable.

No one ever talks about OLED screen Burn in especially with game interfaces being constant on the screen you'll have that burned in.
3 years with my switch OLED and everything is fine. Also have an OLED tv for about 2 years and no issues
Why did you run hades at 10 watts on the ally and 8 watts on the go, you can run the go at 5 watts and the ally at 7.
I just used the standard modes that you can switch through the menu.
I picked silent because that is more intuitive and what most people would do.
@@MaxDendy eh it is just because you are changing the tdp on the steam deck to 4 watts, but you can just do the same on the other devices, it is just as easy.
Most people also aren't really screwing around with the gpu clock speed setting on the steam deck anyway.
@@oo--7714 yeah I probably should’ve done it. Thank you for your attention to details. When I did this battery test I don’t remember Legion Go having this easy menu for changing TDP. Anyway Steam deck would have better battery life since those two won’t go to 4w and they don’t have the GPU clock option. I will sure go to the minimum while making review of ROG Ally and Legion Go.
For me the best thing about steam deck oled is that it dropped the lcd prices and i was able to get one. Lol

I'm realy fascinated how people are like "You can connect all the computer stuff to that portable computer" and are making a huge point out of it. I do have to ask then - what did you expect out of a portable computer? To not be a computer?
Some things are more obvious for some people. There are many non tech savvy people making a purchase decision.
@@MaxDendy You're partialy right, the issue for people you've mentioned is that all the "tech youtubers" are referring to SteamDeck as a "console" which is .. lie to put it lightly. We need to start naming things as they are before words stop making sense
@mrogalski well. It’s hard to name them a computer, because the main purpose is gaming. They are advertised as gaming devices. In addition, a traditional computer has a mouse and keyboard.
The purpose defines the naming.
I would not call them computers because I would not do the work I usually do on a computer like browsing, watching movies, editing videos, office stuff, etc.
@@MaxDendyBut you can do all of that work on Steam deck easily. You can't do any of that on a nintendo switch (without modding). These are much closer to a laptop than handheld console like the switch.
