    The best video I've seen so far on RUclips showing a decent working suspension set up and the way to add shock oil. I do not have the wide kit but I really don't like the 30wt in the shocks. It is slapping like crazy. I ordered 50wt. Not sure how that is going to react with stock arms but I need to try something. My chassis is taking a beating with the 30wt. I'm only jumping 3 or 4 ft high. When I press down on the rear of my Maxx it acts like there's no damping at all. Hopefully the 50wt will help. Great video:-)

    Chassis slap is what stops things from breaking , the entire length of the chassis takes the impact force , that's why buggies are notoriously durable , there chassis always hit the ground.

    • @GeddyRC
      @GeddyRC 2 года назад

      I figured as much, that chassis is practically nuke-proof. Not to mention, if it hits the ground after going through the entire stroke of the suspension (and the tires), the impact is already greatly reduced.

    The slower rebound is from the heavier oil not the springs. The new springs that are included are a heavier spring because the arms being longer have more leverage.

    Hi there, just installed the widekit as well. Unfortunately it is having a lot of chassis slap even with gentle drop from less than 3ft high. This is despite with 50wt front and 60wt rear. Do u guys face the same problem after the wider kit? Not sure if it is also partly due to the heavier gpm drive shaft that I have just installed

    One thing I never hear anyone point out is how sharp the Maxx turns when they criticize how easy it rolls over. If the E-Revo turned as sharp as the Maxx it would be easier to roll too. The revo turns decent but as soon as you add power the turning radius increases a lot where the Maxx does not.

  • @wise--men
    @wise--men 3 года назад +1

    3:01 Congratulations man, you are one of the rarities of youtube that makes a correct Rebound in the shocks. I am far from being an expert, I barely started, but from what I understand of the shocks, it is that his reboud will correspond exactly when you leave the shaft when you tighten the lid. This is because that will be the zero pressure point, since once you go up or down you will be changing the internal pressure. The springs help the bar to descend, but it is part of the engineering to use air pressure as a way of absorbing impact. At least that's what I understood by analyzing and thinking. Do you agree? My driving style is to walk straight and jump at an average height of two meters. I don't care about curves, turnings. For me, I don't think it is mandatory that such a cart is capable of making sharp turns at 60mph. I am currently using and still testing a 12,500 CTS silicone oil. Yes, 12,500. It is about 10% thicker than honey.

      Yeah its the air inside that little piece that is compressing when the shock goes in.
      I tend to set my RC's up for drving more than landing. I only land 1% of the time. Chassis slap isnt that big of an issue.

    • @wise--men
      @wise--men 3 года назад

      @@outsourcedrc Amazing!!! But I already know that I will run the risk of breaking pieces, with my stiffer shocks. If it breaks, I really want to know where the weak points are, so I can exchange them for metal parts.

    I just installed a wide kit on mine, and it was a huge improvement.
    Now I have to dial in my shocks.
    Update:
    I put 60 weight in the rear shocks, and 50 weight in the front . It lands like it’s on a pillow.
    I also put 1million weight diff in the rear, and half million weight in the front diff.
    Then I put on Trencher HP 3.8" All Terrain BELTED Tires.
    I took it out for five minutes and broke the rear plastic junk driveshafts.
    Steel replacements on the way.

    Great vid! Really enjoy watching them. Not sure why Traxxas, if they already know you will need this kid to keep your MAXX stable, doesn’t include this kit or change the MAXX to this configuration... I understand from a marketing and revenue perspective this may look like a fantastic idea, but to me it would be very annoying to buy something you know you have to upgrade when unboxing just to be able to drive is in a normal way. So when you compare price with something else.. you actually have to add the price of the wide kit. Have you provided feedback to Traxxas on this and if so what was their reaction? It just justifies the price for the HOSS (even if it’s bit on the high side) when comparing to the MAXX in this configuration.

      I’m still running the stock Servo. I don’t feel like it needs anything different, so I’m not sure what to recommend. I think the Servo is strong and fast enough for the Maxx. I like slower steering rates on RCs that tend to be top heavy. Makes them easier to keep on their wheels

    • @johnboy6955

      I've not had good luck out of my servo idk what is wrong with it but it is really slow and weak. It takes a acre field to turn my maxx. I may have something bent or just a faulty servo bc it worked good the first few days then just weakened and I've not been bashing hard either.

      Eh? What do you mean by the stock setup being too heavy?
      The wide kit comes with STIFFER springs for the rear (the rear springs are already stiffer than the front as stock) so you put the stock REAR springs on the front as per the instructions... You are then advised to put 50wt oil in the shocks, much thicker than stock, so what the hell are you actually talking about?

    Hey Love your videos. I'm. Not a fan boy of any brand I just wonder why Traxxas would bring out such an expensive truck like Maxx which is so inferior in handling to its siblings like the erevo Xmaxx or even the Rustler. I haven't seen one video review that's shows that there happy with handling of Maxx, then you need spend even more $ to get a "wide kit" and for someone like you that can drive to have problems. I have no chance. Can you honestly say it handles as good as your Xmaxx or even your erevo 2.0. Have you compared it to a Outcast 4S they seem to work straight out of the box and don't fall over standing still. Thanks again love your videos.

      Thanks. The Maxx is really tough and beefy. It seems like it can take a beating. I think that was the goal of this RC. To make one that is really tough out of the box. Longer A arms are weaker A arms. There are trade offs for everything.

    You can make it even wider by using hot racing adapters 17mm with +10mm for the traxxas Maxx and they work for the E-Revo 2.0 (which I have and put on mine)
    Here is a link to a guy on RUclips that got them for the maxx

    You have terrible rebound on those shocks. Why did you push half the shaft up then close the lid?? You spilled some of the oil out. The shaft should bounce back but yours barely does... low on oil

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  4 года назад +6

      Its not low on oil. The shaft of the shock takes up space. You push the shock rod up half way so that it pushes out enough oil to make room for the shock. That little hole in the cap where the oil came out at? thats what its for. Thats how you bleed the shock.

    What's sad is that is how the truck should have came stock, that's yet another way Traxxas screws their customers! For $550 there are way better trucks than the max, like the Arrma Outcast. The max is a a dud compared to that beast, comparison by price point!
