I can't say enough about the widemaxx kit! I praise this truck now the difference was literally night and day. For all you guys thinking about getting the kit you need to stop thinking and just get it!! The install was pretty easy. It took me about 2 hours but I was taking my time and eating dinner while my 2 young kids were on my back. I bought the steel cv axles but haven't installed them yet. I want to see how much abuse the plastic axles will take at full extension the way they are. I did however get greedy and install Hot Racing +10mm wheel hub extensions front and back and they've been holding up great!! With the widemaxx kit and hub extensions the truck is now 60mm wider and handles like a dream!!
Steering upgrade and skidplates were the first of many upgrades I did. Steel axles and front body hold down. It flies off when you have a fast accident
Definitely aluminum front carriers, cvd axles with wide kit for sure, Arrma kraton Dboots copperheads tires I find to be the best tires for dirt and bashing for me👍
I just took my Dremel and ground the threads off the stock hinge pins cut them to length and used some button heads from a screw kit I already had .... Basically free mod.
Idk why people keep having problems with the fans, I’ve hit crazy jumps and broke a drive shaft and a caster block but fans and fan blades are fine in my V1 MAXX
They didn't come with better hinge pins because it's a cash grab. Wouldn't some thread locker solve the backing out? Do you think fans are necessary if you only run 3S and stock gearing?
I got a set of those same exact Proline Badlands tires also for my max and even though they are great tires, I’m not necessarily kicking myself for buying them so to speak but, for whenever the time comes up that I can run my max on loose dirt, I prefer to use the 3.8 Traxxas Geode wheels that have the optional bead protector with the smaller 5.75“ x 3.5“ Traxxas Talons like what used to come on the old old Revo 3.3‘s because they’re a very durable tire firm pretty much any terrain and they’re only like a quarter of an inch taller they have the factory max tires but they’re only about 3/32 of an inch shorter than the badlands. But other than not wanting to use my Badlands on anything but just loose sand or dirt, I don’t like how there’s no sidewall or rim protection at all because in just the several times I’ve used my badlands, the beads of the wheels have gotten pretty well scraped up and I’ve even noticed some very minor tears in the rubber just to the outside of the tire bead.
If your going to get the wide maxx kit have plan to up your shock oil to 80wt or it will handle like if you had shocks with no oil inside. Traxxas said to not go up than 40wt idk whats the reason for that
Good info. I'm trying to hold out for the widening kit and see how it will work with the steel CVD's they offer too already. Want to get aluminum c-hubs. Only part I've broken. This thing is sick tough as much as it tumbles! LoL
The best fan fix is to drill lil divots in the center of the case and put a drip or to of super glue on the back of the face shroud in the center and use baking soda to harden the superglue and make a Lil bump that the fan can lift up to and bump against it simply keeps the blades from hitting the shroud and your good to go. Also He forgot WideMaxx kit with constant velocity CV axles Steel.
@@RazorRC this is correct but I do need the durability because I'm running 3.8 Proline belted trencher tires they weigh almost 1lbs a peace and for it to turn that and not destroy the driveshafts which I did within the first minute and a half of driving on them with the plastic ones. The $99 price tag is worth it. Also had to gear down the motor because the tires are so large and wide but the stability is insane
Hello..I have two questions..have u tried the baby Maxx power system in any 8scale yet?...and how/if u could just put slash upgraded axles with 8th hubs and wheels ...and roll🛩️?
Did you mount a 30mm fan to the ESC? by the looks of your mounting through the factory shroud. Perfect summary of minimum parts required to turn this truck from an OK basher to something really great 👍😎
Hey razor not sure if you're looking for a new sct but the team redcat sc10e is on sale on Amazon for 217$. It sells for 380$ everywhere else. Guess it's a rebranded hong nor, ofna jammin sct which is pretty well respected of a platform and was known as the slash killer. Its the team redcat which is better quality than the redcats. I just picked one up before xmas and love it. It's got a hobbywing max 10 (real, not rebranded) and on 3s does about 60 mph stock. I can't speak on its durability yet but seems pretty nice. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you might be looking for a new truck/ sct to review. Check it out if you're interested. When I bought it a week ago it was 217$ and 2 days ago it was down to 202$ which is an Insane deal. They are 380$ everywhere else.
@@RazorRC No problem bud! Yeah I'm really liking it! I also grabbed a basher sct the dhk hunter brushless for 180$! Lol I couldn't resist the deals before xmas! I went from having none to buying the Mojave and those 2! I love scts now! They are really fun.
the stock fans are fine they just jump out and hit the top of the housing. easily fixed with screw and 5.5box nut on the top of the housing. also if you lube up the hinge pins where they pivet they wont back out (:
Really weak servo and light-duty spring in the servo saver. If you're on 4s at full throttle the tires ballon way up and there is almost no tire surface touching the ground. My top 3 upgrades were new servo and servo saver spring, widemaxx kit, and the esc fan because it goes out quick...Then belted tires/wheels.
Great Video ! Quick question...I just watched driftomaniacs video about 3 upgrades for the Maxx. He noted that the Badland tires where just barely rubbing on the inside of the wheel. Did you notice that problem.......or did he have a different type of Badlands? Thanks for your time and help !
I have one question. Why tf you have to buy pins??? For 29 years they used screws instead?? Now they offering you the fix for handling and now 20$ pins 😞 For 550$ though you would not have to upgrade stupid designs and actually improving the car
The wide maxx kit is ok but your going to have trouble with the suspension i noticed only traxxas use their shocks at almost 90 degres Its easier to compress that way easy fix would be 80wt oil
Good point, I don't even remember doing that, lol! I can't remember if that was because I lengthened the eyelets in the rear and was going to test them next time, or it's just a plain mistake.
If we truly want Traxxas to include the solution to these issues out of the box we should be spending our money to fix them with 3rd party aftermarket parts. Otherwise they just keep making money hand over fist and will never change these money-hungry tactics

Dboots copperhead tires from Arrma kraton are a bit better than the badlands. I recommend upgrading to cvd axles also. Just a tip👍
I just ground the treads off my hinge pins cut the button heads off and whala saved the 27 bucks and have had 0 issues.

What’s the link for the fans?
Great upgrades and info
I was wandering what those other little holes where for on the control arms👍, I did the widemaxx kit and love that upgrade...great vid.
Hi when you put the hex kit on did you have to replace the driveshafts or do they fit straight to the standard plastic ones. cheers
He said straight fit so I guess no, you can even see his original drive shafts on there
hello there razor rc how good is the pro-tec fan over the stock fan as powerful ?????
Next up wide maxx kit? I would love to see you do a setup and review of the wide maxx kit and hear your review of how it handles with it .
It handles like a truggy for me my friend has the wide arms but I don't so after about 1 pack with it its pretty stable tbh my opinion tho

WideMaxx is good, but I feel like you need to buy the CVDs to get the durability and those are $120!

So its 51.00 For Just 2 tires do you need them on front and back maybe that's a stupid question sorry I'm new at this

Fantastic Upgrades mate , all I need now is a Xmaxx lol 🤪 great video, thanks for sharing 👍😁👍
Link for the fans?
That $27 more dollars you spent on hinge pins is why traxxas didn't put them on truck when shipped. More $
Did you mount a 30mm fan to the ESC? by the looks of your mounting through the factory shroud.
Perfect summary of minimum parts required to turn this truck from an OK basher to something really great 👍😎
thanks. I bought a fan 5mm smaller than the original, I think the original is 40mm, but it could be 35.
Razor RC 35x35x10 is the standard size, so must be a 30 😊
Thanks for confirming!
What is model number for captured hinge pins
Will the standard plastic drive shafts be OK with 4s or is 3s better?
Replace them with dog bones only if you do the wide MAXX kit

If you put a screw in the top of the housing, then isn't the fan riding on it all the time and causing drag?
Razor RC noo there like 2 mm of space with my mod or more idk. Have a short video showing it off (:

Doesn’t the Traxxas Link Module already come with the Maxx?
no

I had the badlands on the Erevo 2.0 put them on the maxx way better than stock
My top arms keep breaking on the maxx
Same but I hit a telephone pole going About 50 LOL

my truck drives pretty good without it on dirt, so I've decided not to buy it
Number 1 should be remove the Traxxas ESC and out a hobby wing
Noticed you moved the front shocks back to the original factory mounting location. Just wondering why.

Surchaufeur love the videos tho. Keep it up
But there are no aftermarket hinge pins for example.
Don't recommend to Traxxas link kind of a waste of money just another little Gadget
Yeah thats why aftermarket radios are for
What's up with your thumbnails dude?
I've been wondering this too! We need to know this :)
