Nice video, thanks for taking the time and effort to make the video. Idea: add links to where you get your materials, how much they cost YOU, and last but not least, Make more videos. lol Subbed today when I found you and liked the 3? videos I have watched so far.
Oops I see I'm not the first to ask this question! Thank you for your amazing generous videos You have a new subscriber today!! I'm bridging over from hydroponics to Aquaponics so your videos are educating the hell out of me. What kind of liner is that? Is it just a pond liner? If so How thick is yours and where can I get one?
For the drain, if youtake a small piece of plywood with the hole for the drain cut in it and secure it to the bottom side of the bed with a larger hole cut in the floor of the bed the bulhead will be recessed allowing for more complete drainage.
Hello great video I love your content! I was wondering if there was any chance you could vertically integrate this system and add another one on top with lights for the bottom one? Thank you
Hi there before I ask my question let me say a BIG THANKS tou for your videos. I am new in aquaponics and your videos as therrow as they are have filed most of the gaps i had on the subject. What I am strugling with is the subject of the grow bed liner. Figered out it should be something like pond liner but it raises a questions like is it a special food grade or not. Chemical reaktivity on amonia ,nitrites and nitrates or with the suplements for the plant deffiscienses. Also thicknes and durabilyty and shel life. as wel as if you have any experience growing shrimps or crabs on the bottom of the beds as additional cleaners can they damage the liner mechanicly. Al and al it raises alot of questions. So can you make a video on the topic or at least point me in the right direction please. There is realy verry litle information on the net about it so please share your cnoledge.
Having used liners extensively for ~8 years, I can't recommend them. Fiberglass is WAY more repairable and user friendly. If your liner rips (and it WILL rip), that's it, it's done. You can try to patch it, but because of the biological activity in your system, the patch is VERY unlikely to hold. Fiberglass can simply be repaired. It's much easier and lasts MUCH longer.
Very beneficial video, subbed. I wanted to get Your advice on this, I got into fish keeping as a hobby and now I want to pursue a career in Agribusiness, what's Your thoughts?
How much air is pummped in. what do u yuse to trasport the air what kind of air pump. How small are your hotels and how far apart ar holes how far are your air feader lines apart. ? Sorry to meny questions
It would be helpful if you tell us the suppliers that sell liners. I would guess these would be commercial roof suppliers, but who are they? How about a spray on solution like these; Krylon K02758007 Fusion All-In-One Spray Paint, Performix 11203 Plasti Dip Black Multi-Purpose Rubber Coating Aerosol, Drylok 27512 Latex Water Proofer
You can use pressure treated yes. I just used Douglas fir because it was cheapest. I’ve had some of these boards in use for 5 years, I’ll probably replace them next year. Pressure treated wood could leach into the water but if it’s covered completed I don’t see the risk
Started my aquaponics journey 8 months ago, I've successfully harvest bok choy and spinach with a 10 gallon aquarium with guppies. This is the content I've been looking for. Subscribed
@@NewAgrarian I'd love a deep dive into mineralization/secondary treatment. Also, recommendations of fertilizers that are fish safe. I just added Kelp Meal to my aquarium (1tbsp) and it nearly killed all my fish :(
Skies the limit. Pressure on the side walls doesn’t really increase with width, just height. Just need adequate support under the bed and you can go pretty big
@@NewAgrarian wow they have it for agriculture projects? i didnt know that since Ive been to couple hardware stores like home depot, lowes, ace hardware and I couldnt find it
this is painful to watch. do you not know what 16 on center means? mean, on center, not on the left, or the right. on center. if you were building a house, you already failed inspection. also, a little tip, mark the 16 on center marks on boards from both sides at the same time. this make it uniform on both sides. mess up on measurement on one, it automatically transfers to the other. luckily you did it to all of them, so they all are the same distance. but i am certain you came into a lot of problems with construction on this but didnt show it.
That's fine the problem is how he joined the frame that is not how you do it but hey not everyone knows how to frame if it works it works I guess, also that's probably $1000 worth of pvc liner there are cheaper and easier ways to do that
you sir, are a champion
I like how detail and simple he make it look , thank you !

I would be curious to know what mill liner you used and what it is made out of.
He sure went out of his way not mention it in the video nor describe it in the video description. I guess its an ancient Chinese secret.

Awesome.
Great video!! May I know what type of screws are you using? and how many inches should it be?
I think they were 2.5” deck screws
What's the thickness of the liner your using, looks pretty thick. I have been using a Black LDPE pond lining 1000g
Can I ask how big fish tank or how many litres of fish tank for this size of bed you have made? Do we fill up water in fish tank first or bed first?
hello sir, do you use geomembrane HDPE tarpaulin for your floating raft system
For every 8' section, what was your total board length?

You definitely could. I talk about this in my online course
what kind of material did you use plantaion tank ( i mean about polythen material)
New to this kind of farming, having issues with finding the liner 😢

May i know what type of material youve used to that liner?
thank you so much
Where is a good place to get the rafts?
Local hardware store
Awesome video, Great info but Crikey Mate, for a hard working bloke you sure have nice hands. 5:35. 😂😉
😂😂😂😂😂😂
May I ask, are styrofoam rafts safe for DWC?
Sure just be prepared for little pieces to get in the water
6:35 where did you buy such a big BulkHead? I look in stores, but everywhere small size, maximum 2".
2” is biggest in this system
I can see some pipe running inside the deep culture bed please talk small about that
Why did you attach two 2x4s for the frame instead of just getting a 4x4?
Probably money and because he had tons of 4×2
How much does it cost ?
Materials have gone up even more.. would have to check your hardware store
salute
How many tilapia does it hold?
where you buy liner link please

What do you think about the idea of using marine varnish or some kind of paint to seal these? I worry about holes in pond liner.
I would avoid. Just be careful with liner, never had one pop
@@NewAgrarian I recently checked on toxicity- sources say once dry these finishes are food safe.
epoxy is pretty expensive and you would need a thick coat
Thank for showing
I'm pretty keen on using this design but it would need to be elevated at least 3 foot as my sump isn't buried.
What’s the sump look like? You could use DWC beds as sump
