    I am absolutely gobsmacked that I am only now realising Nancy sung this song. All these decades and i presumed it was Ann... That's absolutely incredible. She's a phenomenal vocalist. Her tone, phrasing, emotion... absolutely wonderful - from one singer to another. Astounding.

    • @Katerina9256
      @Katerina9256  2 года назад +3

      Yep, Ann provides the backing vocals on this one, and as somebody commented "the most over qualified backup singer in history". 😁
      Nancy does have a beautiful voice as well..she is usually the one singing harmony vocals to Ann's lead, but starting with the Little Queen album she usually got at least one song on each album singing lead. Even more in the 80s. Had to suck for Ann that this song was Heart's 1st number one single...I mean it's lovely but better than Magic Man, Barracuda...Crazy On You? Nah. It was just the right song at the right time apparently. Heart didn't even write it--- it was Bernie Taupin (and I think Martin Page). If you want to hear more of Nancy's singing check out her 1999 recording called Live At McCabe's. You can find it on youtube. One of my all time favorites!!!

      Nancy has always been a great singer. But I'll put her up against any male guitarist, past and present, and she will match or even blow them out of the water. She is an amazing musician. That is evident in Dreamboat Annie, and Crazy On You. Personally, those two songs should always be performed back to back, or they don't sound right.

    • @MustangTennisCIA
      @MustangTennisCIA 3 года назад +1

      @@jsgraham67 ANY guitarist? Wow, that’s some heavy Nancy love. Hendrix, EVH, Wes Montgomery, Andres Segovia etc.... that’s some hyperbolic comparison.

    • @georgesouth4469
      @georgesouth4469 3 года назад +1

      @@MustangTennisCIA I concur. There's a lot of great guitarists out there. Ace, Slash, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Terry Kath, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Robert Fripp, Joe Satriani...it's one thing to be into a musician, but let's not get silly here. I have serious doubts she'll be "blowing them out of the water". You [Steve] may put her up there, but it's doubtful many guitar/music magazines would.
      Rolling Stone may not be the ultimate guide, but pretty sure Nancy Wilson is not in the same category as some of the above.

Incredible singer/songwriter who also plays guitar, piano and mandolin just like Nancy does. They happen to have the same birthday too, 10 years apart! Nancy is technically a better guitarist than Patty but Patty is still fantastic. I mean it would be really hard to be a better guitarist than Nancy Wilson right? Also ask her if she is familiar with Nancy''s 1999 recording called Live At McCabes? It's basically just Nancy and her acoustic Takamine (or mandolin, on one of the songs) and it is one of my top 10 cds of all time, every Nancy fan should have it! People always say she’s such a great guitarist, but I don’t see it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan, but other that Crazy on You, I just don’t see where she shines on guitar. I’ve really never seen her do solo stuff, other that this video, where the flanger is out of control and the guitar sounds terrible. I’d love to see some videos that showcase her on guitar, if anyone knows of any.

    • @upperleftcoastchelseafan7718
      @upperleftcoastchelseafan7718 3 года назад +1

      I love Nancy but you're obviously not a musician, she is not a great guitar player by any means. She's a passable rhythm player, just because she's a female who plays guitar doesn't make her great. I've been playing guitar as long as she has and I'm far more accomplished. That's not her playing lead on all the great Heart songs. She plays chunky electric power chords and and sweet acoustic rhythm but it's stuff that hundreds of thousands of guitarists can play. Took me about four hours to nail the intro to (and the rest of) Crazy On You and I'm about number 4,000 on decent guitar players in the Portland area. That's probably the hardest song to learned that she's played and while it sounds difficult, once again, any accomplished guitar player can play it, doesn't make you great. Not trying to belittle her great song-writing, vocals and rhythm playing because I love her and I have always loved Hearts music.

    • @upperleftcoastchelseafan7718
      @upperleftcoastchelseafan7718 3 года назад +1

      @@kevino.7348You get it. The intro to Crazy On You is probably her most difficult work and while it's nice, any decent player can play it. My son was probably 14 when he could copy it note for note (and play it better than I could, ha-ha). There aren't any videos of her show-casing great guitar work because she's not a great player by any means. Just a female who plays guitar and people give her way too much credit for that. There's thousands of female players who are much better players, obviously they aren't as talented in their song-writing and vocal work or weren't lucky enough to make it big time but they're out there and I'm sure they cite Nancy as a huge influence. Love her and I love Hearts music but I played music professionally for 40 years, I've known and/or seen thousands of really great guitar players, so it gets under my skin when people who've never picked up an instrument in their lives refer to Nancy as a great guitar player.

      I have that on DVD...my favorite performance is Alone, which they worked out acoustically, and the cover of Elton John's Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters. The whole show was pretty incredible!

    Out of the two sisters, I've always gravitated toward Nancy. One, she sings just well as her sister. Two, she's an accomplished and extremely talented guitarist who doesn't get enough credit, simply because she's a woman. And that's sad. Because there are some amazing women who can play a guitar as well as Satriani, Vai, or Petrucci. Orianthi Panagaris for example. Sings like Carrie Underwood and shreds like Hendrix. Nancy is in that same category. Dreamboat Annie and Crazy On You are prime examples of just how talented Nancy really is.

      Nancy is extremely talented and a great singer but ...as good a singer as Ann? She'd be the first to say hell no 😄
      Not sure what you're referencing with Crazy On You...Roger Fisher wrote and played the main riff although Nancy did play rhythm acoustic. Maybe you're talking about the intro which of course is badass. Nancy is a phenomenal musician (guitar, piano, mandolin and more) so I'm not disagreeing with anything here other than the assertion that she sings as well as Ann--who is widely regarded as one of the best rock singers of all time. Like you though I am also a big fan of Nancy's singing. Have you heard her 1999 cd called Live At McCabe's? If not you are in for a treat! I still listen to it all the time.
      Thanks for your comment 👍

      Nancy is an excellent musician and vocalist, but doesn't match Ann as a lead vocalist. She is the GOAT. No female vocalist matches Ann's power and style.

    Friends, realize that these ladies are 65 years old in this video. They still tour and perform, playing and refining their craft. True talent, and true dedication. They disrupted the definition of women in rock music in the 70's and haven't quit since. They are.....Amercian musical royalty.

      Your assessment of these beautiful and talented sisters is spot on but this show was recorded almost 20 years ago. I should have specified that in the description, sorry. However, they have certainly continued touring and making music over these last 20 years...Nancy has her first studio solo album coming out this month! It's called You and Me.
      Thanks for your wonderful comment 👍

      @@johncampbell8534 They continue to inspire me! I hope you get the chance to see them...I saw them the first time at 16 in 1979 and it was not long after that I started playing guitar, and later mandolin. A lifetime of inspiration for sure! And nd if you haven't heard Nancy's 1999 recording Live At McCabe's you might enjoy that, I still listen to it regularly 😊

      @@jennycraigadventures3314 yeah bro,same effect on me,seems like the guitar was being drowned haha, but to me it added some uniqueness into the whole music itself,it added gore and mystery in contrast to the ever sweet and harmonic voice of the sisters!!!
