NOW, having lost over 100 lbs EATING BACON and frying my salmon in the bacon grease, bacon is my new daily food or at least every other day depending on the meat for the day. So what do you actually eat all day? Just beef steaks, chicken strips, turkey, lamb chops.. Give us an idea of a carnivore diet for a week.

    • @T-aka-T
      @T-aka-T 3 года назад +2

      @@hirsimusejenecadeAn example for you. I eat 2 meals usually. Very very rarely eat breakfast. Mostly lunch/brunch. That might be an omelette, maybe a cheese one, or scrambled eggs and bacon. Or liver (beef, lamb) pan-fried with bacon in suet, or 200g salmon pan-fried in butter and suet. Or a tin of sardines in olive oil (can't seem to buy them in sild oil (sardine oil)). I add a bit of apple cider vinegar for tartness, and eat the oil as well. Then for dinner I'll generally have a 250g or 300g rare porterhouse or rib eye, or a couple of large lamb loin chops with AcV. Don't eat chicken (inferior protein, all grain fed and tasteless unless smothered in spices, which I'm also avoiding). I do have coffee and red wine as well as the AcV, but no "plant matter" as such, on the plate. And I used to "eat the rainbow" with salad and vegs. Now none (8 months in). If I feel like a bit more, I'll cut a slice of grass fed organic salted butter, or have a cup of homemade bone broth with butter and real salt (that is often lunch by itself) , or a couple of tablespoons of triple cream, or sour cream, or a bit of blue cheese or triple cream brie. When I feel full I stop. Sometimes I leave half the steak, often I leave half of the omelette, enjoy it cold for lunch. Miraculous health improvements! 😍 🐂🐂❤️

    What I do with these problem vegetables is to ferment them in pickling spices & solution using a probiotic starting lactobacillus culture and although their sour when fermented, the nutrients are still there and in fact some of them are enhanced like vitamin C and vitamin K2.

      How long do you do it?

    • @e.richardscholz2338
      @e.richardscholz2338 4 года назад +2

      I have a fermentation crock with an airlock lid and let it go sometimes longer than a week
      if I’m using multiple types of vegetables at one time, are use a starting solution that contains the insides of a probiotic capsule or two.
      I let it go sometimes longer than a week but since so you say starting solution that contains the insides of a probiotic capsule or two I have anywhere from 70,000,000,000 to 140,000,000,000 colony forming units of active bacteria so a week maybe two weeks but certainly after four or five days much of the sugar is gone.
      If you want a ferment solution, one rule of thumb is: 1 gallon of well or spring water, 1 cup of white vinegar and one cup of plain salt.
      The vegetables will ferment without it, but if you want to keep them whole or close to that or create a mixed variety of fermented vegetables like broccoli cauliflower carrots colored pepper, the solution is helpful because it’s the right pH for the bacteria to thrive but yeast or mold will not.
      I’ve never had a bad fermentation experiment go bad using the solution and especially the probiotic capsules rather than relying on the wild yeast in the air.

I have tried this and I am naturally underweight. This diet put me in severe weight loss. I started eating pumpernickel bread with peanutbutter to keep my weight up between smoothies and salads. My mate is a carnivore and i eat meat with him occasionally but this is a big no no. I would love to nix vegetables but I get so much feedback about acidity and hormones. Insulin also makes them grow which is in all the vegetables. No meat and no fruit and vegetables seems like a diet that is incredibly unsustainable.

  • @ItsCollie
    @ItsCollie 4 года назад +1

    So, basically, I’ve been average and athletic all my life but ended up with a severe vitamin B and vitamin D deficiency, which created metabolic syndrome which then led to type2 diabetes and I got up to 335 pounds. The minute I found out I was diabetic, I stopped drinking alcohol, started exercising and went on a vegan diet at 1400 cal a day (about 100 carbs per day) and easily lost 70 pounds within a year. On this diet I consistently lost a couple pounds a week. There were many times when I was lightheaded and dizzy and did not feel well but I pushed through it. However, I think I lost a considerable amount of muscle and my hair was falling out like crazy. I can see all of it growing back and now being on the keto diet with so much fat and protein. I’m 46, height is 5’7 and my current weight is 285, as I gained back 20 pounds over this last holiday season. Basically the 70 pound weight loss turned into a 50 pound weight loss.
    A few years ago, I did a special machine exam at my naturopath that measured my visceral fat and my muscle. She told me that I had about 40 pounds more muscle than a normal woman my age and height (due to being a paramedic and doing a lot of lifting and cardio for years). So she pretty much told me when I get on the scale, to take the number I see and minus that muscle weight from it. Not sure if that was wise advice but regardless, based on your lowest calculations on my real current actual weight, my protein should be 102.6.
    I also have a fatty liver from the previous diabetes, so I know that this is the very best diet for me in that regard. I don’t understand why the lower fat/higher carb vegan diet worked so well for me, when I’m doing less than 20 carbs a day and sticking to my macros and measuring and weighing everything I put in my mouth. calories tend to run between 1600 and 1900 a day. Luckily, I still have a considerable amount of muscle under my fat but I’m no longer a paramedic, as I have a broken vertebrae in my lower back. Between that and covid, and a yet undiagnosed autoimmune disease, I’m not getting the same kind of exercise I got when I was on my vegan diet a year ago and could walk every day and go swimming. I don’t look my weight. I carry it very well and the doctor is always shocked when I get on the scale because he can’t believe I weigh as much as I do. I have a pretty large frame. Even if I were to be 130 pounds, I think my shoulders would be fairly wide. Sadly, my feet go along with that. lol
    Been fairly slender all my life. I was a very skinny kid. I have now completely cured my diabetes by losing that 70 pounds. My A1c is 5.1 and that was before I started keto. Carb manager pretty much has my protein at 100g, and it’s telling me that I need 129g of fat at 1603 calories a day (set at a 30% deficit) to lose 5.9 pounds a month. But I’m really not budging... I have just been going up and down between 283-289 since I started two months ago.
    Many keto calculators are telling me I need to have more like 1700 to 2000 cal a day for my weight.... but I’m not sure if that’s too much or maybe even not enough? My Fitbit tells me that I am burning about 2500 cal a day right now because I’m pretty sedentary. But even when I was walking a mile a day during my last diet where I lost 70 pounds, I was maybe only burning about 2800 cal a day.
    Any ideas on whether I should keep my macros the same or readjust them? I think the calories may be what’s really screwing me up. I basically have coffee and a protein bar for breakfast and then I have lunch and dinner but I do have some fat bombs for dessert to keep my sweet tooth down. But I don’t snack a lot during the day. I have only 2 cups of coffee a day with sugar-free powdered coffee mate creamer.
    I have a fatty liver so I’m pretty sure I’m insulin resistant. I just don’t understand how I lost weight so easily on the last diet and this one is like trying to pull a perfectly healthy tooth out of my mouth!
    I do less than 20 carbs a day A lot of the time and while I make things like fat bombs with coconut oil, I don’t eat a lot of processed foods or snacks. I’ll be damned if I’m going to give up but I’m taking care of a husband that is terminally ill and I need to get this weight off in order to care of him because it’s putting so much stress on the broken vertebrae in my lower back. I’m frustrated because I worked really hard this last couple months and I should have definitely lost at least 8-10 pounds. I can’t afford home care for him, so I am his sole caregiver and I need to get my body back in shape. Anyone who can give some good expert advice (if Dr. Berg doesn’t comment) would be greatly appreciated!!! I’m definitely going to try to wrap up my walking again. I am also on week three of no longer excessively chewing sugar-free gum, as I felt like that might be keeping my insulin levels up because I was chewing quite a lot of it to keep from snacking -but I’m not seeing a significant difference without it. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this super long post... hopefully it’s not too confusing or annoying!

    For a better perspective let's translate the 100 grams/3.5 ounces info into per cup info for each item, chopped into small pieces where applicable, and in a raw state. I also included the total carb count for each item per cup.
    PER CUP SUGAR Total Carbohydrates
    Shiitake mushrooms 1.7 grams 4.8 grams
    Red Cabbage 3.4 grams 6.6 grams
    Turnips 4.9 grams 8.4 grams
    Sweet Corn 5.0 grams 29.3 grams
    Sweet Potatoes 5.6 grams 26.8 grams
    Carrots 6.1 grams 12.3 grams
    Red Bell Pepper 6.3 grams 9.4 grams

    Rutabagas 7.8 grams 11.4 grams
    Green Peas 8.2 grams 21 grams
    Beets 9.2 grams 13 grams
    So I googled " how much sugar on keto " and the answer I got was that as long as the total carb count is below 50 grams you are ok. Doesn't sound right to me because I'm thinking that if I consumed 49 grams of sugar, which would be 49 grams of carbohydrates, there is no way I would stay in ketosis. So how much sugar is too much??

    • @T-aka-T

      @The NY golfer - - thanks for making that effort, but I think the point is to raise awareness, not to start counting (like old model calorie counting). KB would say no to that I believe, so the lists and cup sizes etc do not actually offer "a better perspective". The reason I personally went carnivore is that I found it hard to stay in ketosis and had stalled weight loss from too many veggies (plus medical issues). So carnivore was the answer. Not needing to count and weigh stuff and obsess over food all the time. Vegans need to do that to try to get enough nutrition. Carnivores don't.

No bloating at all on carnivore and stomach is completely flat. Lost an extra 3 lbs but already thin, BMI 17. Incidentally my weight did not change going from very HC to keto as already thin. Did keto for health reasons and not to lose weight. Rarely go to the grocery store since I stock up on meat and freeze it. Very convenient and esp. with the lockdowns.

    All of the vegetables listed have a much lower glycemic index number if consumed raw. It’s when they are cooked the glycemic index increases. I could be mistaken, but it appears how these vegetables are prepared for consumption determines their impact on our bodies and an insulin response.
