Just because I always hear "You cannot eat fruit on keto."
Cucumber is not boring! Sliced thin with onions, dill, vinegar, salt & pepper. I also dice it with onions, tomatoes, olive, feta cheese, avocado oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano. I’ve also discovered baby cucumbers which are so tasty and make a great snack straight up!
I have a recipe for sautéed cucumbers that I’ve been enjoying for 20+ years. It’s made with baby peas, which, of course, can be left out.
Peel (or not…I don’t care for the peel) and slice cuke lengthwise. Scoop out seeds with a spoon. Cut into 1/3-1/2” slices. Heat butter and/or oil in sauté pan. Throw in cuke slices, and sauté till soft and browned slightly. Toss with salt, pepper, and chopped fresh dill.
Edit: I just checked out another of Dr. Dan’s videos. Apparently peas aren’t too bad.
I add a small box of baby le seuer frozen peas to the sautéed cuke recipe above, cook till heated through.
I love cucumbers with Ranch dressing or Tanjun seasoning sprinkled over them
Thanks Dr Dan, I really like your presentation. Straight to the point, and interesting. No swishing around the mulberry bush with irrelevancies. I like most of those foods. Looking forward to your new message next Tuesday. From Annetta 81 yrs in Australia. Cheers
Why did the mushroom throw a party?
Because he was a fun-guy!
Ba dum tss
How many net carbs in Dr, Dan's FACE FUNGUS?
Lol😆 🤣 😂
Cute
But only 2 went because there wasn't mush-room 😂
Ouch.
Hello Doctor Dan, I'm loving your content, Very concise and precise. Its also nice to hear a fellow Englishmen, who Is an actual doctor, talking sense about this subject on RUclips. I have subscribed, And looking forward to watching more of your informative And helpful videos. Take care, God-bless
I'm just starting out on a low carb diet after putting on weight during this hard time and your videos really help. Thank you 😊
Same here Faith!
Bok choy, with its white stalks and green tops is like two vegetables in one, and it is delicious. I stir fry it with tomatoes, crumbled tofu, and some chipotle seasoning for a great breakfast.
Your channel and website are just the best! I’m new to keto and want to do it well. Your content is perfect!
I am definitely charmed by your accent and the way you explain your subject , thank you so much for this great job 😍
😊
@@DrDanMaggs You can add Artichokes ... Turnips .... .... btw WHAT IS THIS BUTTAH?
The guide is an absolute concentrated gold. Thank you!
Jacob So true. I’m going to save it.
Thank you very much Dr Dan, your resources and advice have definitely given me a great start on the keto path. I’m a previous Dr Atkins dieter and found it quite hard however he was on the right path. Keto has been much refined and your info helps greatly. Keep up the great work 😊👍
I eat a variety of chunked vegetables for my salads. Celery, carrot, cucumber, tomato, radish, and avocado. I love all the colors and textures together. Mini bell peppers are cool and refreshing and all of the vegetables you mentioned are filling and satisfying. Thank you for your video.
Hmm…your mini-peppers inspired me to stuff raw ones with puréed and well-seasoned egg, tuna, chicken, or salmon salads. (Puréed are easier to get into small veggies, than just flaked.)
Thank you. All together in one place at last. Great info.
Thank you, Dr. Dan.
Loved your presentation. So informative and entertaining as well. The lighter and funny side of vegetables is appealing. thanks.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. For posting and free download of your guide. I will be at work during the webinar. Hope you can post some highlights. 😁😁😁😁😁
Cool love all the vegies you mentioned
It encourages me to keep on with my low card diet
I'm blessed to have a very large vegie garden, have some of,the vegies already growing.
Your explanation helps me get my head around keto diet etc
Also makes me realise what foods I've been eating that are high carb.
Have an amazing Dr Maggs👍🏻
what about celery?
Thank you for such great info!
I just roasted two heads of cauliflower to eat as a tv-watching, popcorn replacement. I don’t feel guilty if I eat a little too much! (I cut them into tiny florets, coated in olive oil with a bit of salt, although you could add any seasoning, and roasted them at 400 degrees a for almost an hour, checking and turning them every 15 minutes. They came out golden brown and delicious!) sounds like you do pretty much the same!
I love roasting a bunch of vegetables at the beginning of the week, and having them available for a side dish, a snack, or salad additions during the week. This is so nice to have all these veggies on the “safe” list because I love them all!
Roasting modifies their glycemic index. I loved roasted veggies but stopped after comparing their gi raw and roasted.
Eww! It sounds horrible.
What a great idea! Always looking for snack ideas for film night while keeping us healthy.
I'm down 30 pounds in 4 mos. after being diagnosed as diabetic, with numbers off the charts. I refused Metformin and went keto @ 20 carbs a day. My numbers dropped dramatically, and I'm staying with keto. My doctor is in shock at my improvement. Thanks for your great ideas .... I'm a meat/fish and green veggies fanatic now.
A great video Dan thank you for sharing it with us. I'm going on to a low carb diet because I have poor kidney function & was told it would help me. Thank you once again !!
Thank you for this presentation and all the links !
16 different vegetables is quite a variety. There should be several good recipes amongst this list. If one isn't available, another could easily be substituted.
This is the best time of year to light up the oven, too.
Absolutely! Happy cooking!
As much as I want of each. So good to know.
Great video. Just starting low carb diets and this will help a lot, thank you!
Great information with delightful humor. Thank you!
May have been mentioned before, but the peppers are technically berries. I have been doing the keto thing for a while, but recently found your channel. Thanks!!
Just discovered your channel. 😆 This is a really helpful video for someone starting low carb or keto. I'd add celery. Also, I just discovered celeriac and successfully use it in beef stew; it's very tasty, looks like small cubes of potato! I never understand keto critics who accuse us of not eating enough veggies - there's such a variety we *can* eat...
If the rough chewy texture of regular kale (as opposed to dinosaur kale) turns you off, massaging it makes a world of difference. Cut or rip the leafy parts off the big stems. Cut or tear into bite-size pieces. Wash, dry, and place in a large bowl. Put olive oil on your hands, and start massaging the kale, or kneading with your fingers, till you feel it break down and soften. Season with salt and pepper, add other salad veggies, dress if you want, and enjoy a salad you’ll actually want to eat.
Nala Atlas, a renowned vegan chef, demonstrated this technique to those of us attending an animal sanctuary event. Then she had us make our own. Game changer!
Wonderful presentation Dr.. thank you very much. .
I've lost 24lb on keto now in 14 weeks.
It's brilliant 🙂
I love the way he says tomato .,so cute😂
Btw this video is so helpful👍🏻
it's how it's supposed to be said, remember we invented English 😉x
We think the way you Americans say it is funny and cool. English accent way is the original ;)
Excellent informative video. I learnt a lot & can empathise with a few of the symptoms of keto dieting. Many thanks for posting this video.
Enjoyed. Video very informative keep it going thanks jeff
Thanks so much for the list, didn't know we could eat bell peppers and eggplants as well as radish. That makes things a lot easier!
I'm from the desert SW United States...its Gwa co moley (Mo lei) like Molly with a mole ;) I use radishes in a chicken "packet" made with foil, lots of seasonings and a little cheese. Thanks for a good video :)
Oh my gosh, you are the best! I am so grateful to have found you.❤ Thank you!
Thanks Dr Dan! U make stuff fun and easy....
Oohh The accent is love 🙏🥰 thanks Dr. Maggs got my NET CARBS IN FOOD already.
Finally a British RUclipsr!! 🇬🇧
Woo! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Good ole briittie ! 🙂
I find him so much more relatable. But that's probably because I'm British. 🙂
@@Mel-59 Thanks Mel 🇬🇧
Never look back to EU! You bloody lucky Brits 😁
Thanks Dr Maggs for sharing your low carb veggies
That's a brilliant resource - thank you Dr Dan.
Thanks for sharing your sixteen low carb vegetables.
I like slicing summer squash and radishes to use instead of chips for dipping.
I diced radishes and fried them in a bit if oil, then put gravy on them...it had the texture of meat...
Thanks for simple and clear message ,look forward to new videos
Best video about veggies PERIOD!
Cauliflower crust pizza is becoming quite popular here in the states. You can find it at almost every grocery story in majro metropolitan areas.
Thanks for the tips and also for pointing out many of these things considered vegetables are actually fruits (if it has seeds in it and it comes from a flower, it's a fruit).
Cheers!
@@MichaelTheophilus906 well, when you change your diet it takes awhile to acquire a taste for new things. I use to be a vegetarian in the early 90s and I learned to love (and still miss) morning star hamburger patties even though they gave me the worst heartburn! Same with my keto lifestyle: learning to eat all kinds of things I use to think were gross like cabbage and brussel sprouts. Lol!
Although I love meat I also love veggies. I even love Brussels sprouts. My mom served all those vegetables to us regularly. Perhaps that's why I love them.
Totally agree...I could never go vegan, but would also never consider going totally carnivorous, as I love vegetables too much. Particularly kale, cabbage and Brussels sprouts!
Absolutely love your scientific presentation
Thanks for sharing this was very helpful and informative
Guacamole with the pronuntiation of the "e" as an "a" my britsh friend, and it's an invention from my beautiful country México.
Grettings! and thank you very much for this videos!
Agreed, but English language is full of messed up pronunciations of foreign words. Lisboa, the capital of Portugal, is pronounced and even spelled Lisbon. How the heck do you confuse an a for an n? Then there's München, pronounced Moon-shken. But we pronounce it Mew-nick, and re-spell it Munich. Why? Because we get confused by the u-umlaut? So dropping the e in Guacamole is but a minor infraction. :D Cheers from an American who spells colour with a u, and refers to that metal as Aluminium, because not even us Americans can get English right! LOL
YEA MEXICO !! said the Texican !!!
GREAT mate good to hear a country man speak.....love ya ✌🇬🇧✌🇬🇧😎
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Oh I’m subscribing Doc! You are awesome and I love new sites that can up my low carb lifestyle ❣️
Great To have you Soozi! :)
Is 2 persent milk all right to drink
Excellent video. Very informative and useful.
OH CAULIFLOWER!! Why did I Leave you til last" & "if cauliflower can be made into a pizza crust, then my friends, anything is possible" haha LOVE YOUR CHANNEL DR! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I especially love how you point out things NOBODY else has (that i've heard so far) "there's not a lot of water content in dried foods, makes them easier to consume tons of sugar and carbs" MAN! I KNEW THIS, I wouldn't admit it to myself..I was tryin to save money but I KNOW I'M WORTH IT! I'm stickin with Keto this time and DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY! THis is day #3 and FULL "keto flu" in effect!!! I KNOW I'm on a good path!! Thanks so much, Dr!!
I also like Brussel sprouts and parsnips.
Yes to Brussell Sprouts.. Parsnips are no along with carrots and sweet potatoes ... Too much sugar
Thank you soo much! Got some pretty good ideas what to cook the next weeks :-)
Thank you Dr Maggs for this listing. It will certainly be the only fruits and veggies I will have on my shopping list.
you are the lord of low carb

Just found your channel and subscribed. Great video. I am a diabetic and definitely need to watch what I eat. Thank you so much.
Thank you for all your valuable insight and information.
the good thing I like to your system is the measurement. you use grams instead of cup which i live in the USA and very confuse about using cup measurement. just like lettuce, how do you measure ½cup of lettuce since it take space in between, whereas, if you measure it in grams there no fooling around the volume. nice video, thanks
I agree cups seem very confusing to me. Kinda handy when you're measuring stuff out, but not when you're talking about trying to get really accurate measurements!
Okra! (my favorite)
Brussel sprouts? Yum.
Now I'm starving. LOL
Thank You Dr. Dan For Your Informative Video.
You have listed my most favorite things. Thanks 😊
I enjoyed your video and it was close to being very accurate. At 71 I've likely eaten a strict low carb diet for more years than you've lived so I'll offer a couple of slight corrections. Squash, divide into summer and winter varieties. Summer varieties are almost all low carb and winter varieties are medium carb. So you can eat zucchini, yellow or other varieties of summer squash as a low carb allowed vegetable. You missed the best low carb vegetable and being from england I can understand you not including it but here in the southern US okra is one very popular vegetable. At four carbs per serving it's low carb and very rich in vitamins and minerals. It can be mixed in many dishes or simply chopped and sauteed in a bit of oil until crisp without breading. Now tomatoes, peppers, and onions are medium carb foods and the amounts you eat should be limited on low carb. No unlimited vegetable eating. I limit my intake to 12 carbs per day and that allows me at least two nice servings of fresh low carb vegetables (most growing fresh in my garden right now). I eat a wide variety of greens(mustards, collards, turnip, beet, chard, kale, cabbage, brussel sprouts, spinach, lettuce). I eat everything on your list and more. There are easily two dozen very low carb vegetables that find their way to my table and some medium carb ones that I eat in smaller servings like canned carrots, beets, etc. I simply eat a half serving of each and they come in at low on the carb scale.
Great video! And it's guacamole, pronouncing the final "e". It comes from mole, that means sauce, or salsa, and guaca, for Aguacate, the mexican name for Avocado :)
in its original language, "avocado" means "testicle." And you can sort of see why...though I hope that poor Aztec guy whose woman named the fruit didn't actually have green ones, but who know.
Smashing job mate!!!
Thank you for this, very thorough and just the info I needed to hear 👏🏼
OH ITS GUACAMOLE WITH AN E. LOVE YOUR ACCENT
Mexicans say it that way, Guatemalans say guacamol (without the e) so technically there's no right or wrong way. But guacamolE is the most widely used 🤓😎🥑. Another example: Mexicans say tamale Guatemalans say tamal (no e at the end)
I live off cauliflower. I lost over 100lbs with it!!
Congratulations!! So proud for you
Woah sooooo cool!
Gosh that’s all of me , I don’t weigh quite a 100lb
Can you please share how you normally eat your cauliflower? Any specific go to’s ?
@@beyondblessed2207 all I eat is meat and veggies...one day a week I indulge. I eat cali as a rice, potatoes, bread, cooked, uncooked..
I’m really enjoying your content. Thank you!
Just discovered your channel. Been doing keto for just over a week. Thanks so much for the recipes as I am adjusting to keto and excited to try new dishes as I’m keen to get more variety. Have definitely felt the “keto flu” and slowly but surely persevering and commuted to stick with it. I’m hoping to lose 10 kg long term.
Started dieting on 1st July after gaining a stone and a half due to menopause, and overeating during lockdown. After a couple of false starts I've currently lost 9 pounds, and I'm finding that eating plenty of good food, while cutting right down on carbs, is working well for me. Also my dad has type 2 diabetes, and that's obviously something I want to avoid.
Update - by 1st October, have now lost 15 pounds.
Watching from Taiwan
But originally from Philippines
Thanks for giving us wonderful information. Bless you
I am abt to start to do keto diet thank God I found your videos , they're really helpful 😍 keep up the good work 👏
Check out dr Eric Berg videos for keto also!!
AGUACATE!! 😂 great video.
Thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to watch
I love zucchini and you can do so many different things with eggplants! These are all great ideas! Cheers!
+Adriana Girdler Thanks Adriana! :-)
In the US all summer squash (yellow or green) is GMO - grow it yourself.
Thank you, Doc Dan!
Great list! This is my first day of serious keto and these veggies are great especially if combined with fat. Look, keto diet is delicious!
Ha, love the "fun guy" - "fungi" reference for the list of non-vegetables😁
I'm from Arizona, USA...it's Guacamole (guac-a-mol-ayyyy). You are welcome! 🌵🌶
They are small and very expensive in the UK.
With a "G" sound? In Texas, we say "WOKah- molay".
Carolanne Titmus. They aren't cheap in the USA either.
@@jackiecampbell3401 .....try Mexican markets like Fiesta Food Stores
@@jackiecampbell3401 try Indian markets. Its much cheaper here.
Great video! Very helpful...I love all these items! 😁😁
Just starting on low carb diet.
This video is amazing
"Be a fungi and let me know which is neither a vegetable or fruit." Yeah, it's cute. We all got it.
Yeah, kept in the dark and fed on sh*t...hahaha...
Fungi are closer to animals than plants.
Not mushroom for debate!
what ever a thing produces, it is called it's fruit. we are the fruit of our parents' loins. lol I'm serious, it is scientific!
I shall be directing interested patients to your recipes tout suite
+Tom Wightman Good Man! :-)
Thanks
Great list, thanks a lot for this video
Very useful video. You explain very well. Thanks
Hurrah! British RUclipsr!! Love this post as I’m a UK vegan and trying to move to low carb to supplement fasting... any simple info always good :-)
So the fungi aka mushroom is neither fruit nor vegetable! I need to try aubergine as it’s the only one I don’t eat regularly (except asparagus yuk!).
Really good video again.
As I’m rarely eating fruit now do I get all my essential vitamins from vegetables? A video on vitamins and minerals would be 👍🏻
Banjo790 Ange Great Question! And great that you get so much variety in the vegetables you eat! :-)
Very useful , thank you ! And fun to watch too 🙂
I truly appreciate all of your help!New here & definitely Subscribing❤Being on keto, theres SO many questions & info. Some say this others say to do that.Thank you for breaking it down & keeping it simple.I feel way more confident on my keto journey, thanks to you being a part of my journey now. Ive been living on only 5 foods. So glad to expand it. I mostly eat meat, eggs, cheese, celery with cream cheese or ranch, cucumbers, salad(with chicken & a boiled egg in it,or a deviled egg with sharp shredded cheese & tuna mixed up in the deviled egg filling & topped with crumbled bacon(protein packed) I also love zucchini fried in butter. Ive never cooked Cauliflower, never had avocado..going to try them
I prefer to use yellow summer squash to make zoodles. Their flavor is milder and the color of the zoodles really makes it look like pasta. I think the carb count should be similar.
I think slightly higher but yes, also a great option! :-)
Avocado and tomatoes are fruit, I think! I was thrilled to see that you have aubergine and mushrooms on your list - I've been following Dr. Eric Berg previously & I think he discourages eating aubergines and mushies! He's quite hardcore actually. I'm so glad you say that they are okay! I miss mushies and aubergine! Thank you!
Why did he say no egg plant or mushrooms? Thanks
Dr. Ekberg has never said not to eat mushrooms or aubergines. In fact they are on his list of veg that he recommends on keto, I have just watched his video presentation and they are included.
@@Jb-ky1ri he has not said it. He includes mushrooms and aubergine on a Keto veg list.
Enjoyed the video, great info.
You’re awesome, Dr. Dan!!!!
It's actually "guacamole". 😅
Thanks for this grrreeeeaaaaaat content, Doc.
I've been working 3 shifts for over 30years and I've never seen any advice on eating healthy around these crazy working hours.when my wife is eating breakfast im tucking into a big dinner.
Great information. Just starting my keto journey 😊
very informative video ! thank you !
