I bought x17 R1 (11th Gen) last year and have been using it for over a year now. I would say, the review is accurate. The x17 is thin but not really portable anyway, because it's still very large, chonky, and heavy. The performance is just okay (for its class and price). Something is definitely off with that Cinebench score. My X15R2 i9 12900H scored 18300 in multi-core, far higher than this. There must be driver issues or something, because there’s no way my machine should out-perform the X17 to that degree. Unless they decided to just cripple the cpu and go all out on the gpu, but in a cpu-only workload it should run full-force
It could be the difference in testing? We test multi-core 3x on 10 mins and average the score. A single run will typically result in a higher score. We haven't had the x15 to compare results though.

Hey Jarrod, Do these e cores participate in Vray rendering. What about other cpu renderings?
Great review as always jarrod, i was wondering could you review another rtx 3070 ti laptop with 150w like legion 5 pro (i9 version). Since the 5i pro benchmark is below msi gp66. Im looking for other option considering msi ge66 2022 has poor build quality, thank youu
I have the Eluktronics Max-17 and... I have noticed since Intel's 10th gen processors, battery life has basically stagnated, if not gotten worse over the years.
Yeah, AMD is the way to go if you need battery life since Ryzen 4000.
@@cameronbosch1213 Amusing since I wanted the RP-17, but it was sold out for another month or two after I settled on this Max-17.
Still wish I'd waited, tbh. Good laptop here, but having more than 3 hours of battery would be nice. :P
Hi Jarrod, what is the best (the model and the configuration)15 inch Alienware gaming laptop
Can you make a video of some of the best 17 inch laptops?
Hi jarrods. Is alienware developing their own motherboard? If not, then who supply motherboard to them? Thanks
Ah, Mini DP. Wonder where it went in most laptop these days, as the best resolution and refresh rate support usually only come with it instead of the HDMI.
It’s the thunderbolt port
@@technicalactivity so if you have existing (Mini)DP cable, you will need to buy a USB-C adapter for it?
@@leledumbo no the mini dp Is exactly same as Thunderbolt. I use mini dp to dp on my x17
@@leledumbo send me djarum super or Gudang garam also 🙏🏼
@@technicalactivity nah, I use Mini DP, it's a totally different connector from Thunderbolt which is USB-C based.
I have a Alienware 240 hz 1440p screen, could I buy a replacement 360 hz screen and use it or does it have to be the exact screen?
"Who knew 4 fans were better than two" MSI Pay attention!
MSI GT77 has 4 fans tho
Tons of RGB Lighting to boost performance!? 😅
Can you PLEASE do thermal testing with the lid closed while playing games on an external monitor. The majority of the time that is what I do while at home, and only play with the lid open when I am out of the house. No one does testing like this.
Bought this thing, fully capped out in the specs, and can't wait to use it! This if my first top dollar gaming laptop, anyone here own one have any experiences or tips to share? What kind of games should I play? I'm definitely gonna play cyberpunk, red dead, and heavily modded skyrim and minecraft.
Is the laptop any good?
I got an rog strix 17 and the right arrow key came BROKEN and I can't find a replacement anywhere I don't use it to often but when I need to and it pops out it's pretty annoying. Does anybody know where I can get parts?
is there a performace difference in gaming laptop when its plugged in vs not plugged in?
Wow... All that space and they didn't include a 10-key numpad. Instant deal breaker for me.
hi, what do you think about ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 OLED UM535QE? AMD I 7 or 9 5000 series and 3050 ti, 1TB SSD. 96Wh battery, 15,6 screen. Im looking for fast machine, but when I need it will have great battery life. this is the only laptop I find that contains both.
@@JarrodsTech That is a great point - I only did a single run. I will retest this week on a 3x loop and see how much that impacts the score.
I am aware that you probably already know but RGB doesn't boost performance. In fact, RGB determines the potential performance of a device entirely, it is the only factor.
One question if I may but is the chassis metal or plastic?
