The first season of the American superhero television series The Boys, the first series in the franchise based on the comic book series of the same name written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, was developed for television by American writer and television producer Eric Kripke. The season was produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, Kripke Enterprises, Kickstart Entertainment and KFL Nightsky Productions.
The show's second season stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Kapon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie and Aya Cash. The story continues the conflict between the two groups with the eponymous Boys, now with the aid of Starlight continuing their efforts to defeat Vought despite being wanted by the government. The conflict is worsened when Butcher learns that Becca is still alive and she is being held captive by Vought with a superpowered son fathered by Homelander. Stormfront, a new superhero with a secret past, joins the Seven and subtly promotes her message throughout the world, with the hopes of convincing an unwitting Homelander to lead Supes to world domination.
The show's third season stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Jensen Ackles. Taking place a year after the events of the previous season, the story follows the titular Boys now working for Victoria Neuman's Bureau of Superhero Affairs to apprehend problematic Supes, having been at peace with the Seven. However, the conflict is resumed once Butcher begins to investigate the truth about Soldier Boy, one of Vought's first American superheroes, with the hope of removing Homelander for good. Meanwhile, Homelander's mental stability begins to deteriorate as Vought attempts to restrict his power, while other Seven members such as Starlight and Queen Maeve assist the Boys in their plots against him.

"i beat my meat into a cup" will always be a legendary line
This show does a _lot_ of things better than the original comic, but making Homelander Soldier Boy's son has got to be the best twist they could've done.

@@azbycx737 I grew up on a farm. It's not as easy as it looks trust me. There is a specific technique that does take time to practice to actually get the milk.

Same I found him so entertaining despite his very questionable beliefs and personality

Yeah, I feel like they didn't do enough to make us hate him, though this episode was the closest. They probably shouldn't have made it PTSD, but just that he has a terrible temper, like an abusive man from the 1940s. The PTSD gives him an excuse, and makes him too sympathetic. That, and Jensen Ackles is just too charismatic. Every time he tries to play a bad guy, like My Bloody Valentine, it just doesn't feel right.

The Oak's reaction to the reveal of Homelander being Soldier Boy's kid was the exact same as mine when I found out Darth Vader was Luke's dad.

Butcher probably drags Hughie along with him because, while he knows it's messed up and wrong, making him feel guilty, he's more afraid of being alone in this
Butcher was giving Soldier Boy "that look" because of what SB had just done to Huey. Butcher's relationship with Huey mirrors his relationship with Lenny, and having come out of that trip down memory lane Butcher was feeling protective of Huey as he had been with Lenny.
Funny thing about the beginning is Jensen Ackles is actually a wonderful singer! 😂😂
Yep. There are some great videos of him singing with the guy who played Chuck in Supernatural. Can't recall his name but they are both are terrific.

One of my favorite episodes. Never thought I'd have sympathy for Black Noire. He's probably an evil guy because of the brain damage.

Black Noir never really inspired a dislike from me. He never seemed to do anything towards completely innocent people

This epsiode pretty much sums up Butcher and Hughie relationship. A big brother hoping to redeem himself but doing a lousy job at it.

I mean, Jeffrey Dean Morgan seems to have a role in season 4, which means we already have Bobby, Dean and now the father of the brothers ... we have Jacks actor in Generation V ... we are still missing Sam and Cas (Misha Collins) though >.

Watching this the first time, I was so worried Homelander was going to harm or kill that cow by accident. I’m glad the writers and the character kept a gentle touch during that scene. Crazy episode all around!!
so twisted thought, but ya know it's The Boys. Where does Homelander get his flying and laser eyes from? maybe a sup that had flying and some kind of plasma shooting ability. Maybe someone who started Herogasm with Soldier Boy, maybe someone who had a vested interest in Vought creating him. So what if Liberty.... StormFront is the mom......
I really enjoyed the discussion you guys had at the end there about the nature of Butcher - as a man, and as a character..
It is so - so! - easy to overlook some really glaring alarmbells because it's Karl Urban - you'd have a hard time finding a more charismatic actor for that role, and he does it with aplomb - but at the end of the day.. Butcher isnt a great individual, and theres a lot more of his father hiding in there than he's willing to admit - and every now and again, it peaks out from under the bed.

There's a fan theory that since Soldier Boy mentions Liberty (Stormfront) being a "real" gal, that they had a relationship. That Stormfront is somehow Homelander's mother. It'd fit his character with all his mommy issues he had with Stillwell in season one. Homelander was banging his mother... Even if she was just a surrogate mother, she was still his mother.
What's funny about the end of this episode is that In the comics, storefront is male his DNA was used to make homelander
I wouldnt put it past this show if they end up revealing that Liberty/Stormfront is Homelander's mum

Fun fact I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere: Blue Hawk (Nick Wechsler) was also in a drama series in 2011 called Revenge where he played the main character's love interest. (Spoilers) The main character and villainess kill each other in the end, but the MC somehow lives. Just like A-Train, they are alive only because they received heart transplants from their enemies.

I've been waiting for you guys to see this one. Love all the discussion and points of view this episode brought up. When you wrap up season 3 you really need to add Gen V to your schedule; it serves as a bridge to seaon 4 with new supes and old sprinkled in and it is just as strong, unsettling, layered, and shocking as the Boys. Very well written and leaves you eager for the next episode!

I don’t think Homelander is a natural-born supe, I think they just created a test-tube baby with the right inherited genes to receive Compound V and get extreme powers. We don’t know who his bio mother is, but presumably a powerful supe as well who wasn’t told what her harvested eggs were being used for. The gestational mother was probably human and died.

@@jxchamb The season 3 ending (of The Boys) ties into the beginning of Gen V and the season 1 ending of Gen V will tie into The Boys season 4 ... there are certainly some interesting story bits happening in Gen V and I found it enjoyable to watch and I'm happy season 2 got already announced as well ^^

This show is a lot better than comics. In comics soilderboy is not a big character and is more like a pet to the homelander. The writing in this show is another level.

Soldier Boy being Homelander’s father was created for the show. In the comics, the two are not related.

40:00 We have literally no idea who his mother is (Liberty? To make it extra weird.), nor how he was actually made. Soldier Boy literally wanked into a cup. I don't think that constitutes as natural birth if you actually force it like that and for all we know the dude could be a literal lab grown baby. We also do not know if Homelander came out with powers already or if they juiced him up as a baby.

I don’t necessarily disagree with Oak about how Butcher is terrible but how I saw it is that he has a mission. And no matter what he thinks it is worth putting himself and Hughie in danger to accomplish it. He can see Homelander becoming Omni Man and doing more harm than good so he’s willing to die for the mission.

Soldier Boy imo really is a better more realistic look at a hero of THAT time much more than Cap America. I know Cap is meant to be 'the best of us' but imo the idealism amounts to brainwashing and I love how The Boys exposes that.
