  • The night on little cat feet is running down the day
What is left of summer is miles and miles away
But I never mind the winter, I guess I always knew
I turned some windy corner, and find you
The hill above the highway is gone from golden brown
The loneliness of the evening, has settled on the town
But I never mind that evening, I guess I always knew
I'd step down in the darkness, and find you
Of time and seasons, I've never been afraid
Because I knew that you were there,
    I've never been afraid
The old house now is silent, silent as a sign
It's been that way since yesterday,
    when you said goodbye
But I never minded silence, that is before I knew
How loud and noisy silence is, when there's no you
But I never minded silence, that is until I knew,
How loud and noisy silence is, when there's no you

I just love him so and miss him. Too many hurtful things said about Rod and to him during his life and after. Rod deserved much better, he was a sweet gentle man. Thank you for this. Anna.

I have been listening to Rod McKuen's poetry since high school. A teacher by the name of Mr Kelly was whom introduced me to his poems and song. Mr Kelly would play some album she had such as, My friend the Sea and many others and some where Glen Yarbourh would sing some of Rod McKuen poetry. Rod McKuen help me a lot by listening to his poetry and his songs. I was able to understand many things about life through his words. RIP my friend. And Mr Kelly thank you. You were a great teacher.

I'm so happy to rediscover Rod McQuen after 50 years. I am sorry he was so sad in his later years and was so disrespect by critiques during his life and after. They didn't recognize his brilliants and soulfulness as many of us did and do
