  • This is something designed so I could use a constant pressure removing the slats from the cross pieces. By having a nice even pressure, it almost eliminates the boards cracking and splitting, giving me more usable timber

If you make it the width of the pallet you could do all the boards at once..then you could slide it up to the next stringer and pop those loose. You would only have to remove the slide bar once.

Great idea although possibly a little time consuming. However, here's an idea. What about if you had multiple steel lifting arms all connected to the one hydraulic jack. That way you could do a complete side in one go.

I'm not the type to give major negative and often rude comments as some do. I love to see other youtuber's ideas. However, I do somewhat agree with some of the posters', comments, though they could've said it in a much nicer way. I really do like your idea. But, your idea is a very.. very slow process! With most of the ideas out there for pallet disassembly tools, a pallet can be very easily completely taken apart within a few minutes. As one person commented, your idea would make it an easier task for someone with a disability which made it hard to use a prying type of tool. But, to make your idea work faster it could be made, as others said, to be able to lift an entire row of boards at one time. Such a modification would be simple to do. Also, your idea looks very bulky and heavy. Your idea could work just as good by a few simple modifications to make it with much less metal which make in a lot lighter in weight and do just as good of a job. Don't let rude and negative comments get you down and/or discouraged about your work. But, rather turn it into positive info. by creating improvements on your ideas. Good luck and keep on keeping on!

All good. I had a lot of trouble with most of the ways to dismantle pallets breaking a lot of boards, and a mate and I just wanted to trial it to see how it went. i was lucky, as I hurt my elbow not long after, so little effort. The video was made to show my mate what it was like working, as he didnt have any other way of seeing it. (didnt want to do a dodgy vid. lol). To be honest, it really doesnt show the speed to use, as I was doing everything 1 handed and using my camera in my right hand. most people have commented either good, or bad. Doesnt really bother me. most don't have the full story or know the situation. Some I dont really think care, and just need to speak their opinion, even if it made everyone dumber after reading it. lol. Cheers though. As this is the prototype idea, we are looking soon at a way to improve the speed of it. cheers for being honest and in a nice way too. legend!

Only takes you half a day to dismantel one pallet.!😅
Then in the afternoon you can start removing the nails and set up for the next pallet early tommorow morning.!

I like your design! I was looking for a better solution and I just found it ;)
    I dismantled pallets by hand that have 3 lowerbeams 70mm x 130mm ( 100cm/ 39" long )
    ( 3" x 5") and 6 x supports 70mm x 130mm( 3" x 5") ( 230cm / 90,5" long ).
They used nails of 0.24" thickness and 7"long, the part that was sticking out the slammed it against the beam back. It is a real pain in the ass to disassemble.
With your idea it will be much easier, thank you for posting!

With one at each end and a long tube, couldn't you pull all the boards on one side all at once?

  • @stubbydnutz

Couldn't you put a longer tube in it and take the whole side up at once?

thats really well made I love effortless way you can just lift the boards off< I have been levering and banging away with hammers and half my boards end up broken I would love to have a go at making that, the only steel i have is angle iron so I will have to change the design a bit

Let's see someone put their money where their mouth is and make a version that goes the whole way across. Ignore the Negative Nellies, great design!

Cool idea, but it's slow. What if you had a pneumatic jack or a scissor screw jack (with a drill) instead? Just a thought. Great idea though!

Have a suggestion to little square tube that you have on the bottom put a stop on it so it doesn't slide all the way through for convenience

1:24 maybe instead of a 6 in piece of square stock maybe use a 4 ft and do the whole side at once?

nice work I really like the idea. I hope you don't mind I am going to work one up off your idea. I think I could make one bigger that would cover the entire pallet with 3 lifting bars and a pneumatic over hydraulic jack for the lifting power. I think that will save the boards and be faster than the pallet Buster's

Sorry mate - you're flogging a dead horse with this one. I built a couple of conventional "pallet busters" today - they'll run rings around this any day of the week. Great to see you trying out new ideas though - but way too complicated this time.

    • @killawombat75
      @killawombat75  7 лет назад +2

good for you. haha. to be honest, the only reason i uploaded this was to show the person who helped me how it went. lol. thought i had better take it slow as i had one hand with a camera. and we designed this as i had a bad arm, and swinging a hammer or levering was causing it more pain. and so far i haven't lost a board due to splitting.
