    Man i remember when i moved to town trying to make music for a living. Slogging it out is the absolute truth. Ran out of money, food, few days away from eviction. Road gig dried up, couldn't get a damn day job anywhere. I remember loading up what i could fit in my truck and eating the last bit of food i had for the trip back home, a tomato and honey sandwich lol. For a good while after that i didn't even pick up a guitar. I still play gigs here and there and i can honestly say that between You, Uncle Larry, and GT i've never been more excited or have found so much joy in playing music. So, thank you. So much.

    I always loved that saying that it's in the hands, how true!! Giving away my age, I started playing before pedals. I get that they do a lot, but it is in the hands. Mentioning Merle reminded me of the song Vince wrote shortly after he passed. He played it at the GOO with just an acoustic guitar and Paul on steel. I just thought it was really, really good!! Got off subject, that's an interesting start you have there! 8) --gary

    Thanks for another great vid Jedd. I had a question because I bought a boss chorus and was thinking about asking Buko how he recommends using it in a country/cosmic/folky context. I figured he may not have time to maybe do a demonstration because he usually gets asked a thousand questions on all his videos haha. Not to say your not any less busier, but I was wondering if you could do a couple demonstrations on how you utilize different sounds for different contexts ie. mainly delay and chorus stuff. I studied how you described how to dial in a great acoustic sound on Brett papas show and it’s served wonders for me… I’m working on an album right now, and I know you and Tom are the go to guys for tone and dialing in just the right amount of everything to produce hit records. I would be forever grateful for any tips and tricks for recording that magic…. Love your work Jedd and I realize how fortunate we are to be able to get any advice from you at all… as much as I dislike social media stuff it’s kinda a double edged sword considering I’m able to get advice from you and Tom. • @arjenland4374

    Hi Jedd, maybe something that interests you too? To my ears the guitar has an unique place in the 'mix' of all instruments in that its both a harmonic and melodic instrument plus a drum to bang on... Where these 3 worlds collide the guitar gets really interesting imuo. I would like to see you do something with double stops and in particular how to vary their rhytmic placement (chop chop...) applied together with for instance slides. Here the whole guitarbag seems to come together.
    Groeten from the Netherlands!
    Ps: i remember something that might have some kind of connection with the above, something Jim Campilongo said: how long is it humanly possible to delay a tone the ear wants to hear before....?

    It' hard to get feedback from the little lens opening in your computer - but there are thousands of us who have watched this video in the last week. We're here, you just don't get the immediate audience response like you would during a live gig.
    The progress you're making, fledgling RUclipsr that you are, is going to position you as one of the premier guitar channels as long as you keep chugging along and work to refine your voice.
    I see something very different in your presentation, your perspective, as well as how you present your craft.
    One word of caution...
    Don't get sucked in to the RUclips grind. It's made a mess of any number of people with more than a few chasing a creation and publishing schedule that can only wear a person down.

    Question for Jedd:
    How much theory do you actually know and use? I know sometimes when you are working on a song or riff idea you do the 50/50 half concious jamming thing that you mentioned in another video, but, I was wondering how much theory you use in your normal writing. Are you thinking in terms of triads and inversions up the neck, chord tone targeting conciously or is it more that youve internalized all of that and just kind of riff things out?
    do you read sheet music ever?
    Thanks just trying to pick your music brain and see what your strategy is. I've been doing a ton of theory study this past year and its helped mature my playing a lot, but I still can't actively apply all of it to the fretboard. Its like someone learning how to type- I still have to hunt and peck to find the notes and more advanced chords.

    • @JeddHughesOfficial
      @JeddHughesOfficial  Год назад

      Hey Mike, great question mate. I don't apply any theory at all to my writing. I have a very very limited understanding of it. I hunt for things that feel like what Im trying to emote and then I work my way backwards to learn what it is If I need to explain it. Does that make sense? Its a hillbilly approach to composition! haha

    • @Mike-pv3hg
      @Mike-pv3hg Год назад

      @@JeddHughesOfficial that does make sense. Its what ive always done as well (playing for 20 years) but i felt i needed more theory knowledge to get the ideas out of my skull. Running into dead ends while writing.
      Its nice to see someone doing the feeling based approach so well.
      In some ways i am not sure I can fully change this process, having played this way for so long.
      You seem pretty good at knowing what chord your playing and what note youre on. Youve at least got all the notes memorized right?
