    Hey Toniko, great inspirational stuff here, got my engines revving! Can you say something more about the competitiveness of the industry? Does it mean newbies with little experience have a lesser chance in getting their foot in the door? Sounds like the eternal "fresh guy needs to get a job but the job requires experience" wheel, so what do newbies need to present when their portfolio is a little thin? Thanks again and awesome artwork, too.

    Thank you for all these great tips! I'm planning to apply for internship, but does the portfolio have to be the same as professional animators, or do the companies still want to see student-like portfolios from interns? (e.g. things like frame studies and experimentation; something to show "potential" yet showing more professionalism than college entrance portfolio?) And I wonder if it is okay to add self-written script as well.

    My winter break started this friday so I have officially started building my storyboard portfolio! Hoping I can start applying for internships this summer, fingers crossed🤞🏽💕 I have a question Toniko but it's completely okay if you don't know the answer lol. When it comes to internships and recruitment, would I have a chance at a big studio like Dreamworks as someone from the middle east? Or would the recruiters just pass my portfolio without even looking since I would have to get a visa to work there and also since racism is actually an widespread issue?😔 Any thought on this matter would be so helpful

  • @a.wademcgee13

    Great video, but you didn't really cover any tips on what to storyboard if you're trying to build content for your portfolio. Should you try to get involve with an independent film project? Should you write your own story? Should you storyboard something from a well-know tv show?

    • @TonikoPantoja
      @TonikoPantoja  3 года назад +3

      independent film projects help, or coming up with short story sequences on your own. I used the boards from my short films for that. The common tip I heard for feature was to have variety in the types of sequences, such as drama, comedy, action, etc. Having your own story sequences help, although after your experience in the industry - you start to use boards from work with its copyright characters. Unless its NDA, you'd have to have a private portfolio with a password for the recruiter.

    So the advice is to show the studios what you can do, your voice, but at the same time you tell people to twist their style to reach out to the studio need. This is why the industry keeps making the same childish cartoons with the same aesthetics
