- French Teach American Jungle Survival - 82nd Airborne Division Go To French Jungle Warfare School
U.S. Paratroopers assigned to 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division go through the obstacle course and learn to emplace a protective obstacle at the French Jungle Warfare School in Gabon, June 17, 2016. Soldiers are attending the French Warfare School as part of U.S. Army Africa's exercise Central Accord 2016, an annual, combined, joint military exercise that brings together partner nations to practice and demonstrate proficiency in conducting peacekeeping operations.

A big part of American officer were trained by French military school . Like saint Cyr for exemple . We says (in America) that you have the best military level thanks to your tradition, school . It’s very impresionate to be on your side (with French military )
And our pilots are trained almost entirely in the US because we don't have training planes anymore.

This course looks like hell for people who wear glasses.
Had 2 years of jungle warfare training and patrolling in Malaya, with 1RNZIR .Our unit had served there from 1957 to 1989,as well as tours to Brunei and Vietnam.I always enjoyed the jungle, trained as a lead scout/tracker.
they conduct jungle operations lasting anything from couple of days to weeks, comes under tasks for op harpie. so french are well versed in jungle ops.
thanks for the great vids man
This is not the Jungle Warfare School of the FFL in French Guyana, this is a lightened version. Most of these guys might not of passed.
Stupidy uneducated... Anglo-saxon I suppose to say a such short stereotype and to resume the French Army at only the French Foreign Legion? The French CEFE in French Guyana is not just for the FFL but for all the French Army, French elites troops (GIGN, COS, etc..), French Military Academies and School officers, French regiments,... And so yes sometimes for friendly Foreign Armies like these US soldiers here. It is the same training very hard and difficult for all French troops, FFL, elites and other regiments. This is the same stage identical for all the troops of the French Army, that of the FFL is not harder than the others. And in the end you have to win it. But everyone can not do it. We have the right to represent ourselves later if we fail the 1st time, and some get it the second or the third time. Some never get it...
dont want to be sexist but if they send women to that camp they cant do otherwise than lower the difficulty
@@chourtout Nope.
The ones going to this camp usually are the Legion or elite forces and special forces (I'm talking about the real and specific formation this camp is supposed to give to troops); and there's no women in special forces or in the Legion and regular troops don't do the 40 days survival stuff in the jungle. So, you could argue that the level of difficulty is already lowered since these guys are regular troops.
The regular troops do the exact same thing but during 7 days, and I've seen women from the regular French military doing it as good as men, which is why they are in the army in the first place, they aren't here for nothing. Also, this is a voluntary training for the regular troops so, if a woman volunteers for this, it means she is already prepared for it.
And even though it was seen that sometimes other soldiers try to help, for example when they fall they want to help them get back up, women don't take the help as they aren't here to be treated well but to improve their skills and experience as soldiers. Also, instructors wouldn't help them since they don't consider them as women, but rather as soldiers.
But in this case I'm pretty sure they adapted it for the specific training these foreign troops had to do, so it's not the same as what you can find in the training of the French military.
It seems completely different and more focus on just learning the very bases. So, you could say that this training has a lower difficulty than the already lowered difficulty the regular French troops have in this camp.
Edit : After seeing half of the video I'd say it's really more about learning basic stuff than physically surpassing yourself. Also, they have blue guns, run on floating stuff and have steel structures as obstacles whereas the regular French troops are in their with all their regular equipment and there are no clean metallic structures or whatever, and they 100% only train physically in the jungle to adapt to the environment during this week.
They may learn stuff like they do in this video, but it's certainly for officers since they wouldn't need to teach this to every one, just the guy in charge who would take care of his unit and maybe even teach them by himself. So, yes as I said, it's a lowered difficulty of an already lowered difficulty basically 😂
This is a joke. This is absolutely not the real Amazonian trainee program in the Foreign Legion. This is a low cost version.
@@freewal "This is a low cost version." Really? I bet it's still too costly for a know it all like you!
thank you, very good
The french jungle warfare school (CEFE for Centre d'entrainement à la Forêt Equatoriale) is way more difficult. This session seems to be quite light compared to Original CEFE...
This training took place at the CAMOE training centre in Gabon rainforest. The center is run by the 6 BIMa, not by the légion. That might explain why it look less intense and all.
@kroooassant Someone said they were there to be shitted on?
@@eriglebrundelabouexiere472 a big part of legion training has psychological aspect to it. So yes, when you are train by the legion, you are yeld at, you get beaten, they basically destroy the former you to build a warrior that can operate in a cohesive manner with his group, composed by dozen of different nationalities.. that's not the purpose or the case here.
They are paratroopers.. the came to upgrade their knowledge,, they are not there to prove anything. FFL para doesn't even have mandatory jungle training.
Hrkljus Hrkljus someone said they had to prove something? I just notice that this course is rather light compared to what is done at the original CEFE.
By the way, you push me so ok: I don’t think US paratroopers would pasS CEFE’s test.
this is awesome! Thank you 3rd REI
French troops in Guyane (FFL, Marines and Gendarmes) look fit to almost skinny. That's because all they have on top of their bones are muscles. I can see these americans still have some fat, it's obvious by their body shape, the way they move and the way they breathe.
Funny you say that. My grandpa was a Ranger in the Korean War, he always said those "fat" or muscles guys never made it in the military. It was always the slim/skinny muscluar guys.
@@simonsays582 You're absolutely right, i read the same about the germans in Stalingrad, the only one who survived were the skinny one because the "big guy" needed more food tha the other, so they died first of hunger.
Marc us fatties
Yes there maybe some but they’re in training no ? They won’t be able to manage soon enough
JWTC in Panama in the late 80’s☝🏻. The roughest part for me was the variety of knots to learn and while under pressure. Jungle Warfare Specialists use ropes as much as sailors from the Sailing Ship era.
Need DOZENS of these superb US/NATO run jungle warfare Indantry achools for US/NATO & some select NoN-NATO allies like ASAP, mainly for US Army Infantry/Airborne & elite USMC Infantry battalions & others + key NATO nations & others. Need these schools throughout Latin American region + southeast Asia like ASAP!! The sooner the better. The need is there as is the desire.

Former Ft Sherman JOTC, Panamá, was for many years the location for jungle training and survival.
3ème RIE are based at cefe french guyana. specialist jungle training centre.
Exact’ except it’s R.E.I, Régiment Étranger d’Infanterie.
Well that looks like fun, I was wondering how my ghosting skills would work in that environment, bars, night clubs, woman etc.!!!
Like a charm, as done always for decades in next door Panama & Colombia (among other places), by both US Army & USMC
The former PDF ran PanaJungla - where US forces attended as guest students. It complemented JOTC at Ft Sherman located on the Atlantic side of Panama.
During the Nam the US Special Forces could train live at RECONDO. Then the US politics shifted their attention to sandy lands. This is a Godsend that France is still in power in Guyanne. We got to train the best of our servicemen in conditions the nowadays Lurps and other US Special Forces can only dream about.
On another note, the Indonesian Elite Corps (called the KOPASUS which stands for Komando Parasutis, is a very skilled and experienced (in first hand combat) jungle combat unit. The Americans used to train with them every year until recently, I dunno if the cooperation is still going on.
Am sure it is. Jungle warfare training & skills have always been a priority for both US Army Infantry/Airborne/Rangers,& even more so with USMC Infantry/Recon & Navy. Thatll never change & will actually only intensify as we speak & more so in coming years.

The u.s. army used to have a great jungle school in ft. Sherman panama. I went through it as a marine in the 80s
We still train always & often throughout ENTIRE Latin American region PLUS Southeast Asia/Philippines & Okinawa + Australia/New Zealand + Hawaii & select locations in southeast US & 85% of Caribbean.
@@fredcollins8919 How do you train in South America without trespassing other countries in their jungles?
@@Charles-nc4zj Easy. We have dozens of long-standing effective standing mutual defense treaties/agreements, military to military, since WW2 onwards, with 95%++ of Latin America (mainly South America (#1), but also most of Central America & Caribbean (including French Army's elite jungle school in Guyana, almost as good as the one we had in Panama)....Cheers!
@@fredcollins8919 I always thought that Jungle Warfare Training was disregarded after the closing of the school in Panama and the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
@@Charles-nc4zj no. It never ever stopped neither for Army Infantry/Airborne much less for USMC Infantry (whove been fighting hard & successfully in jungles countless times worldwide since beginning of 20th century, onwards). Now we're simply seeing an Official well-publicized much needed much wanted long delayed major re-focusing & emphasis on jungle warfare (& forest warfare -see Eastern Europe) esp jungle warfare & COIN & more for both all active duty US conventional infantry units & as always, all elite US units (+ Soccom) + select key NATO allies & NoN-NATO regional Asian & Latin American allies against ANY local, regional & global threat(s). Cheers!
This isn’t even close to FFL style
Why are americans always talking about the foreign legion? There's a lot of other army corps that have good soldiers, look at the 8th regiment of parachutists
what's the thing with the blood they're doing?
It's to show and train US soldiers how to take a blood sample. It's useful in jungle when soldiers get sick and to check if they didn't contract illness such as malaria.

82nd should consider to go Thailand for jungle survival tactics from Thailand's army. Its another gruesome training.
JWTC 1973 Panama... Ate the monkey, ate the iguana, and even ate the snake. What scared me most was what i'd eaten from the shady sidewalk vendor, while off duty, that come out of that 5 gallon bucket of blood, skewered, and cooked, on a hibachi in Colon for 75 cents. As far as the training... It looks easier than ours. The Cadre ambushed our class with BB guns the night before graduation... But as trained... "Always attack the Ambush. Our attack was the use of M-16's butt strokes. You could hear buffer springs going Buusscchhett, Buusscchheett, for a good 5 minutes till they begged us to stop. Next day @ graduation you could see black eyes and busted lips on the ambushing Cadre.

LICKMYNYNE the French national guard yes ! But US national guard i don’t know..
This was filmed in a pre Trumpian era of NATO forces collaboration, intelligence sharing and joint military exercises. Than we had a 4 year hiatus from the civilized world while we dropped in a pit of conspiracy theory nuts and general level of dumbness at the highest level of our government. Thankfully our military leaders were trying to send a message to our allies that everything will be fine and that America will be back.. Now that time has come. I expect a strong NATO support from our Commander in chief at the incoming NATO summit in June.. It is nice to be back and share a common reality that is based on facts and truth.
This was filmed after the JOTC in Ft Sherman closed when the canal turnover took place.
Now why would the American military want jungle training,......Asia⁉

I really appreciate the United States, but apart from a few exceptions your soldiers are too fat, too used to comfort and political correctness. Your veterans of WW1 or WW2 were much more enduring soldiers.
