- My time in the French Foreign Legion, an experience I will never forget along with brothers I will equally never forget. I hope this video might motivate some strong minded men willing to challenge themselves to step out of their comfort zones and take a risk! ‘If you risk nothing you gain nothing’ good luck ☘️💪🤙

Much respect man, glad to see that you befriended a Serb in the Legion as we Serbs have huge respect for Irish people and admire all the struggles you've endured throughout your tough history and I want to acknowledge the fact that you guys are a tough bunch with massive guts, much respect from Serbia.
Our company XO in the US Marines decided to leave the Corps and go to the Legion. We all envied him. Years later during desert storm we ran into some Legionaires and and one was from Chicago. Small world indeed.

The legion has the wonderful ethos of treating absolutely everyone the same regardless of where they come form. If you meet the physical, mental and criminal (as in no blood crime, no dealing) standard, you will be given a chance. Wherever you are from, whatever your religion, whatever your skin colour. The Legion shows how we are all humans and deserve equal treatment.

Brilliant video, need to do some videos about life in the legion and your tours. Great to see you survived and thrived. All the best in The future pal, ex- Armoured Infantry.
Hi Mac.. I actually joined the Legion in 2015 but left during training in Castel but I came I kept in touch with some lads from my platoon-company that eventually ended up in Calvi. Frana Beetge was one and when I previously applied but got sent home to get more medical info another guy I knew Chris Du Preez and a few other eastern bloc boys. It has dawned on my mind a few times to go back but I'm 30 now (still in good nick) but times and the world are changing and the days of a front line infantry soldier are limited and its small tight knit special forces (GCP-SEAL-ECT) that will see the majority of action in proxy wars and the truth of the matter is the majority of men in the Legion and domestic forces will never fire a weapon outside of the range and I just found it hard to stay motivated. I'm sure the French will always be involved in some former colonial hotspot! Was there many Irish lads in the RP of late? I only met one Irish man a Dub in Aughbane and a man from Donegal who was leaving Castel to join the calvary in Orange! I like the video it was very interesting! Take care and greetings from Co Clare ☘
Is it really so? also is it possible to access the GCP?

Actually, for not being able to keep the lid on in Europe, even with Brits there, in TWO WORLD WARS where we lost 500,000 men (about 400,000 if you subtract Pacific losses in WWII).
@@biodidu25 France certainly lost the most men, couldn't get the Germans out of France for four years, and no way victory happens without 1.1 mil U.S. soldiers to blunt German spring, 1918 offensive (reinforced by 500,000 men released from Russian front).

I'm French and I think the foreign legion is a great institution. Take people from all over the world who seek adventure, combat, suffering, a new life for some, another chance, the pride of being part of an elite unit, the myth .. and the money ;) that's so cool. France has so much war to fight, it would be great if instead of 10,000 people in the legion, we are like 50,000 maybe. But unfortunately .... We have no money ... the French state is bankrupt. Apparently they take 1 out of 10 candidates. It's sad but it s life ... Vive la légion étrangère ;)
