Dear Thomas! I've almost finished my M50B30 build now, diesel crank, M3 piston, 11.8:1 comp, custom ITB and 280deg cams... I'm aiming for 8000rpm, with solid lifters and double springs. I have a question to you: did you do anything to the oil pump? Such as shimmed relief valve for more pressure, bigger pump,, etc.. Thank you! Really nice job on your build

@@BMWE36Thomas thanks.. I'm rebuildinga b28 and unsure what to use for cams. I still need decent idle so probably anything bigger then 268/272 will be a no go

No it is actually slack in the oil pump chain causing lash at high RPM because BMW was too cheap to install chain tensioner like they did to S50. Tensioner is cheap plastic part that fixes the problem (and infamous oil pump nut and shaft losing oil pressure), but the block has to be drilled to fasten the tensioner to the block.

if you wanna rev it high (8000+), make sure you do a complete overhaul of the head.
And get ATI harmonic damper
I do have the ATI super damper, and did the whole engine, cams, retainer, solid followers.
Now running ITB’s! Absolutely awesome :)
Revs like a motorcycle
One thing i always hated about my e36 328i was that the revs were super slow to rev up and drop. This would be the dream

Hi Mike,
Thank you! Yes I know... Taking this project pretty far... :)
I used an M54b30 crank so the stroke is 89.6! Bore is original, 84mm.
